Brady 4 game suspension upheld; Will go to court
PolishDave replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You are welcome my friend. Glad I could help. No reason to get excited. It is just an opinion. Sorry it doesn't agree with yours. Seems like a lot of pent up hostility around here. -

Way to blow it out of proportion and compare it to a murder case - now that is funny. It's not a murder case. I'm surprised I need to explain that to you. It is possible that no prosecutor would want to touch it. It is also possible that someone would (like maybe someone who doesn't plan on living in New England for the rest of their lives perhaps.) Or someone who believes that nobody is above the law perhaps. Not everyone is part of the good ole boy network. If they were, there would be no such thing as whistle blowers. Maybe someone in law enforcement holds him accountable and maybe not. There also might be a lot of pressure from outside the New England area that forces their hand. It is a national profile case you know. Who knows what would happen..... -

I think you underestimate the political aspirations and ego driven character of a lot of district attorneys and prosecutors out there. They live for publicity. Going after Tommy Girl would be a great way to get that kind of high level publicity. A lot of them love high profile controversial cases. -
How Does Indy Game Plan for Taylor?
PolishDave replied to PolishDave's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's the thing, the term "run first quarterback" is not a common phrase at all. It is a phrase that people used here to paint an exaggerated picture of a quarterback who runs the ball more often in passing situations instead of looking to pass it. Google it. You will see for yourself. There is a wikipedia page for the term "dual-threat quarterback" which is a much more accurate term to describe quarterbacks like Tyrod Taylor who have enough of the right kind of talent that allows them to make plays with their legs in addition to their arms. That is a much more accurate description of Tyrod Taylor than what you are using. Why not just tell the truth and use the right words for the right situation? The only reason not to use the proper terms is if you have some kind of agenda of making the guy out to be something he isn't. And I assume that you don't. -

When a QB is in the wildcat formation, then you could call him a "run-first" quarterback. But, in most situations there is no such thing as a "run-first" quarterback. That is the point. The term "run first quarterback" is a misleading term that serves no purpose other than to cause miscommunication and arguments over something that doesn't even exist. The English language has plenty of words and phrases to describe a quarterback who has a higher propensity to run when pressured in passing situations. If you want to abbreviate it then call him a "run-talented" quarterback or "run-minded" quarterback or "dual-threat" quarterback or "gifted-runner" quarterback or come up with a better phrase yet. But calling him a "run-first" quarterback is just misleading and untruthful. And you won't get your point across properly to the person you are speaking to if that person actually understands English. -

I just Googled the term and tried looking for a definition for "run first quarterback" and couldn't come up with anything. I think your definition of it is misleading. What you are talking about is a "run tendency when pressured" quarterback or something along those lines. In my mind, "run first" automatically implies that he runs with the ball as a first choice instead of throwing the ball as a first choice. And that isn't Tyrod Taylor. -

Still don't understand why people think this and say this. He throws far more often than he runs. He is a throw first QB with the potential to hit a big run when his receivers aren't open. That is a huge asset in a quarterback. It is not a drawback. -

Here are some negatives about the Colts from preseason game 3 that a person posted on one of their forums: Negatives: D'Qwell Jackson is still incredibly slow and a liability every pass play. Geathers worked as a nickel-LB during TC and I don't know how he'd fair there during the regular season, but he at least offers some speed on passing downs. The Colts are probably going to be near the top of the league in missed tackles this season. It's been a theme through 3 games thus far. Werner is still invisible. His first round pick status keeps him from the roster bubble where he deserves to be. WR screens are still a thing. Two tight-end sets are still a thing. "Establishing the run" is still a thing. Lance Louis. Actually, an form of run-blocking aside from like 2 carries. I'm 100% this was just a pre-season thing, but there was rarely any press-coverage. Everything was soft. Kicking a field goal on the goal-line in a pre-season game. This was classic Pagano. If you need a first down and are playing the Colts, call a RB screen. It's basically a free first down. Source I highlighted the parts that are relevant to our offense being able to move the ball. Missed tackles? Let's hope so! -
QB Tyrod Taylor to start Week 1
PolishDave replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why would Cassel's agent leak it? Does Cassel have a better shot at starting somewhere other than Buffalo? Even with TT getting named starter, isn't this place still Cassel's best shot at getting a starting position again? -

I highly doubt that. They don't need to resign him right away. -

He'll catch his own. It will be a lofty ball and he'll just run and go get it - deep post. Then all the analysts will be saying "we knew he could play receiver too". -

The real T-mobile would be nuts for not taking all the free publicity. -

If you drive by the stadium right now, you will see a lantern hanging from the scoreboard. Remember the phrase "one if by land two if by sea"? Well, they are going with the land and that means Tyrod Taylor. -
Who steps up as the leader with Fred gone?
PolishDave replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, if he is successful during the regular season, I think leadership will quickly fall right onto TT. He's been in the league a couple years. It could become his team. If he is unsuccessful, then it will fall to someone else who plays well and has the spirit to lead. Not sure who that would be on offense. -
[closed]Taylor named starter
PolishDave replied to metzelaars_lives's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just razzing him. I gave him a bunch of crap the other day for saying he knew who it was but he wasn't going to tell. I'm sure he wanted to spill the beans, at the same time he didn't want to risk his friendship with the person who told him. I get it. Just razzin. -
Cheers bub

Nope. Not my words. I never said nor intended to imply anything about 3 and outs. My implication is that with EJ Manuel in there, the offense doesn't move the chains well enough. He has moved the chains well at times (which is why people talk about his moments of greatness), just not well enough for me. That's all. As for the stat thing, you have to read that other thread (which ins't very long by the way) in order to get why I am not going to bother to do all the research it takes to dig up every last stat which in the end will end up being a meaningless stat anyway. It would be a giant waste of my time. No thanks. My goal isn't to convince you in particular of anything. You live in a free (mostly free) country. You are entitled to have an opinion and its okay if its different than mine it should be the same as mine.

The suspense is eating away at my soul. I want Brady flogged in public. Was that an option in this case? -
Cool man... Nice one!
