  1. This is unbelievable. Yeah, you could say it ran aground. This was a great job by the crew just to get back to port. http://www.navy.mil/view_single.asp?id=21183
  2. The problem with Sproles is that he's only 5'5. Its not totally fair to him, but at that height, he'll be very lucky to be drafted. If there's a guy to keep an eye on during the game, its Matt Jones of Arkansas. He's one of those guys who was a college option QB but will have to play WR or TE in the pros. So, he's a project. Here's the thing: he's 6'6 242 and will run in the 4.4s. Being a Razorback fan, I've seen him play probably half his college games. You don't want him playing QB because he makes too many mistakes, but then again, he's the best athlete I've ever seen for a guy his size. Given some development at WR or TE, he'll be a major weapon for some team two or three years down the line.
  3. You might want to reconsider that bet. Bledsoe scored a 37. A high wonderlic score is just like any other test score. It doesn't necessarily guarantee success on the field.
  4. The problem is that most NFL teams are smart enough to realize that you are correct. Draft choices are overvalued by fans. If I'm a GM, why would I want to trade a good player for another good player, when I can get that same player in a trade for a draft pick? The draft pick just represents an opportunity to pick another good player, not a guarantee. Even 1st round picks only live up to expectations about half the time, and it gets worse as the rounds progress. Consider another scenario (and I'm not saying its realistic, its just an example). Lets suppose Dallas wants a RB. They could offer the Bills their TE Jason Witten straight up for Henry and if I'm Donahoe, I take that trade in a second. However, they could instead offer the Bills pick #19 (the Bills old pick), which lets them keep Witten and again, which the Bills would very likely accept. Which is a more attractive deal for the Cowboys? Trading the pick is clearly more attractive as they get to keep an excellent young TE while adding a solid RB (though in the real world, the Bills would probably have to add more than just Henry). If they trade Witten for Henry, the Cowboys gain Henry but lose a good TE they likely won't easily replace, though they still have a draft pick with about 50% odds of living up to his billing. If I'm the Cowboys in this situation, I offer the not-so sure thing, the draft pick and ensure that I get two good players out of the deal.
  5. He's done. The Bills would be better off drafting a rookie RB in the middle of the draft, or even going with the backups they have.
  6. He's been a starter for almost 20 games now. Yeah, he's a rookie, but you don't expect him to play like total crap after that many starts, which is exactly how he's played the last two weeks against two good teams. For the record, I had a bad feeling about Roethlisberger prior to the draft and did not want the Bills to select him. While he may make a believer out of me yet, at this point, I would still opt for our first round picks 10 times out of 10 instead of Roethlisberger.
  7. If the Steelers want to have any chance at winning, I think Maddox is indeed their only chance now. It won't happen though. Cowher will stick with Roethlisberger and the Steelers will be shut out in the second half.
  8. I don't think its a driver issue. At the very least, there should be a signal to the monitor and the computer should try to boot to Windows. If you aren't getting any signal whatsoever to the monitor, I'd try it in another slot (or all of them, if necessary). I would probably try the one closest to the CPU first. If that doesn't work and you still get no signal to the monitor, I'd probably conclude that the board is defective. It will also be incompatible if, as VABills suggested, you're trying to use a PCI express board in a regular PCI slot.
  9. The official number was six drops, I believe. In my opinion, dropped passes are the one thing that is inexcusable in a WR. If a WR can't catch, what good is he? I think Reed has an uphill fight to stay on the roster. He was on the verge of losing the #3 job late this past season to Sam Aiken, a player the Bills seem to like a lot. Given that Freddie Smith will probably be retained as a return man, Reed could find himself in a lot of trouble if the Bills bring in a mid round draft pick at the position to compete for the last couple of roster spots. In the end, my guess is that Reed is going to need an impressive training camp in order to make the final 53 this season.
  10. You also have no idea what Henry's worth in a trade may or may not be. Neither do I. Neither do any of us. Its ALL speculation at this point.
  11. I know the answer already, but I have a question for you guys... What are the odds that a R2-7 pick at QB will go on to have a career as a successful, reliable NFL starter for a decent period of time (in other words, leave out the one year wonders)? The 1980-2000 drafts are probably a good place to look.
  12. Actually, Trent Dilfer was the last 1st round QB to win a Super Bowl.
  13. If Schobel is average, wouldn't that imply that he could start on about half the teams in the league? Basically, all I did was call Schobel a somewhat above average player. I didn't say he was Jevon Kearse's long lost twin.
  14. I can understand why a team wouldn't interview Jerry Gray. Look at the talent he has to work with. When a guy like Aaron Schobel, who could probably start for 2/3rds of the teams in the NFL, is only the 7th or 8th best player on the D, good defense is expected of Gray. He's going to have to continue building that resume for a while longer.
  15. Well, if its not Losman, its going to be some other young QB in a year or two who will need that pass protection as well.
  16. Why? Jennings is a good football player who has proven that he can play that position very effectively. If the Bills let him go, they risk not being able to find a replacement. If they move Teague to LT, assuming he succeeds there (questionable given his time in Denver), who plays C??? You'd just be moving the problem around by doing this, and would likely weaken the overall play of the LT-LG-C portion of the OL in the process. I very seriously doubt Teague will be as good a LT as Jennings. Just bite the bullet and pay the guy, even if it means paying a little too much. The Bills need two good, proven OTs to protect Losman while he's learning. They've got one, Jennings, and Williams is beginning to live up to the draft position. Now is not the time to start tinkering with it.
  17. ---The player who first controls and continues to maintain control of a pass will be awarded the ball even though his opponent later establishes joint control of the ball. http://www.nfl.com/fans/rules/forwardpass
  18. Just give it to 'em.
  19. So, in other words, its basically the same as every other game the Patriots play.
  20. Yeah, that was an unbelievable comment by Simms. Everyone knows that helmet-to-helmet hits are always illegal...unless of course its a Patriot defender who does it. Then its a great play.
  21. Their season certainly is not over. I'd place the odds that the Patsies will win the Super Bowl this season somewhere around 100%.
  22. Indeed I am. I'd much rather see the Bills miss the playoffs on their own weaknesses than to have wins giftwrapped for my team.
  23. I think Donahoe would argue that he got most of the mileage he expected out of the Bledsoe trade. He was a veteran stopgap that could keep the Bills reasonably competitive until Donahoe could a) rebuild the team's talent base, and b) find a young QB to takeover. Bledsoe largely filled that role and now that Donahoe appears to have finished both of those tasks, Bledsoe is expendable and the Bills hopefully have a better player waiting to replace him in Losman.
  24. The refs are healthy for this game, aren't they? They should be good for 7-10 points for the Pats.
  25. I don't see it happening. I suspect that he's just looking at the reality of the situation, that the Bills are better off spending Bledsoe's salary elsewhere and taking their chances with Losman. They'll probably retain their own FAs while signing a solid, if unspectacular FA or two like they did with Villarial.
