  1. Tawdry reality shows, tawdry exposés, tawdry dramas. I don't see what the difference is with any of the above. People, even smart ones, watch shows that titillate them for good or ill. In fact much of what is on TV, what people read, etc. isn't "high art", so you know, who cares?
  2. I am less worried than some here about what the Toronto games mean for the future of the Bills in Buffalo. However, I still worry about the future of the team. Congress' stick to use against the NFL is that it has exempted pooling broadcast rights of all the teams from anti-trust scrutiny under the Sports Broadcasting Act. This has often been referenced as a stick Congress could use against the NFL if they object to, among other things, franchise relocations. (Baseball has a court-made general exemption, but it is the only league to have this.) Perhaps there would not be enough outrage over the Bills moving to motivate enough Congressmen to support using this against the NFL. However, what about the following legislation to make it easier for the team to remain in Buffalo. 1. Pass a law that defers all federal estate tax on a professional sports franchise until the sports franchise leaves its home market. 2. Exempt league actions preventing franchise relocations (e.g., refusing to approve franchise relocations) from anti-trust law in order to prevent any fears of Al Davis type law suits like what occurred when he moved the Raiders.
  3. I am not sure that 37% positive means "good reviews."
  4. Good thing I always keep a mili 9 in my waistband.
  5. I couldn't tell from the article, are they talking about the flicking headlights thing? If so, this is ridiculous.
  6. OH NOESSS!!!!11!! Mercury vapors!!! ONE!!!
  7. I say remove the force out rule and follow the college rule of having one foot being sufficient.
  8. I have more of a problem with the halogen headlights that more and more cars have now.
  9. Oh snap... http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/pftalk/~3/259112964/
  10. My lights run on the methane from my composting toilet, so can I still keep them on?
  11. I am sorry, I am being stupid. I still don't understand. If for example, the Bills win the toss and choose a side to defend, do they not now currently get the ball first in the second half?
  12. Silly me, I thought a team could elect to kick rather than receive if they won the toss. Or in other words, I thought they could just a side instead. Madden at least is this way.
  13. Whatever happened to the talk of Rochester getting an MLS team? I am not living in WNY right now and last track of that story.
  14. Ross Tucker knows more than us, but other people who know more than us may disagree. 2 extra sacks doesn't sound like much, but that's 200% more. You can slice it a lot of different ways.
  15. I am a big Trent supporter, but they said two knocks on him: (1) injury prone and (2) underthrows deep throws at times (yet still can make all the throws...)
  16. Lots of women marry idiots. In fact, lots of people on this board are married. I don't think he'll be able to use that as a defense against negligent homicide or manslaughter.
  17. I have already fought this fight, so I won't re-visit it. However, it seems like the wife is paying the price for the husband's mistake.
  18. Strong safeties can be drafted fairly high, but FS? It's odd to me that our top ten pick of 2006 will be moving to a position oft filled with people from the second day.
  19. Will this mean that one will not have to choose btw baseball and football broadcasts?
  20. That's fine with me. No one buys a car on economics, otherwise we'd all be buying 1998 Accords or something. People will pay for more luxury, more technology, more for style, more for fuel efficiency, etc.
  21. You'd have to save approximately $4000-$7000 to make up the price difference over the Corolla.
  22. The economy sounded better back then though.
  23. Yes because price controls have always succeeded and never have created shortages.
  24. Those who want the government to do something about the high prices have a short memory of history (and econ 101) considering how well price caps worked in the 1970s.
