  1. Most NFL teams expect more from their QB. Bills hide their QB to help mask his flaws.
  2. I have no idea what he will do. But all the signs point to the fact that McDermott isn't a Belichick or Carroll, just another defensive minded coach trying to grind out wins. The Tyrod Taylor situation, the Leslie Frazier hire are all red flags for me. The draft is coming and we will know even more soon enough.
  3. Carroll is a Superbowl winner with a lifelong contract. Shanahan is new coach given a 6 year contract. No track record. Quinn's roster was already in place when he took over. So basically give you Belichick and Carroll. Two Superbowl coach coaches with unlimited job security. So you have nothing else? McDermott has gotten more conservative every year. Doesn't like to blitz. He picked Tampa 2 coach Frazier to run his defense, another conservative coach known for lack of innovation.
  4. These are people that heard there was no top 3 QB and assumed the worst. Saints Chargers Browns Cardinals all have had private workouts. Mahomes is going way higher than these people realize.
  5. I would be happy if Kizer gets taken. Removes possibility for Buffalo.
  6. Go ahead name these teams. And Patriots don't count as Belichick had broken the mold of coaches in win now mode. The Ravens, Steelers, Packers don't follow that model. Bills recipe is one for losing.
  7. Kirk Cousins has an NFL starter arm. Peterman throws like a clipboard holder.
  8. McDermott is a Jauron type of coach for me until proven otherwise. Plays a simple, conservative scheme that depends on high end defensive talent. Will do everything he can to squeeze 7 wins out of a weak roster. Please don't make the coach the GM.
  9. Could be a Trevor Siemian type player.
  10. He pretends to be objective but he just wants Tyrod to have no competition.
  11. It's not just Whaley. Monos and a group of scouts are compiling the reports and draft board. What would happen is McDermott would get to pull off more "Ragland" deals where he grabs players to fit his scheme and disregards other things actual NFL GM's worry about. If this happens think Levy-Jauron for what our next few drafts will look like.
  12. Dude, I get it. You are scared your hero Tyrod would lose to one of these "not good" QB's. It's pretty transparent and sad.
  13. I think you outlined many of the problems Whaley faced. I am not a Whaley fan but many of the moves attributed to him seemed to come from others such as the Rex hire, Ragland pick, etc. But what has changed? The Bills fire their loud defensive head coach and replace him with a quiet defensive head coach. Another scheme change. And now this head coach appears to have the power to affect the 53 man roster like the one who came before him. I was talking to a friend that coaches in college football and I mentioned that the Bills were letting McDermott weigh in on the Tyrod situation. He said, "Then Tyrod will be back. Coaches are in a win now mentality, they don't worry about tomorrow." Unfortunately, the Bills are a below average team that looks like it will continue to spin their wheels while we try to "win now" and never build anything for tomorrow. The draft is approaching. I hope I am wrong but if we continue to fill holes at the draft get ready for 3 more years of losing.
  14. Peterman has big hands.
  15. Bills are a sports soap opera...
  16. I don't have any better inside information than anyone else but when someone told me what they overheard McDermott saying after he was hired I wanted to see where this would go. If McDermott is the winner in the power struggle the Pegulas need to change their organizational structure immediately. Hire a real GM that doesn't get forced to do short term jobs for the coach.
  17. Absolutely. The Ragland trade was all Rex last year. You can't run a team by letting a coach dictate high draft choices.
  18. Which is what also what supposedly happened during the Rex hire. And Whaley was right back then and the Pegulas were wrong. Whaley should just quit and I have said this for a while. If he has to be the GM and have all this interference that prevents him from doing the job what is the point? Not a fan of Whaley but I am even LESS enthused with letting McDermott run the ship. Coaches are not good GM's. They don't think long term and you need a GM to do that. This Taylor business is part of that.
  19. From what we heard it sounds like Whaley set up the board for the Pegulas. It was also reported that Whaley wanted to wait and interview Keith Butler from Pittsburgh but the Pegulas were in love with McDermott. Sounds like the 2013 draft. Whaley has some input but fans have no idea how much authority...
  20. John Gruden wants Mahomes to become more consistent and he will go a long way. Most interesting guy in this draft. He's special, big league arm and athletic ability and confidence to go with it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bh5BLt86dbY
  21. Well, we're getting Tyrod Taylor for most of 2017 no matter who we draft. As for project it depends on how willing and creative the offensive coordinator is. If Dak Prescott had to run the full Tony Romo offense then he never would have been able to operate as well as he did. Mahomes could be ready much earlier than you think if similar considerations were done for him. Also, the last few years the Bills have not asked the QB to carry the team.
  22. So if Whaley knows he is getting the axe, what if he pulls a John Butler? Round Pick Player Position College Notes 1 26 Erik Flowers DE Arizona State 2 58 Travares Tillman FS Georgia Tech 3 89 Corey Moore LB Virginia Tech 4 121 Avion Black WR Tennessee State 5 156 Sammy Morris RB Texas Tech 6 194 Leif Larsen DE UTEP 7 233 Drew Haddad WR Buffalo 7 251 DaShon Polk LB Arizona
  23. Pat Kirwan ✔@PatKirwanRFN A well respected QB coach for decades in the NFL told me Mahomes has the best arm talent since Brett Favre. Raw & not ready but worth it! 7:21 AM - 28 Feb 2017 · Dallas, TX
  24. There is no one that can predict the future but you better believe that some people are better at evaluating QB's than others. It did not surprise me that Oakland hired Mckenzie from the Green bay front office and then grabbed Derek Carr and are now a rising power. Who would you rather have scout a QB? Kyle Shanahan or Doug Whaley? Doug Whaley or the Green Bay GM, Director of College Scouting?
  25. I have been calling for Pegula's to hire a QB czar for a while now. Find the best QB scout you can find and give them a bag of cash. It should be someone that would have found a good to great QB in the last several drafts. Make them prove their expertise and let's get some help in here. I also wanted a head coach that was an offensive mastermind/QB guru to also help but that ship has sailed.
