  1. I don't think people realize that Hairston is out for the season and Legursky, from the sound of what Marrone said, probably may be out for the season too.. that's a big hit... Legursky is still on the active roster, perplexingly enough. If he ends up on IR we will need to sign two O Linemen. Marcus Trufant > D Florence IMO. Florence has lost a step.
  2. 24 on defense currently, 23 on offense. I say they add a veteran QB, and an OL who can handle multiple positions. They will add a CB as well. I am not sure if we will be carrying 5 Safeties into the opener too unless Byrd's injury is serious
  3. EDIT: My inclination was that Scott wanted to retire a Bill. Now I see he might be traded. Not sure. With him gone anyway the roster is 54. Depending on Legursky's status... could be 53. Brian Galliford also thinks that between Corbin Bryant, Izaan Cross and Torell Troup, one will be cut. I'd also agree with that. I think two of them will be cut. Which means that Jamaal Westerman may have made the team, for now. Good for him.
  4. Half scoring potential? I think you are vastly overestimating players that would barely see the field on our team, let alone make another team.. that, or you're trolling. But typical Bills fan mindset. Dorin Dickerson is a man without a position, and had a pretty quiet camp. I can understand your concern about Kaufman, but he is also a rookie and pretty raw. Who is to say that he will clear waivers and make the PS? And how often would he have seen the field as a #6 receiver purely, not at ST? I was not overly impressed by his ST play. I will agree with you on Butler. Hopefully they are looking to bring in quite a few upgrades at the CB position. But dude, you need to calm down, the fact that we cut three guys does not mean doom and gloom for this season.
  5. CB Ras I' Dowling, a former 2nd round pick I believe, was released by the Patriots earlier this week. Injury prone so far in his career.
  6. Looks like IR candidates at the moment are Kolb, Legursky, and Brad Smith. I don't know how serious their injuries are, but this is what I've heard from some sources on Twitter. Take that as you may.
  7. Kendall Gaskins and Brian Smith also cut, according to Mr. Talbot..
  8. As I said in the other thread, how does Aaron Williams, Searcy and two rookies who have seen little game action sound to you? Aaron Williams as the veteran of that group? Instead of attempting to patch a hole by creating another hole, how about you address the first hole so that safety doesn't become a concern also? Maybe they will sign another CB later in cuts.
  9. Unfortunate news for Kolb. He had a lot of promise coming into the league. Tough to see his dreams shattered, but health should be a priority. It's also sad that people make Kolb an agenda. The poor mans career is over and people and harping over not keeping TJax. Get over yourself
  10. Few things Just because Brad Smith renegotiated his contract doesn't mean he's a lock. It was simply a move to try and increase his chances of making the final 53 Marrone has emphasized that every spot is up for grabs, and for him to go back on that for Rogers especially as a new coach trying to instill values into a team is unlikely, IMO. That being said, I can see Rogers getting "season-ending IR" or simply being outright cut, and its not a definite thing he doesn't fit the final 53. But if he does, I doubt he will play. Easley has been tremendous, looking at improved technique and his body type BUT I'd like to see him play with 1s/2s, the 4th preseason game will show us if he has improved that much. If he continues his improvement he has a good chance of cutting the roster as he has shown he can play STs Hogan is a possession receiver, but honestly, he's been very reliable and a gamer on STs. How many people here were shocked when Nelson was released? Kaufman has made some good plays, but again, what warrants a 7th WR that never plays? Instead, how about carrying another OL?
  11. Thank goodness they only caught him with majijuana. If he had marijuana in his possession, he'd be worse off In all seriousness, this sucks, but it also gives us an opportunity to see what else we have at LB. Im still not convinced that group is solid and reps for others can't hurt
  12. Although Kolb is not that great having a veteran with game experience is not a bad thing for Manuel- gives him "competition." I'm not enthused with the prospect of him playing at any point. I think Tuel will be inactive and if Manuel gets hurt (please no) then Tuel will be active- then if Kolb stinks it up we go Tuel. The idea that Brad Smith will play emergency QB is asinine. Let the poor guy attempt to play WR. Also, having projecting only 2 other safeties other than Byrd when we have no idea about his physical status, plans on reporting, and if he will even start is questionable. Searcy makes 53. Other than that, good work mate. Looking forward to seeing how it shakes out
  13. Bump. Now that all of the Bills 2013 picks have agreed to contracts and Doug Legursky has been signed, how much cap space remains? How should the remaining cap space by utilized- Save it? Try to get a long term deal done with Byrd? Extend the contracts of Wood or Spiller? In my opinion, it makes little sense to extend either Wood or Spiller right now. Wood has had injury troubles, so giving him a deal mid-season or postseason next year would make more sense: if he gets injured again this year, his earning potential goes down, and if he plays well and doesn't get injured, then we have good reason for him to remain on the team. Regarding Spiller, I'm sure that the Bills will create a contract commensurate to his playing level, but I just don't see it happening this offseason- I envision more along the lines of next offseason or further down the road. Finally, do you think that the Bills should cave in to Byrd's alleged demands of 9M per year, or stick to their offer of 7M roughly? Byrd is a special player, no question..
  14. Of course, the news that Jackson took 1st team snaps was met with obvious sarcasm.. the man said something like "The Bills spent money on Kevin Kolb, went out and drafted Manuel in the 1st round, so naturally they give Tarvaris Jackson 1st team reps." The problem is, ESPN and NFLN cater to the interests of their viewers, and the Bills aren't exactly hot news for everyone around the league. However I do agree with you that ESPN is spending more time analyzing the Bills this offseason, which is something I've been looking forward to for quite some time. It's a refreshing change.
  15. I personally think the whole #1 and #2 system is pretty inane. If you ask me, a team's #1 receiver is their most dependable, most-rounded, and most clutch performer. Stevie Johnson is by far the best wide receiver on this team as he has consistently showed that. In some ways, one could have also considered Wes Welker to be New England's #1 WR even though he primarily lined up in the slot. Your best WR's will start on the field, regardless of position. As Ramius put it, Stevie's stats have shown that he is a true #1 receiver.
  16. Best of luck to Kelvin. This move makes sense to me, considering Sheppard never grew into his roles in past defensive schemes and doesn't fit into Pettine's current defense scheme. Don't expect a whole lot from Hughes. One positive about Hughes, however, is that he is versatile and can provide depth at certain positions, something Kelvin could not do This also further reaffirms that the new coaching staff wants to get rid of any nonproductive players, which I like. It makes no sense to retain a player you drafted who has been atrocious in order to preserve your own reputation~ doing that only hurts the team.
  17. +1 As I now hear of other teams who are interested, I hope the Bills have enough sense to not overpay, especially with impending situations involving Byrd and Wood. If Dansby comes at an affordable price then signing him would be savvy. But I doubt that his asking price will be low
  18. Nix obviously had a great deal of influence, but it isn't wrong to say that Marrone also had quite a bit of input, seeing as he came out of college and knows these players quite well. Ok, maybe he didn't have as much influence as WEO is insinuating, but I am sure that his knowledge helped tremendously in the scouting process
