  1. A lot of cities have that if you are with the right people. Detroit has everything that you listed except NF (which no one in Buffalo ever goes to). I spent the overwhelming majority of my life in Buffalo and my family is still there. I am there all of the time. Objectively viewing though as an outsider it is near the bottom of the list. The weather is nice 3 months of the year. It’s a great place to raise a family but doesn’t offer anything that the overwhelming majority of NFL cities don’t have. I have a great time in Buffalo but I know where to go and what to do. If I were from any other city that would hold true. My sister has been in Cleveland for 20 years and that place has a lot going on compared to Buffalo. They have word class chefs (Michael Symon, Zach Burrell, Jonathan Sawyer), a bunch of breweries, 3 pro sports teams, casino, flourishing lakefront, vibrant theater district, museums, concert venues on the water, a nice zoo, etc... You can literally find a great time in any city if you know what you are doing. People always get insecure when this topic arises. Being objective though, Buffalo is way down on the list.
  2. Believe it or not I’ve been on Twitter for almost 10 years. I was a very early adopter (although I still don’t have Facebook). I follow all kinds of stuff. That was a retweet from Rob Quinn. In my defense I wasn’t following that trash site (although I do follow some). I stumbled across it.
  3. Donald will get done. They lose at New Orleans in the regular season. I think Minnesota goes into LA and beats them in the conference championship. Just trying to go bold...
  4. I’ll go bold. The Rams go 15-1 and don’t make it to the Super Bowl.
  5. This is pretty much where I’m at. If the young guys show signs of development we are good. Next year we will have almost $100m and 9 draft picks to address the offense. The big picture is a much larger concern to me this year.
  6. I love Boston but that stadium experience is terrible IMO. The traffic sucks getting out to Foxboro and the fans know nothing. Jacksonville was a hostile takeover and it was hilarious. That whole lot we were in was nothing but Bills fans. Hyperbole aside, I saw more TBD members than Jags fans there. Chicago may be my favorite city in the country but have never been to a game there. My friends from here had the worst experience when they went to the championship game there in 2007. It wasn’t an isolated incident either. People were yelling things like “we are going to finish what Katrina started.” Here are people that lost everything that they had 17 months earlier. The atmosphere that day is still a popular topic around the city.
  7. I 100% agree. If it’s a big win I can make it a few hours but rarely do I go elsewhere. We may have a few celebratory drinks and mess around. In New Orleans people may have a drink or 2 before the game and then head to warehouse district or Bourbon Street until midnight or later. My emotions have me drained by about 3:30. I don’t want to do ANYTHING that requires effort after a Bills game, no dinner, no party, no bars, no gym, no cleaning, no travel. I really just want to decompress after every Bills game. I feel like I played.
  8. It’s a different atmosphere. The party is after the game instead of before. I still can’t adapt to it. I get out between 10-11 each week and by about 3:30 I’m done with partying. They stay out though well after the game win or lose. It’s odd.
  9. Spent 26 summers in Buffalo. They don’t host 3 of the 5 biggest festivals in the country.
  10. Green Bay will be a blast. There are tons of people going. That’s way up on my list but am not sure if I’ll make it this year or not. I’m excited for Vegas because that will be a great trip. I honestly will go anywhere though and have fun. New Orleans is a lot of fun and is the best city in the world for a major sporting event. You can walk the entire time and there is everything from bars, strip clubs, casino, great restaurants, hotels, etc... within a mile of the stadium. That’s why we host so many big events. The weather is oppressive in the summer but none of those big events are in the summer.
  11. I went to school in Boston so I know it pretty well. It would be one of the greatest cities in the world if you could take everyone from Boston out of there.
  12. I’ve never been to GB or Oakland. I’d vote Detroit.
  13. I have only hit about 1/3 of the stadiums so my experience is fairy limited compared to some here. Without totally ducking the question I ALWAYS have fun on the road. Miami is a great weekend despite the lackluster game experience. New England sucks for football. NY is cool. My sister is in Cleveland so we always have a good group. I’m not a big fan of Pittsburgh. Charlotte, Atlanta and Jacksonville were fun. Houston isn’t the most fun place but had a good time there. New Orleans ended up being more of a job for me with the party. We had a great time but there was just so much prep that we didn’t get enough of a chance to enjoy it. If if you are doing road games (which I highly recommend) connect with the Bills Backers and you’ll have a blast. There are a bunch of places I still want to go.
  14. Again, a lot of it is going to come down to how you experience a place. I’m trying to view this as a total outsider. If I went somewhere, and knew no one, where would offer the least? Detroit, Jacksonville, Buffalo, Green Bay, Cincinnati and Oakland would be my list. Now as a native of Buffalo I can show anyone a great time there. I’d imagine that is true of any city. I can show you a great time in New Orleans too and we’d never step foot on Bourbon Street. If we want to do this honestly though you have to try to remove your knowledge of a place from the equation. It totally alters your reality.

  16. I’ve never like Indianapolis but I’ve only been there a few times. Any city that you don’t know that well will come across as underwhelming. I was there for work a few times and did the St. Elmo’s thing. We hit a Pacers game, a trendy sushi place where the athletes were (we were actually their 1st ever customers) and some bars. It was okay but if I went with a local I’m sure it would have been better.
  17. Then my list stands. Buffalo for a football game is a great experience but it is at, or near, the bottom of the league the rest of the year.
  18. Are we talking football trip?!? If so Buffalo is nowhere near that list. That is one of the best trips. I thought we were talking as a city all year.
  19. Buffalo is up there although is much better than it was. Detroit, GB, Cincinatti, Oakland and Jacksonville are all in the mix.
  20. I haven’t heard $10B but have heard well north of $5B. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it were that high. Pegula carries very little debt which isn’t the case with all of these guys. His money grows fast.
  21. Not me....I also don’t believe that a team can institute fines and suspensions that aren’t clearly defined in the collective bargaining agreement. This is a pretty broad interpretation on the Dolphins part. That’s where my beef is. Personally, I don’t care what happens during the anthem. If they want to stand, fine. If they want to kneel, fine. If they want to stay in the locker room, fine. If they decide to stop playing it before games, fine. It doesn’t enhance the overall experience (expect Whitney in XXV). It is a polarizing topic. It’s like taking prayer out of public schools. People are outraged for a little while and then it goes away.
  22. I actually believe the opposite. While the owners can outlast the players the league will lose billions if they lose the players. The NFL has no interest in being the XFL. They need each other. The second a league gets so arrogant that they lose sight of that is when the decline starts. That’s why it is different than other industries. Your assets are your liabilities (and they are human).
