  1. I blame myself. As a UK Bills fan of 35 years, I remember seeing the 1990 London game (which the Bills won). I've been over to Buffalo 6 times and the Bills have won every game I've seen. The only time I'd seen the Bills lose was 8 years ago when I took my family to see the Jags game. Today I took my family to see the Jags game - and we lost. Next time my family stays at home!
  2. Got 4 tickets last time the Bills were in London. Position 258000+ today so no chance. My (grown-up) son is very disappointed - he needs me to get tickets otherwise he'll be expected to run in his local half-marathon on the same day. Ah well, there's always the re-sale market.....
  3. I am coming over from the UK for the Steelers game. My 6th visit to Orchard Park – Bills have won all the previous 5 (Patriots 2011, Jets 2013, Vikings 2014, Broncos 2017, Dolphins 2019). Confident that this will be 6 out of 6 (38-17). What’s the local weather forecast for the weekend?
  4. I am a UK Bills fan. In the 1980s the NFL brought some pre-season games to London (Wembley Stadium). I went with friends, out of curiosity, and got hooked. Then there was the Cornelius Bennett trade where reporters said that the Bills had been out-manoeuvred by the Colts and Rams. I knew nothing about Buffalo but wondered if the team did, actually, know what they were doing. I read about Buffalo and thought it sounded like my sort of town so I started following the Bills to see how the trade turned out and I’ve been a fan ever since. Since I retired, I’ve been over to Buffalo four times (and each time the Bills have won – I’ve only seen the Bills lose once, when they came to Wembley in 2015!). I aim to come over again this year.
  5. Just booked my latest trip from the UK. I'm coming at the end of September for the Broncos game. My idea of a perfect weekend is Friday fly to Buffalo, Saturday in Buffalo with Philharmonic Concert in the evening, Sunday see a Bills victory (this'll be my 4th visit and the Bills have won the other 3!), home Monday or Tuesday.
  6. Would I "sing high praises for a game manager?" For a game manager who, 4 days after the previous game, takes his team, away, to a divisional rival, with a winning record, and brings us back a big "W", I'd take the biggest megaphone I could find to the top of Buffalo City Hall and yell his name for all WNY to hear. Apparently a great game it was not (I didn't see it as kick-off was 1.30 in the morning here in the UK) but I'll take the result any day.
  7. At least I now know what it feels like to be a real Bills fan. I've followed them for many years but this was only the 5th time I've managed to get to one of their games - and they won the other four. So this is how true Bills fans feel, watching them lose a game they could have won (and needed to). You all have my sympathy!
  8. I’ve been a UK fan of the Bills for a long time. I live 40 minutes from Wembley by train so this is a LOT cheaper for me than flying over to Buffalo (which I have done three times recently). I was also at Wembley the last time the Bills played there – in July 1991 when they beat the Eagles. The Bills have won all 4 games that I have attended so here’s hoping that run continues! Hope all you visitors have a great time over here (just remember that we have to pay for programmes at games and theatres etc). GO BILLS!!!
  9. A young man with a young family, learning his craft at Syracuse. His boss gets a job with an NFL team and takes Nate with him where he has to deal with regular changes at QB over which he has no control (and the QBs are not very good). He has a weak OL which his boss is supposed to be good at fixing – but it gets no better. He gets pilloried game after game for poor play calling and now there are stories that he wanted to be more inventive but was held back by his boss – who then quits and leaves him virtually unemployable (no new HC was ever going to keep him on and his prospects of getting another OC post seem to be slim). Maybe he was in over his head, but did he really deserve this?
  10. I am amazed that anyone can claim to know how bad (or good) EJ is. I recall staying up late at night (here in the UK) to watch the 2013 Draft and I remember the expert opinion that Buffalo had made a good choice in EJ because he had all the attributes to become “whatever sort of QB you want him to be” – given time, because he was not NFL ready yet. The ONLY thing you can say about his performances to date is that they prove that this view was correct – he was not ready to lead an NFL team. I know we had little choice but to throw him in, but to form any opinion about his long-term potential is like looking at a small child who's had a few maths lessons and then declaring that they are useless because they can't solve complex quadratic equations! I believe that we must find some way of getting EJ enough playing time, this year, to see what he can do. He has now had the time – that he always needed (and deserved) - to learn from an experienced QB (who's shown him both how to play well and how to play badly). So let's see – and THEN decide. If we don't do this, now, then we won't know until the 2015 season is well under way and, if EJ is not the answer, then we've lost yet another season.
  11. Personally, this is great news! I've flown over to Buffalo from the UK 3 times in recent years to see the Bills and now I get an extra year to save up for my 2016 trip! In response to a couple of points made elsewhere... 1. We are used to seeing the Jags in London as they have come over in 2013 and 2014 and are committed to coming here in 2016 as well as 2015. 2. I guess these dates have to be arranged well in advance so that they can be agreed with the Wembley Stadium authorities and built into its schedule of other events. As regards the Bills chances of winning, (even if the 2015 Jags are much improved on the 2014 team), there seems to be a "Curse of the Home Team" at Wembley - of the 10 games so far played in London, the designated 'home' team has a 3-7 record!
  12. I fully support the switch to Orton as QB and am glad Marrone had the guts to make the change when he did (so we're not in a mess like the Jets). But Orton's not the long-term answer. Is EJ? How will we know if he's not given the chance to show that he IS learning? It's all very well him practising with the first-choice players and making notes on the sideline, but at some point he has to get out there and take some downs. Why not see what (if?) he's learnt when we're 20 points clear in the 4th quarter? If not – then when/how will we ever know if he is progressing?
  13. As a UK Bills fan, I've only seen them play live 3 times - in 1991 in a pre-season game in London then, recently, I flew over to Buffalo to see the home game against the Pats in 2011 and the home game against the Jets last season. Three games - three wins! I'm flying over again on Friday for the Vikings game. I really hope it becomes "four games -- four wins" otherwise I don't see us making the playoffs (again). The Pats are going to win the AFC East, so our only hope is a wild-card and that'll look unlikely if we keep losing winable home games.
  14. I had this down as a probable loss all along (sad but true). Would EJ have improved given the pressure he'd have been under in Detriot? I doubt it. Will Orton change an 'L' into a 'W'? I doubt that too. But what really matters is the following week. We are still (joint) top of the AFC East and MUST beat the Pats if we are to save our season. This way Orton gets a chance to work with the team in a real game, plus an extra week of practice as the starter. I reckon that does improve our chances against New England.
  15. Anyone know where we are with the 2014 Jills? I know people say that, because the Jills don't put points on the board or stop the opposition from scoring, they don't matter - but the same can be said about tailgating, kids activities and the other things that happen when the Bills play at home. I'm a UK Bills fan and am saving up to come over and see a game this autumn (sorry - "fall"!). I'll come whether the Jills are there or not but the 'game-day experience' won't be as much fun without them.
