  1. It's legit ... its all over ESPN2 right now
  2. From what I know, Ted Cottrell is currently out of coaching. When Brad Childress was brought in this season with the VIKINGS, Ted wasn't retained and is currently looking for work.
  3. Sometimes I just can't believe the rubbish I read on here. If we took back Peerless Price after the way he originally left us, and I'm glad he's back, then Eric Moulds coming back (which I can't see happening unfortunately) is a no-brainer. I'd want him back in a heartbeat ...
  4. Of course, all teams have always had a home & away jersey. Whoever said it'd be cool to see they both wearin their blue is being dense, they'd clash. Our Colbail Blue from '65 is only slightly darker than the CHARGERS '63 powder blue throwbacks. Unfortunately the NFL won't allow any club to make a 4th jersey, something the CHARGERS would need for Sunday so they can have their white jersey from '63, as they never had powder blue pants. They wore White on White for road games from 60-65, then brought out yellow pants in '66. 75th year NFL anniversary season they allowed clubs to manufacture throwbacks in both home & away version, and let them wear them more than just twice, SF 49ers were a perfect example. So expect only us in throwbacks, and SD in their current midnight blue pants, white jerseys, and dark blue helmets ... unfortunately. Click here - History of CHARGERS Uniforms & helmets
  5. Last season somebody posted the link to an article they found that showed when the NFL Clubs who have either throwback or alternate uniforms, and which date and game they'd be wearing them in. Does anybody have any information on this ? I would think that someone out there at least would know at the very minimum when the BILLS will be wearing theirs . . Cheers !
  6. Does this local bar you speak of show the preseason games, LIVE ?
  7. It's sounds ta me like you're all missin' EMPIRE SPORTS NETWORK & FAN TV
  8. Oi Sven, this article I've posted below is fresh off the sports wire pertaining to your very subject about the NFL Network appearing on Cable TV outlets such as Time Warner. NFL pushes NFL Network on cable operators Posted 7/27/2006 11:06 PM ET By Michael McCarthy, USA TODAY The NFL is preparing to launch a $100 million attack ad campaign over the next six months in an attempt to force cable TV operators to carry its NFL Network channel, which will begin airing regular-season games in November. If the cable providers don't sign up, the NFL will urge consumers to switch to satellite TV operators that carry the channel, NFL Network spokesman Seth Palansky says. McCARTHY: More on the NFL ad campaign The 2½-year-old channel also has basic cable and/or digital distribution deals with at least 75 cable operators, including Comcast, the nation's top cable provider, and reaches 41 million homes. With the NFL Network airing regular-season games beginning Thanksgiving night, the league thinks it has the leverage to force its way into 25 million more homes this season. The TV, radio, print and magazine ads, which will target cable operators by name, could begin as early as next week, Palansky says. "We think it's asinine that Time Warner (the nation's No. 2 cable provider) carries 12 shopping channels and 50 other channels you don't want — but can't find room for one dedicated to the most popular sport in this country," Palansky says. "We're replacing the kid gloves with bare knuckles." One ad aimed at Time Warner says, "Don't let Time Warner ruin your football season. You'll miss NFL games if you don't call and demand NFL Network now." Another targeting Cablevision, a provider in metro New York, warns, "Don't let Cablevision shut you out." The ad lists the channel's games and a toll-free number for NFL Network. Time Warner Cable spokesman Mark Harrad says it "is still having discussions with the NFL Network." Cablevision's Marie Stenberg declined to comment.
  9. Now this post I agree with many things you say. I too love the BILLS. I agree we're going to have a shít season, somewhere around what you're predicting. We were horrible in the early 70's, late 80's, then we got that short reprieve when Knox arrived. Then from the time Knox left 'til Marv & Kelly arrived in '86 were horrible again. During all those losing seasons, and in '85 I'd be glued to the TV when we almost went winless that year I'd still watch the BILLS when I could have watched some choice games being televises around the NFL. But hey, even during our Super Bowl years I couldn't get into watching them preseason games, but at least they were LIVE so I'd put them on. They just didn't have my undivided attention & focus like regular seasaon does. Back then tho', televising preseason game was a bit more limited, but not even tape delaying them for at least the same day is just the pits as far as I'm concerned. But hey buddy, to each his own right. I guess I'm just really disgusted with our offseason. Hiring Marv as GM at his age with no experience as a GM, then him choosing Dick Jauron as Head Coach when we could have gotten Mike Sherman, not acknowleding now that JP is bust who's not an NFL QB when we could have gotten Matt Leinart or Jay Cutler, and our 1st round pick being chosen with our early pick when he was slated as a very late 1st round or possible 2nd rounder. Losing Moulds didn't help either, and our OL has sucked for many a years. One thing that would excited me is bringing back those '65 thowbacks on a full-time basis and making our 90's uniforms the alternates. Anyway, enjoy the games . . appreciated the explanation in your reply.
  10. What is it about Stephen A. that you feel makes him such a poor interviewer ? What I have noticed tho', is that athletes seem to really like him ...
  11. NO .. It's NOT a repeat. I just turned it on a few mins ago when I saw your post. Stephen A. was talking to 2 columnists about the RAIDERS and the Jerry Porter saga. Bruce is coming on next. Cheers for the posting this
  12. In all the years I've supported the BILLS (since '69 season) I'd watch the preseason game IF they were televised, which would be the away games, but they were always shown LIVE, never TAPE DELAYED like these are. I always found them boring as hell. Once the offence & defence had been on for at least one series, it would slowly get boring by the minute. I find the notion of watching these preseason games beyond dull to have to watch them if they're not LIVE. If I knew the score beforehand and knew they had a really good game I suppose I'd TIVO it so I can see how some of the players trying to make the roster did, but I learned ages ago these preseason games aren't worth a shít as to how you'll do in the regular season. The vast majority of preseason games are sooooo boring. I guess what I'm trying to say is how can you appear to be so excited about a bunch of BILLS preseason games being shown on NFL Network when they're not even being shown LIVE, not even being shown on the same day ? It's summer and there's gotta be alot more fun things to do than make an event out of that. I've long felt get it down to 2 games, and increase the regular season to 18 games. But anyway, that's just my view on it, and I'm stickin' with it.
  13. If you get DIRECTV you'll get the NFL Network as I'm sure you know, but you WON'T get CBC. Some of their hockey games are included in the NHL Centre Ice Package, but you won't get the network as a whole. We definitely need a regional network back for Western NY, and move the SABRES games back to it. How ridiculous it is for a BUFFALO hockey team to be on a NY City TV Network (MSG2), it makes us look so small-time. The SABRES fans outside of the BUFFALO area who have the NHL Centre Ice Package can only sometimes get the coverage from the SABRES provided by MSG and Rick Jeanerette calling the game. Some games yes, and many others the coverage is coming from the opponents TV broadcast & coverage. Meaning we don't get the SABRES pregame & postgame shows. Which means no Hockey Hotline. I used to like the coverage EMPIRE had upon conclusion of the BILLS games. The locker room interviews and the coaches addressing the media. Perhaps it's being worked on behind the scenes and we're not aware of it, but somehow being BUFFALO I just doubt it. Bring back FAN TV and that theme song for it !!!!
  14. Yes, Galloway has been productive since leaving Dallas, but that hardly warrants him being in the same class as those others. Regarding Moss, you're exaggerating about quad-coverage, not only that but he's missed alot of game due to injure the past 3 seasons and hasn't been 100% fit for football
  15. Joey Galloway ? How can you put him in the same calibre as the others you've named ? You must be havin' a laff Also, Moss has suddenly become very prone to injury, and he's entering his 9th year. He's not the same Moss that he was in those first 5 years with the Vikings, IMHO.
  16. It's fine to remark like you did about the QB's, but it's not fine when you leave out our incredibly weak OL ...
  17. I've had DIRECTV since their 1st year and Nov '94 when they added the NFL Sunday Ticket. Ever since you could start using an S-Video cable to hook up from the receiver to the TV and get that digital picture, I was hooked. It's like experiencing 1st class and you don't ever wanna go back to coach. For that reason alone, I have 4 receivers plus the DVR (TIVO), but yes, it cost an extra $5 per box. They must love me, I got 2 on the big screen in the living room, 1 in my den, and 1 in the bedroom. Cable TV's digital isn't the same quality and not all their channels are digital. If I don't spend the money on it I'll just spend it somewhere else, so what's the difference I say. Also pertaining to the NFL Network, I barely even watch it. There's so much of an overdose of football in this day & age, I can only take so much of it. Althought during our Super Bowl years we were so damn good I just couldn't get enough of ESPN Sportscenter & Prime Time just to see our highlights and see what they'd say about the BILLS. Now, it's just not the same. What I miss with a major passion is EMPIRE SPORTS NETWORK. Who's with me on that one ? Gawd how I wish a regional sports network for Western New York would come back !!! I used to love watching FAN TV.
  18. I concur . . San Diego's are the best, with ours a very close 2nd I also like Dallas' '60 throwbacks that they wore last season on Thanksgiving Day, and on their Monday Niter vs the REDSKINS. I also liked the REDSKINS throwbacks (from '65 - '69) that they wore at home games to celebrate their 75th anniversary a few years ago. Those were sharp, had the arrow for the logo on the helmet with the gray facemask and a totally different shade of maroon, totally different than that ugly shade of burgundy that they currently wear with those ugly yellow facemasks. When the JETS returned to their older uni's they tweaked 'em and hardly anyone noticed that they rounded off the logo when it was originally pointed just like a football, and the logo was also on an angle back then whereas it's level now. They dumped the gray facemask too in favor of green.
  19. Correction mate . . . you mean the 'proposed' new Sabres logo
  20. Oh gawd, how I loved seeing us play in those '65 throwback uniforms with that Colbalt Blue, white helmet - gray facemask, that Buffalo logo, them sox with the black shoes, and the numbers on the top of the shoulders. Those got rave reviews on ESPN, Pardon the Interuption, and all over the TV networks. Still can't believe the s**t we wear now ... that ugly blue on blue at home makes me wanna puke
  21. Perry Tuttle 'eh ? Sure was a great receiver in college tho', with alot of potential. Sometimes ya just don't know with these draft picks. I'm virtually certain that was the season that Philly was trying to trade up cuz they wanted him so badly, but we prevailed. Perry Tuttle - *** click here *** All the EAGLES ended up doing was getting Mike Quick, something that still haunts many of us
  22. Fergie was solid in '80, '81, '82 ... had some bad luck, getting injured in the playoff game at Cincinnati, and another great performance in the playoff game in San Diego that the defence blew in the closing minutes by giving up that 46 yard TD pass to Ron Smith. It was him tho', that had a major influence in us changed the white helmets to red, as he said he could see his receivers better and throw less interceptions. 1st season in the red helmets all he does is throw a career high number of interceptions, and we're stull stuck with them helmets. Bring back the White with the gray facemask please !
  23. Aye, I pretty much agree completely with all that. Our OL was so bad that when Flutie came in to relieve the injured Rob Johnson at the game in San Diego his scrambling ability really helped got the offence moving, something RJ wasn't good at. With RJ's style, no way he'd succeed with an OL that bad. Eventually defences caught on to Flutie's style and the novelty wore off. His height was a definite factor also, as I can't even begin to count the amount of passes that wore batted down and blocked the longer he held that QB position. His arm strength also weakened severely during that time and that also cost us. His remark that we would've won that playoff game at Tennessee really pissed me off. RJ was fine in that game which was lost solely by special teams and our players being dense by NOT staying in their lanes. Bledsoe was awsome in his initial season, but then Peerless Price's ego got inflated after that great season he had that year and that breaking up of that chemistry on offence along with the regression of our OL really led to the decline of the oh so immobile Drew. He was aided by the double-coverage and sometime triple-coverage on Eric Moulds. Drew was on a total roll his last season with us after that horrid start, but his performance against the STEELERS 2nd team in the season finale closed the books on him. That was a great winning streak we had that season going into the final game. NO WAY Flutie can be ranked ahead of Drew. Someone is having' a definite laff with that one, lol
