  1. The Panthers had no problem sending Jimmy Clausen to the glue factory when Cam Newton was on the board. We have to be active in evaluating QB's every year. I am telling you Mahomes is undervalued because NFL GM's are too conservative and play not to lose. They don't want to be the guy who drafted an Air Raid guy in the first round. He has it all. Pocket Presence, Accuracy, Big Arm, Lightning Release. Has field general qualities and looks downfield even under heavy duress. Bills interviewed him.
  2. Bills have passed on Derrick Carr, Dak Prescott, Russell Wilson and more. I get your fear. But we can't just ignore the position every year.
  3. I think this draft class is far better than many think. I think Mahomes, as Waldman said, has an upside as high as any QB in the last few years. Trubisky has a bit of the Matt Ryan traits and I assume Shanahan will pounce. Chad Kelly is knuckle head but worth a 6th round flyer. Davis Webb would be interesting late as well. This is not 2013.
  4. I think we agree on the problem. My solution does not demand a 1st round QB start. He has to win the job in camp. If he can't beat Cardale and another QB in camp he sits.
  5. It's not easy, you are right. But the Bills make it harder by never drafting a QB. Only 2 picks in the first 2 rounds in the last 20 years. My plan is about changing that and increasing the search frequency. We have a top ten pick this year with a good chance to land Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes according to a scout at the combine had the best arm he has seen since Favre. Will the Bills do what they did last year and trade a pick that was to be used on Dak for an inside linebacker move up?
  6. You have figured it out. Bills are not anywhere close to a playoff team, this is a year they need to use wisely.
  7. Between: Cardale Jones Mahomes, Trubisky, Watson pick in the first round Chad Kelly Bills should find someone that can hand off the ball to Shady and pass for 200 yards a game. Plus we as fans will enjoy watching this more than the same gimmicks hiding a QB in Tyrod that can't make all the NFL throws. And if I'm wrong the Bills get to pick a QB top 5 in 2018. What a punch in the gut!
  8. This is the new NFL. 1st round draft picks come in way more prepared than a decade ago. Players that have "it" show early. My plan did not demand the 1st round QB play, only that he compete with Cardale and 1 other young prospect (Chad Kelly). The winner will be who the coaches feel best going forward with. The Eagles finished with the same record as the Bills last year PLUS they got their young QB valuable snaps. It's about building a winner, not coasting around hoping for the best. No, I feel the odds are that my plan would have a young QB emerge BETTER and CHEAPER than Tyrod within one year. This year is a wash due to heavy free agency loss and new coaches. It's using this year wisely.
  9. No. But I don't see this as a playoff team, not even close. So no point in overpaying for mediocre players like we have the last few years to make a push. Time to surgically remove the dead weight, get younger, and find our QB of the future in training camp. Let that QB get the snaps and have an offense designed around THEIR skillset. I don't want Tyrod here taking up money and snaps when we should be getting younger. A great draft this year and next and we'll be in great shape PLUS we will have real cap room and a younger, more talented roster.
  10. I want the Bills to win. That's why we cannot pick up that option. The NFL is a league of parity where many games come down to the last drive. Tyrod is not who we need directing the offense in the last 2 minutes. You cannot pay limited players 30-40 million dollars and expect to win. I see this as a 6 win team next year if we pay Tyrod all that money. Draft a QB in the first round. I like Mahomes and Trubisky. Draft Chad Kelly late. The winner of Cardale, Kelly, and 1st round QB gets to lead the team. Clear cap space, acquire picks. Bills will be in good shape to compete in 2018 with a cheaper, better QB. If the plan fails you get another shot to draft 2018 QB high.
  11. And here comes Jerry Sullivan. LaCanfora's report said Pegula and McDermott have become "close," so the new guy will have sway. Does that mean the owner has moved away from his old management guard and thrown his trust to his latest best buddy? It's scary to think that an unproven, first-time head coach could get that sort of power over an NFL team. If McDermott thinks he can make the playoffs right away with Taylor, he's no better than Gregg Williams. A little humility might be in order, and it figures to come soon enough. http://buffalonews.com/2017/03/05/sullys-mailbag-mcdermott-needs-think-long-term/
  12. "Every team I’ve spoken with has Trubisky as one of its top two quarterbacks. Mahomes has his fans, too... But Kizer is the one I think could fall on draft day, based on what I’ve heard and the minimal excitement around him. I’m still a fan, as is Optimum Scouting’s Derrik Klassen, but I’m not as bullish on Kizer being a first-rounder as I was just a few weeks ago. On average, 11 quarterbacks are drafted each year. If I had to guess which eleven are drafted this year, in order: Trubisky (first round), Mahomes (first), Watson (second), Kizer (second), Kaaya (second), Peterman (third), Virginia Tech's Jerod Evans (fourth), Cal’s Davis Webb (fourth), Tennessee’s Josh Dobbs (sixth), Central Michigan’s Cooper Rush (sixth) and Beathard (seventh)" Eric Gelko http://www.sportingnews.com/nfl/news/nfl-draft-rumors-2017-quarterbacks-deshaun-watson-49ers-browns/t3pvkv342oav1m3bnaugzlvdk
  13. All of those teams have good front offices.
  14. What exists in free agency doesn't matter. Top QB's don't become free agents.
  15. Looks like Bills are strongly considering QB and WR at 10.
  16. Myles Garrett just said he would go easy on Eli but not Brady.
  17. Mahomes is my pick because I want to create a video game offense. Load up and just outscore people.
  18. We all can remember when the Buffalo Bills in the 2013 draft “reached” – selecting EJ Manuel when they heard how big his hands were (10 3/8 inches if you were wondering)… Bills Mafia probably all thought to themselves: “Dang this Timmy Horton’s is good. Before we got outside and shovel some more, let’s talk more about how this is OUR YEAR since EJ Manuel’s hands will be able to grip a football no matter how cold and ****ty it is out!! WOOO, CIRCLE THE WAGONS!!!” DeShone Kizer, Notre Dame 9 7/8″ – Biggest hands in the draft. No surprise https://watercooler-sports.com/2017/03/04/lets-talk-hand-size/ Oh no. Whaley might have found his QB!
  19. I would expect 6 wins if we pay Taylor.
  20. Ugh. I agree with Mel Kiper In fact, he believes the Tar Heels quarterback could be the first one taken off the board at No. 2 overall to the San Francisco 49ers. I think San Francisco would be the first team to make that decision, which quarterback do they want? Kyle Shanahan is the new head coach, and John Lynch is the new general manager … This pick could determine their fate. They have to really love that quarterback and really have a strong feeling for that quarterback. Mitch Trubisky from North Carolina I think would most resemble Matt Ryan, who Shanahan had great success with this year. http://arrowheadaddict.com/2017/02/24/nfl-draft-rumors-mel-kiper-compares-mitch-trubisky-matt-ryan/ Every time I see Trubisky I think there is no way that Shanahan passes on him.
  21. Congratulations Cleveland, you are about to get better.
  22. Evans could be a nice target for the Bills if they want a safety that can play later in the draft.
  23. An NFL employee that I have an opportunity to talk with frequently asked me what I thought about Deshaun Watson after his National Championship Performance. The bottom-line verdict: While I’m still studying him, I haven’t seen any major flaws with his game that should make a team shy away from him as prospect with starter upside. His verdict was similar. “His game doesn’t check all the boxes that I need on my assessment to say he’s a low-risk pick that one would recommend without reservation as an early pick, but he doesn’t have any deal-breaker negatives that would lead me to believe he’s unlikely to progress.” https://mattwaldmanrsp.com/2017/01/25/rsp-film-room-no-95-qb-deshaun-watson-reading/
  24. Watson is a nice prospect but I wouldn't take him before Mahomes or Trubisky.
  25. I could see the Bills looking for their next Kevin Kolb while they draft a QB early. Just keep Trevor away from the rubber mats.
