  1. I don't believe it's standardizing game equipment. Unlike baseball, where the umpire/league is in control of all the balls, it would be crazy to let the pitchers control them, teams are allowed to practice with, break in, and adjust the PSI... , to truly standardize, the balls would be under league control throughout every aspect of the game, teams would not be allowed to control or choose balls to be used and the PSI would be the same for every ball for every team. Is silly the right word? maybe not, but I don't think it is a terribly crucial rule for the betterment of the game. If the league lets the teams control the game balls all week , in order for the qb to be very comfortable for maximum performance, let them put the PSI where the want also. If a QB has exceptionally large hands, is it an advantage to him that the rule allows for a higher PSI than other QB's would be comfortable with? Would that be an unfair advantage ?
  2. I guess by being serious, I was saying - do you seriously think a team would use of flat ball? Not really going to help the passing game. If you would like , I will state I am totally against having a totally flat ball to be legal. A few months back, I read about someone who was involved in creating this rule. He said it was a poorly written rule and he couldn't even remember why they made it a rule.
  3. I know, I'm ready. I enjoy a serious conversation about this topic. It's very complex. So when you decide to be serious, please post again.
  4. The punishment also needs to fit the crime. Yes, they broke the rule. However, it's a stupid rule which should be tossed immediately. The league wants QB's to be comfortable with the balls they use in the game. They are allowed to practice with them all week, scuff them if they want, choose which ones are used in the game and the team has control of them throughout. Each team does this. I don't understand why there is a rule about PSI of the ball. If you want the QB to be most comfortable with the balls, let them be totally comfortable. I don't believe the Patriots had an unfair advantage, cheating yes, serious - no at all.
  5. Can't imagine a player really cares how the owners got their money... as long as they sign his check they'll be happy. That's great, i hope you don't mind if I steal that phrase occasionally. I'll give you the credit of course.
  6. If you consider a great owner one that will spend money, that would include most everyone of them.
  7. I'm sure it does for some of them. But all things being equal, i bet more players would choose san diego over buffalo. either this is sarcasm or you really don't get it.
  8. I think some people get so caught up in the 'please love buffalo' thing that they fail to realize there are more than a few other nice places to live in this country. Good schools, safe neighborhoods and you get to see the sun more than occasionally.
  9. Undrafted FA can only get a limited amount for their contracts, similar to a mid round draft pick, so money won't be a factor.
  10. I'm ok with acquiring more picks, - you should have stopped right there. The rest of this boarders on ridiculous... trade for Bennett - does Chicago want to do this, same with Mathis. A team would really give up a 2, 3 and a 5 to move up a few spots in the 2nd round? Even though we give them a 6th, still makes no sense. Not just directed at you, but has a trade ever been suggested out of the blue that ever happened?
  11. then you could play in the same crap stadium for 70 years. They renovated the stadium for $295 million in 2003, another $378 million in 2015, not sure how it helps the taxpayers. a bit of an overstatement, wouldn't you say?
  12. Stop players from leaving their feet to make a tackle. A DB is going to kill a WR one of these days. Stop the clock to move the chains after a first down like in college. Makes the final minutes more exciting. Centralize coaches challenges in the main office for review, just like hockey does. Quicker, smoother process, easier to do. Change the name of the Washington football team, this is beyond ridiculous.
  13. I had us 8-1, if that means anything. Jerry Sullivan would disagree
  14. They are meaningless from a fans standpoint. Most team developing is from training camp, not from games. Games don't have game plans, you aren't on the field with players you would be on with during the regular season...., they are mostly useless. What poor quality at the beginning of the season? Can you qualify that comment with actual facts?
  15. There is only so much they can do. They still have the draft, there will be more cuts after May 12, and there is hope that last years picks will improve.
  16. Because Williams is a LG and right now the best option there. Therefore, the other guard spot is Incognito at RG. I doubt the Bills convinced Urbik to take a pay cut to be starter.
  17. Won't Incognito be on the right side, with Williams, at least for now, on the left? They need a tackle, even if Henderson starts. No viable backup at this point, and certainly no starter should Henderson not improve.
  18. Wood needs to figure it out, for some reason he's getting off a bit easy with everyone assuming the problem was the guards, not him. He was never great to begin with , there will be no excuses for him this season. Urbik won't start and Seantrel is still a bit scary on the end.
  19. Lordy, I hope so too. Glenn was dominant 2 years ago, not sure about Incognito. Wood has never been dominant, hopefully he will be 'good' and no breakdowns.
  20. I don't expect a dominant running attack, and I wouldn'l label it a power back, it's a running back. I believe the phrase 'power running game' confuses some people. It's an offense that want's the running game to be it's strength and will sometimes have 'power formations' , meaning FB, 2 TE...., that type of offense. The RB's need to follow blocks like any other offense, no RB is going to 'power' through lineman and LB much larger than them. I expect the line to be better, but more so I expect the offense to be run better on the hole. But I've said a few times before , the strength of this team will be defense and it will help us win, not just by preventing the other offense from succeeding, but by taking pressure off our offense by giving them short fields to score with and keeping the games close and not putting too much pressure on the offense. Then a big play or 2 a game by some of the talent on offense could win games for us. I'm guessing the players blocked that all out as soon as Marrone quit.
  21. Kyle Williams said there is nothing really to learn. He can't understand all the talk about having to learn new schemes. They are hardly starting from scratch on defense, especially when most of the players are the same. Maybe a bit more of a learning curve for the offense, but it's not rocket science.
  22. We have 3 QB's that haven't justified being a starter in any way, to expect a committee to be effective is unrealistic, it's never been done before, it's hard enough to find one starter, let alone 2 or 3 that you expect to rely on. I said it earlier in this thread, the key to this team will still be our defense and it's ability to give the offense short fields to help it score. We still don't have a proven offensive line and that's where the focus needs to be offensively. If the line becomes effective, everything will fall into place very well. If not, defenses will have the advantage over us, regardless of our weapons.
  23. I'm excited about the idea of someone as qualified as Roman as OC, but you make it sound so simple and it's not. It's typical off season optimism , which is fine, but when you dismiss our poor line play and unsettled QB position you really drop the ball. Every team has coaches that know what they want, they need the personnel to make it happen and it's still a huge question mark that we have them. And you really have no idea what defensive formations we will face, nobody does. You are just guessing. I think there is more potential then last year, but I believe the positive impact of our offense will be helped by our defense in forcing turnovers/3 and outs and giving our offense some short fields to take advantage of. Our team will be football at it's most basic. Run the ball and stop the run, and win the turnover battle.
