How do we know that Frazier will run McDermott's scheme? Maybe Mcdermott will trust Frazier to install his defense. Rivera was a defensive coach and he let Mcdermott run his defense. Lots of unknowns and McDermott said he didn't know if he would call plays. So the guy has been working towards this job all his life and hasn't even decided how this will go.

Tyrod throws one of the best deep balls in the NFL. Mahomes is much more accurate on the bread and butter NFL throws and can hit receivers in stride running in the middle of the field. Slant patterns? Yes, we would see those again! Ok, thanks for your thoughts.

Why does questioning a Bills hire demonstrate personal animosity to you? We're all guessing and trying to read the tea leaves at this point. McDermott said he hasn't decided if he will call the plays. Based on Frazier's recent track record I would be concerned if Mcdermott delegates these duties to Frazier. Sorry, I thought you saw this. Here's what I posted earlier in the thread to you. "Detroit clearly looked like the worst team in the NFL to begin last season, ranking 29th in points and 32nd in turnovers after seven games. They fired offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi and promoted Cooter, winning six of their last eight games with an improved and balanced offensive attack."

I urge you to do the same. Your Tyrod-Mahomes comparison is funny, I'll give you that. They play nothing alike. Just curious, what QB do you like in this draft?
-
I would sign Foles or Moore and then draft Mahomes. Foles, Mahomes, C Jones QB camp battle.

I won't derail the topic anymore on Cooter. Basically he has the qualities I would want in head coach. Defensive systems depends more on raw talent than offense. I believe the QB position is the most important on the field and the the new NFL is based on outscoring people, not bend but don't break Cover 2 schemes. Frazier could be a good assistant but if he calls the plays they will be predictable and conservative with no pass-rush.

Yes, good comp. Also both played in a gimmicky offense that made them harder to evaluate. If Mahomes was in a pro system like Luck he would go top ten.

I'm not calling McDermott a failure. Olson hasn't been hired yet. But the Leslie Frazier hiring was a big red flag and the Olson business is a burning building. Whaley ignores QB so it makes sense that he would interview guys that also have no clue or have a sense of urgency on it. TE coach, DL coach. Hey OC and QB coaches are your two most important hires mcD!

No, my point was that Rodgers was dinged for system and mechanics. Please show me where I stated Mahomes IS Aaron Rodgers. If I thought that I would trade every pick for him. I like Mahomes as a Derek Carr/Dak Prescott level prospect.

Wins improved, 4th QB comebacks, QB efficiency. http://det.247sports.com/Bolt/Lions-biggest-regret-in-15-Not-promoting-Jim-Bob-Cooter-sooner-46155152 Here's what he wrote specifically about why the Lions should have regrets here: "Detroit clearly looked like the worst team in the NFL to begin last season, ranking 29th in points and 32nd in turnovers after seven games. They fired offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi and promoted Cooter, winning six of their last eight games with an improved and balanced offensive attack." It's hard to argue how good the Lions looked in the second half with nothing but a simple scheme change, and the team -- including quarterback Matthew Stafford -- certainly looked more comfortable under Cooter's tutlage down the stretch. If Detroit had made the change a bit sooner, would they have ended up making the playoffs?

It worked out ok for Miami. It worked out ok for Atlanta. I don't get what your point is. I am not advocating we do what everyone else is doing. I want the next Gruden or Reid before everyone knows who they are. This can be done but this would require more imagination than anyone in the current Bills FO.

Cardale is a project. Mahomes could play this year with the right system and coach in the NFL.
-
Yes, if you like doing what everyone else is doing. I would rather beat teams to the punch. Cooter is known in NFL circles as a top offensive mind and he will be the "hot" candidate soon. Cooter was Peyton Manning's choice for OC over Adam Gase. Cooter is a QB guru and would bring Buffalo a top offensive system designed around our pieces along with his ability to help the QB we target and draft. These our more important qualities, QB system and development, than 4-3 Cover 2 coach that hands off his defense to Tampa 2 Frazier. I was open to McDermott but his hiring of Leslie Frazier and the targeting of Greg Olson shows he is either incompetent or lost in time. I would rather hire someone that knows the future of the NFL and is ahead of the curve, not behind it.

Aaron Rodgers fell because he was considered another product of the Tedford system. And his mechanics were bad. Many of you sound like you are parroting the dumb NFL teams that keep making the same mistakes over and over again. There is no one in their right mind that would compare Tyrod to Mahomes. The only thing you have right is that he is in a system that is harder to evaluate for the NFL.
-
Mahomes and Cardale are not even close to the same prospect. If you think that I can't really talk to you. Mahomes is deadly accurate and has a fast release and footwork. Cardale is big but everything looks slow. Big arm but takes time for him to throw and pull the trigger. Then again I saw someone else say Mahomes is Tyrod so I don't even understand how even a casual fan would come to that conclusion.
-
Dak Prescott fell because of this criticism. I would rather draft QB's that are accurate than QB's with the right mechanics. Aaron Rodgers and Rivers also turned out ok.

I doubt Whaley would like Mahomes. His release is too quick. Whaley likes bigger, slower QB's like EJ and Cardale.
