  1. Take a look at Carr's scouting report coming out. Does it sound like someone in 2017? Arm strength and accuracy Carr has the best arm talent of any quarterback in this 2014 NFL Draft. That may seem like a strong statement, but he proved it time and time again throughout the last two seasons. Even when his mechanics fail him, Carr can put the ball in any spot on the field with velocity, timing and accuracy. Additionally, Carr has exceptional touch and accuracy on his deep passes. Comparing Carr to Matthew Stafford or Jay Cutler is not a stretch in this department. Regardless of his arm slot, footwork or the spot on the field he's throwing to, Carr can put the appropriate velocity on the ball. For the most part, Fresno State's offense called for vertical passes and screens...Unfortunately, it's tough to get enough of a feel for how Carr reads defenses because of his offense. He was asked to make relatively simple reads that won't necessarily translate to the NFL. Mechanics And here's where we start getting into some of the negatives to Carr's game. His mechanics, particularly in his lower body, are inconsistent at best. He often throws off of his back foot and doesn't transfer his weight properly when throwing the ball. He also lets his throwing mechanics be affected by pressure in the pocket, whether it's rushing his throw and not paying attention to his arm slot or not taking the time to focus on proper lower body mechanics. http://www.sbnation.com/nfl-mock-draft/2014/4/14/5614326/derek-carr-2014-nfl-draft-scouting-report
  2. Yes, and neither was considered an Andrew Luck level prospect. That's why those complaining about the 2017 draft should understand you don't need an A+ level prospect to succeed. Carr was attacked as a system QB that folded under pressure and Dak was compared to Tim Tebow.
  3. The Bills are not making the playoffs this year. They need to draft and develop a QB and stop just picking up other team's discards.
  4. In the last 3 drafts there has also been Derek Carr and Dak Prescott. Plenty of guys are entering the league and making a difference.
  5. The problem with this is that the Pats 2nd stringer is better than our starter, They also got a nice prospect in Brissett.
  6. Every NFL team has their own ranking but my guess is Trubisky goes first with Mahomes second off the board. I think Watson gets drafted in the second.
  7. The Rams figured out what to do when you have a running QB. Beat them up physically. After the Rams showed the rest of the NFL the blueprint Kaepernick had to depend on winning from the pocket more because he couldn't sustain repeated hits and wear and tear. I suspect that not many NFL teams want to create an offense for a dual-threat QB.
  8. Maybe. Or perhaps standing up to angry racists and the uneducated can be an exhausting task. He made his point and now he wants to move on.
  9. The Bills aren't the only team that gets players injured. Every NFL team has guys that missed time last year.
  10. You only want the Bills to acquire backups in the draft? Why is that?
  11. Mechanics on Mahomes are fine. He delivers the ball accurately. It's actually a plus that he can do without stepping into every throw in my book. In the NFL, you don't get perfect pockets. You will have fast 280 lb guys trying to kill you.
  12. Totally agree. If Trubisky or Mahomes are there at 10 I want the Bills to pounce.
  13. If all four are equal on your draft board no need to draft one in the first round. But I have Trubisky and Mahomes as 1st round talents.
  14. If the goal is just to get one of the 4 you wouldn't have to trade up. One of the 4 will be likely be there in the second round. My goal would be to get Mahomes and he will probably go somewhere between 13 and late 20's.
  15. Kaepernick 2016 YPA 6.8 QB Rating 90.2 12 Games, 16 TD's Tyrod Taylor 2016 YPA 6.9 QB Rating 89.7 15 Games 17 TD's
  16. Boom goes the dynamite.
  17. Rex as Walt Patulski:
  18. I expect to hear it next year too! Oh, so and so stayed in school. Rosen is fool's gold, etc. Let's get our guy in 2019. Then in 2019 I expect to hear wait till 2020.
  19. The Bills have only drafted a QB in the first 3 rounds twice in the last 10 drafts. 2013 EJ Manuel 2007 Trent Edwards If you say a QB in the first 2 rounds then only one time this decade. Expect another year to go by...
  20. All of the teams you mentioned have front offices and GMs that take the long view at the draft. Pegula defended his org structure as saying it was common. Common with who? Other teams that lose. The only team you mentioned that allows their head coach incredible power at the draft is New England and Belichick operates as a GM, not your average coach. Most coaches think in terms of tactics. Good GM's think in terms of strategy. Bills are following the model of teams that lose.
  21. Rex needed a team with 3-4 personnel and a team that drafts high IQ players. He did great when he inherited Eric Mangini's (Belichick disciple) players. Bills draft for size/speed/power. IQ is not one of the traits Bills focus on.
  22. Yes, the 3 you mentioned are the only elite players on the Bills for me with strong consideration for Incognito as a possible 4th.
  23. Kiko never played under Schwartz but he was a loss from the 2013-2014 group. Searcy also was never replaced when Rex was here. I think Whaley did create a playoff roster by 2015 but Rex and his scheme change kept them out that year. But Whaley now has to deal with a ridiculous organizational structure where we have a meddling owner, Head Coach that is equal to the GM or stronger, and a personnel department that seems tasked these last few years with quick fixes and pushes (last year's 3 picks on an inside linebacker to save the Rex defense). During this period the Bills have thrown away draft picks and shown no coherent long term vision. The future is bleak until we have a great football mind empowered to create a plan for long term success.
