  1. And obviously you missed the much bigger point. Mine is that it's pretty dumb to bother arguing whether or not the Bills are better than the Browns - heck, even having to have such an arguement is an indictment of the Bills. You know which teams don't have to compare themselves to what is arguably the worst team in the league? Good ones. Oh, and average ones, too. And ones that have fallen on tough times, but aren't very far removed from success. They don't bother because there isn't anything to argue. There isn't even a question that they're better. You know what other fan base is out there right now comparing themselves to the Browns? Raiders fans, that's who. The Bills have been bad for a very, very long time. So long that the vast majority of teams and their fans look down on the Bills and their fans. I'm sorry that looking down on the worst team in the league and telling them they suck and that we're better than them doesn't make me happy or give me a feeling of accomplishment. I'm not sure how anyone takes pride in that. Go ahead and have yourself printed up a tee shirt with "At Least We Aren't The Browns" on it if that distracts you from the reality of the last decade and a half of Bills seasons. Again, I'll set my bar higher than that.
  2. If your bar for success is "better than the Browns" then we need to have a long talk.......
  3. Goodell is crooked, but he's not stupid. Why venture into in the situation where he might be asked some very uncomfortable questions for which he has no good answers?
  4. Yeah, but did they take into consideration the boost teams like Seattle and Pittsburgh (just to name two) get from their PED use? Watching a certain set of teams "develop" talent regularly from mid rounds and beyond sends up red flags. Seeing those same teams consistiently finish their seasons stronger than most teams - both in terms of wins and losses as well as their abilities to physically dominate at that point and it gets pretty obvious which teams are pushing PEDs. Throw in some PED busts like Seattle had last season and the HGH Doctor in Pittsburgh - who got busted two years after his long tenure with the Steelers - and things start to look pretty shady. It's sad to think that to have a real chance a team not only needs a quality QB, but has to cheat hard. It's really killing the sport for me.
  5. A stupid selection made by an owner all Browns fan can only hope has learned his lesson.
  6. Marrone bailed because he didn't get an extension that he hadn't earned. So he figured he could double dip, which he could not have done if fired as his contract would've had offsets. He obviously miscalculated. His decision is not only going to cost him money over the next two years, it will cost him long term. He is had four years as a head coach - two at Syracuse and two with the Bills. He bailed out of each the minute he thought it would financially benefit him. Can you imagine the heat the GM or owner of a team would take if they hired Marrone and he bailed out after two or three years? He might get one more chance at some point, but that will be it for him if he does not show better for longer.
  7. OUCH!Another difference: Armstrong had his titles stripped, the Cheatriots will keep theirs.
  8. Has he started screaming at his Offensive Coordinator yet?
  9. It looks like a giant aquarium, which I guess is fitting.
  10. That cap hit is due to the Steelers habit of turning salary into signing bonuses throughout the intermediate years of their big money players. It screams for an extension more than a trade. Unless Roethlisberger and the Steelers fail to come to terms on a contract this offseason and that leads to a trade demand I don't expect him to be attainable. Nice thought though - and stranger things have happened.
  11. Meh. Most owners aren't that close I'm guessing. They'd step on another owner's toes and hire a guy who they thought could help them win without thinking twice. The problem with Marrone is, apparently, owners don't seem to think that that's the case with him. They also might not trust him to stick around whether not he wins. I'm guessing what would bother every owner out there would be look stupid. Having similar issues a second time around with Marrone would certainly qualify.
  12. Couldn't talk his way into another NFL HC job, huh? Awwwww, too bad.
  13. I would take Peyton Manning in a heartbeat. He's going somewhere where he can win a championship (and get paid). That's his agenda. If he is open to coming to Buffalo I sell out for him. Too many here are mistaking an injured Peyton Manning for a washed up Peyton Manning.
  14. What are they going to say about Manuel? He sucks? We don't expect him to be around long? Talk the kid up early and often. It does no harm. Here are possible results: - You might get surprised and see the light go on with him (unlikely, but not impossible) - You might be stuck with him starting due to not signing a better QB or injury to that QB (like with Kolb) - It sets the table to talk him up some more so that you maximize his trade value in the event you are able to move on. The talk means nothing except that the FO has a clue.
  15. CountDorkula: Can I ask why? I live in ATL now and love it. Fair question. I deleted my first two answers because I was dancing and I didn't want to open a can of worms here. I have not spent time in Atlanta recently (other than to change planes) so things may have changed, but it was the whole racial atmosphere when I was there that was unsettling to me. I'm a white, socially liberal male who was raised in the Midwest and I was surprised that a large city - even in the South - still had the general attitude and divide that I saw at the time. Again, I didn't see all of the city and it was a long time ago that I had to make visits there for work, but it made a bad impression on me. I'll just leave it at that.
  16. Only the bravest of souls in Columbus should venture far from home tonight. Have fun and GO BUCKS!
  17. I'd rather live in Cbus over Atlanta, too (and as you know, I have). That place must be absolutely batshit crazy right now. Is anything at all getting done this week?
  18. There's no way the Lions can tag Suh. He'd have a $26.7M tag. Notably Detroit will already have $9.7M in dead money to account for in 2015. That's a $36.4M cap hit total if Detroit were to franchise him. Incidentally they are at $120.4M now, including Suh's dead money so they'd have to make space to do that and even more space for draft picks and other FAs/RFAs. Conclusion: He's definitely gone from Detroit. Rumor has it that Suh is letting his agent handle the contract, which means he's looking for maximum value with little/no regard for which team he goes to. Money will be talking big time so look for a deal that eclipses JJ Watts' contract.
  19. I'm not from Buffalo and have only lived here 2.5 years. It isn't perfect by any stretch, but it is a place I like living. I've been to Atlanta enough to know that it is not a place I would want to live. Thus Buffalo gets the nod from me. I'm sure I'm in the minority on that preference, but I'd be willing to bet it is a bigger minority than you think.
  20. If you had a 50-50 chance to win each game, the odds of losing (or winning) all of the games is 1-in-64, or about 1.5%. Ouch. Sorry, that's gotta hurt. I was playing no limit Texas hold em with a group that I used to get together with. I got up big and was the clear favorite in the middle of the game. Blinds were going up and moves needed to be made. I lost six straight "coin flips" (AK v. small/middle pair and the like) and finished 4th which was out of the money. Less than 1% chance of that happening even when I worked up exact odds. It's brutal, but it happens. And I've been on the right side of bad beats, too.
  21. Ryan's order is easily explained: Best QB situation: Atlanta 2nd best: SF Worst: Buffalo Best place of the three to live: SF - and by a very, very wide margin. SF is incredible, especially if you have money. I don't give Atlanta the nod over Buffalo as a better place to live, though. Personally I much prefer Buffalo, but Atlanta is obviously bigger. Not too difficult to see why Rex would order his choices as he did. No hard feelings here.
  22. But, but, but, wasn't he super close to getting hired by somebody? Just like when the Browns were rumored to be on the verge of offering him the HC job in Cleveland and the Bills rushed to hire him. It was BS then and it was BS a week ago. This guy is a .500 coach who thinks of himself (and portrays himself) as an elite HC.
  23. Rex is a good head coach. The media aspect is meaningless where wins and losses are concerned. This is a good move IMO. I just figured he'd wind up in Atlanta as I didn't think he'd come to Buffalo. Guess I was wrong on that.
  24. Marrone was just denied an extension by the Pegulas and chose to walk away. Does anyone think he spoke well of them or the organization behind closed doors? How about the GM he had a horrible relationship with? Polian knew he'd be hearing a lot of negatives from Marrone when he talked to him. There might have been some specifics that concerned him, but I have trouble understanding what new information he could have gleaned. Marrone hasn't worked with the Pegulas long and any negatives about them have to be taken with a grain of salt. He'd be replacing the GM and would be in position to hire and fire those below him as he saw fit. Maybe he told him the scouting department and coaching staffs would be total tear downs and rebuilds, but that's not to be unexpected either. I am really not sure what Marrone could have said that would have dissuaded Polian if his heart was in it.
  25. Agreed. This rumor is the work of Marrone's agent. the reality of the situation is this: Marrone asked for an extension for himself and his staff. He was denied on all counts so he opted out of his contract. Some will reason that he was justified because of the lack of commitment by the new ownership. I disagree. He didn't get the extension because he didn't prove himself worthy of it and that's on him. If he'd have earned it, he'd have gotten it. He was just lucky that he was in a position to get $4M to walk away.
