I hope he says this every week and reminds inexperienced fans how it is supposed to work. Because, it is surprising how many "Bills Fans" still don't get it. Who hasn't heard somebody in their section stand up and scream "Come on (insert whoever is playing qb for the Bills at that point in time) !" while the Bills are trying to move the chains on offense? You see it happen every single game and it feeds on itself. People stand up and start clapping and start yelling things like "Come on! Let's go!" It is cool they are cheering their team on. But their timing sometimes. They need to be taught/reminded how it is supposed to work.

I'm not buying the "had interest from other teams" line. I call B.S. on Cassel. He seemed to mention it rather nonchalantly in that piece. I doubt anyone was seriously interested in him besides Buffalo. There would have been rumors that he was talking with other teams....

So many people butt hurt by the fact that the coach said EJ is #3 instead of #2. Either way he isn't playing. So who cares? He is still in the NFL as of today and still a Buffalo Bill. Isn't that what you wanted?

Sarcasm? Hey, didn't Matt Cassel already give our playbook to the Patriots the night he was first released from the Bills?

Karlos is a monster runner. I am confident he will be good when he gets the football. My biggest question with him is, will he read pressure properly and pick up blitzers anywhere near as well as Fred Jackson did? That remains a question that could end up haunting the Bills if he is not good at it. I think Karlos is going to improve the Bills' rushing attack a lot which is what this coaching staff seems to be all about. So I am glad he is here.

If the offense can move the ball as well as they did in preseason (big IF) then there will be times when the Bills have a big lead on other teams and will force teams to become one dimensional. If that happens, then this defense is going to look better than they did last year. And they will become a turnover generating machine. If the offense doesn't move the ball well and doesn't score, then I think this defense will look a little worse than last year. I just don't see how its possible to get that kind of performance out of your d-line starters in back to back years. I didn't think the defense would get better under Schwartz though, and it did. So, maybe this year will be even better. I would be pleasantly surprised if it turns out that way.

Should we start a money pool on how long it is before we hear that the Patriots bring in Matt Cassel for a look? I say the news breaks tomorrow around 10AM.

You know what else probably helped? I bet they got several phone calls inquiring about possibly trading EJ and zero phone calls about people wanting Cassel. That might help a coach think, the rest of the league sees potential in this guy where they don't see the other guy having enough value to pursue. Not saying it was a difference maker. Just saying that it probably reassured the coach and Whaley that they were making the right decision to cut Cassel loose while keeping EJ.

They must have been trying something fierce to find somebody who wanted Cassel for anything at all. Hard to believe they couldn't get anything for him at all.

I think he probably was number 3 throughout camp right until the end when he played that perfect game. The perfect game is probably what pushed him high enough in the minds of the coaches to make them think he should be number 2. Regardless though, does it really matter. He made the team and Cassel didn't. They obviously think EJ is better for the team than Cassel when factoring everything in which includes talent evaluation and salary.

Pats will bring him in and get a copy of the playbook. Then they will let him go.

Yep. I got one too. I have no idea what it is. I am annoyed that I have to look into it to be honest with you. I hate when companies do crap like that. I didn't ask for the card. Don't send me one. It is about as annoying as those blank checks you get in the mail from some credit card companies. I have even called the bank and asked that they please don't send any more of them so I don't have to constantly shred them. The bank said sorry, we won't stop sending them.
