  1. Personally I think that the last draft was an exceptionally good draft for the Buffalo Bills. Even with an unproven quarterback taken early I still agree with their decisions for the most part. I wonder if their ability to draft well was highly influenced by the fact that Marrone and Hackett were coming from the college ranks and had deep knowledge about college players due to that fact. I think that played an important role in this draft being successful and influenced the rest of the drafting staff’s decisions a lot. Now that they are out of college for the year, does this mean that special knowledge is now gone and no longer an advantage? My intuition tells me yes. I hope like hell the Bills draft as well as they did last year. But I am only about 70% confident that they will at this point. What is your confidence level in the upcoming drafting decisions at this early point?
  2. If you thought the Bills were bad at special teams...you just might be right... Check these stats out.... Yikes! http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/team/_/stat/returning/sort/yardsPerKickReturn worst in the league
  3. As much as I think the special teams suck, I hope that Marrone has someone better in mind before he axes the existing coach. After all, you might think the grass is greener on the other side of the road. But what if you get there and find a desert? It is hard to imagine that special teams could be any worse, but it is possible. No?
  4. I'd like to criticize the price of beer at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Highway robbery! Should be 1/3rd the price. Oh-yeah....and no flyovers this year...not one.....cheap ass government. Those guys at Niagara Falls Air Force Base have to fly training missions anyway right? Why not send them to the stadium on Sunday? Oh yeah - and I would also like to formally criticize McDonalds for finding a way to put slices of apples into a happy meal and having them stay white. Fresh apples turn brown in like under 2 minutes when you slice them. Not McDonalds. You bastards!
  5. I wonder what he intends to do too. I am a bit of a marketing guy myself. So I tend to try and look through the wool they are pulling over our eyes every year. Maybe this year season ticket holders will get 2 Bills blankets instead of one......lol I think season ticket sales are going to suck unless they do something big. There really is no incentive to renew for another season like this one. Borderline fans who are currently season ticket holders will save their money and stay home. Should be interesting.
  6. Maybe Marrone should have made MD wear a giant sign that says "Sorry Bills Fans. I am sitting the bench for half the game today because I can't get up on time." Maybe that would work? lol
  7. I think in this case Marrone is guilty of trying to get the kid to stop crying by spanking him harder..... Doesn't work. I don't know what the root of the problem is with Darius's lateness. But whatever it is needs to be dealt with at the root. Otherwise it is just two Alpha Males banging heads which will ultimately lead to a bloody fist fight which does not benefit the team in any way. The fault ultimately lies with MD because he is the idiot who is not towing the line. But I think it is safe to say he does not respond well to this form of punishment.
  8. Who the hell is going to want to take a coaching job in Cleveland if you get fired after your first year? I could understand if the team didn't win any games at all, but come on man... Is he that bad? It's not like that team is stacked with play makers. I can't imagine a respectable coach wanting that head job there if that is how they operate....Wow.....
  9. I was thinking the same thing as I read through this thread. Will anyone, even one person, stand up and defend this guy? I was as mad as everyone else about the big returns the Bills gave up. I attributed some of that to the weather and how the wetness made it harder to tackle. But the thing is that the Patriots kept trying to return the kicks and they did so successfully. The Bills were taking knees in at the goal line. I was like WTF man? Why not see if the wetness will work to our advantage too. After all the first return that went to the 29 or so wasn't too shabby. Why the hell not try to run a kick back. Geezuzz... don't you players want to win? Inexcusable...this special teams coach sucks in a huge way. huge huge suckage.
  10. Nice...My new favorite tag for CJ after today's game. How true..... As far as I am concerned your entire take on CJ Spiller is dead nuts on target. I agree completely. Disappointing for a man with his talent level.
  11. I agree with the vast majority of what you said here. A few points I would like to make. Very, very disappointed in Spiller tonight. He had opportunities to break runs for huge (possible TD) runs and chose to run out of bounds instead of trying to make the truly big play. That disappoints me tremendously. To me that is squandering your God given talent because you don't want to risk injury. Not impressed at all by that. Leave it on the field for Christ's sake. He is good, but could be much better yet. Sad.. I hate whining about penalties because it makes me feel like a loser, but c'mon man. Very bad illegal contact penalty on first drive to setup the Pats for their first score. On the busted run for a touchdown there should have been a holding call on 70 for the Patriots. Kiko was in position to make the tackle. That supposed probowl guard for the Patriots dragged Kiko to the ground with a hand on his jersey. It was holding all the way and resulted in 7 points for the Patriots. B.S. I wanted to throw my friggin beer at the LCD. Damn those refs. And those aren't the only two situations I had issues with. There were many penalties the Patriots got away with that were never called. Terrible, terrible refereeing. Thad overall played bad in my opinion with the exception of his very good long passes and that one bootleg scramble play where he found TJ. That was a play that championship quarterbacks make. Unfortunately we don't see that out of any Bill's quarterbacks enough. I was stunned when he did that. Don't recall seeing EJ do that. Maybe he has and I don't recall it. But man I wish EJ would make some of those plays. Those are the plays that can be game changers. Disagree about the tight end in this game. I thought Chandler had a very bad drop early in the game and then redeemed himself by being an excellent receiver thereafter. I have really liked Chandler prior to this season. I don't think he is as bad as people make him out to be though. I think he is a very slightly above average pass receiving tight end. If we can draft better than him then fine, but I think he is good enough. Very disappointed in play calling again in this game. I don't understand why Thad didn't have designed runs. Should have been running quarterback draws out of the shotgun today I felt, especially on third and short. Very, very disappointed in Hughes this game. He played better in the second half. In the first half though it seemed like he had mailed the season in. He would take a step forward right into the block of an O-lineman without any attempt to break the block off. He just watched the runners pass him. I was so mad at his lack of effort I wanted to cut him on the spot. And I thought he had a terrific season up till today. He didn't look like he cared at all in my opinion. I blame the coaching staff a lot for today too. A lot of the players looked like they just didn't care, especially on defense. Lots of missed tackles. Lots of lazy walks back to the line of scrimmage with whatever attitudes after giving up 8 and 10 yard runs. Ridiculous. This team did not show up with a winning attitude. Coaches fault for letting that happen. They just didn't want to win bad enough.
  12. Just cuz I'm Polish doesn't mean dat everything dat I say is funny? Or maybe it is to yoooz guys dammit. I'm sure you do get a chuckle out of my opinions from time to time as my opinions are sometimes out there...
  13. Have any of you guys ever watched that old show Mystery Science Theater 3000? Basically they would just sit and mock out a movie and make funny comments as the movie played. It would be funny to have someone talented do that for football games.
  14. Yeah.. It's the right call if you are a Jet's fan. Not a wise decision there based on anything, including how the game is going. If you want to go for it there, you run a fake punt. Or, if it is half way through the 4th quarter maybe I go for it there. Under these circumstances no. But really, I don't care that they did go for it. I was more so enjoying the fact that Dierdorf said that the Dolphins "Must" go for it as if there was no choice. That is really what I was laughing at. And then he got the call wrong. Totally laughable.
  15. lol At Dierdorf..... He says the Dolphins have to go for it on 4th down when the ball is still their side of the 50. (4 minutes into 2nd half down by one touchdown). Love it. Dolphins get stuffed. Turnover on downs. Lol Dierdorf...
  16. If that is the impression you got from my post then I should have been clearer. Of course I know it takes a team. But this thread is about quarterbacks specifically isn't it? I thought I was clear in my stance on "quarterbacks". My point was making sure you have a talented enough quarterback relative to other quarterbacks. That is all. I would be sure to have a quarterback that would not hinder the teams playoff run but rather be helpful towards it or at least neutral. If you start the season knowing that your best quarterback is a below average quality quarterback, then you are guilty of what I am talking about. I would consider a quarterback that is capable of taking a team to the playoffs to be "about an average quarterback" or better. Yes of course you need to have a playoff caliber team around him as well or else your average qb will not get you there. Hope that makes it clear.
  17. Just like the other guys said already... one knee = two feet or you can have any other part of your body (other than a hand) touch down in bounds and have it be considered in bounds. Other parts of the body include torso, head, shoulder, forearm, knee, thigh, hip, elbow, etc.
  18. Sorry. I thought I did a good job of avoiding the name while still keeping it relevant to a Buffalo Bills forum. Would you rather have me delete that paragraph?
  19. Well then my answer would be this: First of all, I wouldn't start a season without a quarterback that I wasn't confident could take me to the playoffs that year. Assuming I had at least one quarterback I was that confident in, I would play the one on my roster that I thought was the best. I would keep playing him year after year under two conditions: 1) I haven't found a better quarterback 2) this guy keeps taking me to the playoffs. If he missed the playoffs 2 years in a row and I felt it was due to his poor performance, I would try very hard to find someone better.
  20. I don't necessarily think that keeping a QB 6 years is too long. Keeping a guy as your starter for that long would be a mistake unless he is taking you to the playoffs consistently. I think the better question is how long do you keep starting a guy, not how long do you keep a quarterback. I think you should only be starting a quarterback that you believe can take you to the playoffs. That should be your decision every year at the start of the season. Best guy starts period. And, if you do not have a guy that you are confident can take you to the playoffs, then you have done a really poor job of putting a talented team together. At no point during the course of this year did the Bills have a "good enough to get to the team to the playoffs" quarterback on their roster. Well, maybe Matt Flynn (in a stretch), but he never got to play. And that lack of having a talented enough QB on the roster is the fault of the front office. This season was a throwaway from the get go unless you somehow got surprisingly good play out of that position somehow. So how long do you keep a guy a starter is the better question I think. Keeping a guy on your roster that you think will take you to the playoffs and possibly all the way is a good idea I think regardless of how many years it might take (without getting ridiculous) as long as you think he is making substantial progress year after year.
  21. I'm watching the Jets vs Miami game. Dierdorf mentions how bad the Dolphin's offense was last week against Buffalo. He mocks them 2 or 3 times saying how anemic they were. Never once did I hear him credit the Buffalo Defense with playing an outstanding dominating game. Still no respect. At times I have dreamed of pegging Dierdorf in the head with a snowball in the stadium parking lot at the Ralph. No I wouldn't really do it, but the thought is nice.
  22. Defense will definitely need to show up and play nearly their best game of the year if the Bills are to win today. And I hope to see lots of quarterback draws today on 3rd and short. Let Thad do what he does (play with heart and passion and determination). Get the running game going. Keep the chains moving. Keep Brady on the sideline. Eat the clock. Control the football. A couple shots down the field long to either Goodwin or Graham at some point. Gotta complete those today or at least draw flags. Looking for Chandler to have a big game and a crucial touchdown today. Go for touchdowns instead of field goals. Bills won't win playing conservative in the red zone. Would like to see Marrone go for it on 4th and short in the red zone today. Stick it to em! Any given Sunday baby!! Go Bills!
  23. If you think someone is trolling then don't respond to them. The quickest way to get rid of a troll is to ignore them. They are specifically doing what they do to push your buttons. When a troll reads how pissed off you are, you are giving them the very satisfaction they seek. Just ignore them. Skip that thread and go contribute on a thread that is more to your liking. People are going to get mad here. It is a sports forum. If we were in a ginmill there would be fist fights here daily.
