A "Wildcat Strike" By The NFLPA Coming?
Kirby Jackson replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Their words not mine. Again though, if a fortune 250 company is going to carve out an hour for their leadership team on the subject it certainly isn’t “non-existent” as some have suggested. -

I actually agree 100% here. It certainly isn’t solving anything but it isn’t hurting anything either. If it has even a minimal impact it is worthwhile although it isn’t a need mover. -

I was just agreeing with Paup lol. It’s kind of funny I’m sitting on a seminar now (obviously I’m a bit distracted) with our sales leadership around the US. I work for a Fortune 250 with 66,000 employees. The topic RIGHT NOW is diversity and inclusion. The discussion revolves around moving from ally to advocate to accomplice. The concept is moving from a supporter to dismantling the structures that oppress. -

100% agree!! Social Justice is a made up fallacy and everyone has the exact same opportunity in the US. -

So, football’s media deal will double. It is trending up but the expectation is that it will die shortly thereafter? That makes no sense. Now, maybe the CTE stuff gets worse (I tend to agree there) and participation drops. Maybe the product gets worse and people lose interest? If that happens the networks scale back (although it’s a long way to go from $15B annually to zero). That’s why I say it’s AT LEAST a generation away. -

No, it is tied to the media deals and where they are heading. The NFL currently receives $5B a year from media partners. Football is the crown jewel of networks. That isn’t changing anytime soon. We are multiple TV contracts away from that changing. That is a generation or more. I’m not trying to be rude but you really aren’t grasping a very simple concept. The money involved in sports now is SO different from the 1930’s. That is what drives stability. Until there is a MASSIVE migration from football and the networks pull out it is bulletproof. You really don’t understand this and the next deal is going to grow making football MORE bulletproof moving forward. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cnbc.com/amp/2020/02/22/nfl-tv-rights-up-for-renewal-in-2022-and-big-media-will-pay-more.html https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cnbc.com/amp/2020/02/22/nfl-tv-rights-up-for-renewal-in-2022-and-big-media-will-pay-more.html Apple is bulletproof too. Their market cap is at $2,000,000,000,000. It took them 42 years to get to half of that. -

1930’s sports revenue is irrelevant compared to today. That wasn’t the sarcasm. The sarcasm was “I didn’t realize horse racing and boxing had a $5B media rights deal in the 1930’s.” I actually did realize that. The future of sports CERTAINLY can evolve but we are probably AT LEAST a generation away from football becoming even a little vulnerable. We are multiple tv rights deals away from that happening. I’m 39 years-old and football will almost certainly be the dominant sport for my entire lifetime. I’m really not sure the point that you are trying to make but the league is absolutely bulletproof for years to come. -

That was sarcasm. Sports revenue in the 1930’s is absolutely irrelevant!! This is mind-blowing that you cant see the difference. The money is what drives everything. Football has a $5B annual media deal. That isn’t in any sort of jeopardy. Comparing horse racing in the 1930’s to the NFL in 2020 is like comparing Walt Disney World to tarter sauce. I’m talking about the NFL. -

Certainly, but it isn’t as large and live sports are the last thing these networks have to keep people from cutting the cord. I’m sure that it will evolve but we are nowhere near networks walking away from live sports or even reducing rate. There are a line of others trying to buy in. -

Not really, the players need the networks. The networks fall all over themselves for football. The fans are such a small piece of that. It will take a MASSIVE migration away from football for the networks to change their tune. That’s not happening. The NFL is bulletproof and the players and league know that. If they do this it will have minimal impact on the bottom line. -
Saints possibly open to trading Kamara
Kirby Jackson replied to Greg S's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought that this was a possibility early in the offseason but it sounds like it’s not now. He’s supposed to be back at practice today and a contract should be following shortly thereafter. I’m thinking AAV of somewhere between $14M - $16M. -
Is anyone else less invested in this season than normal?
Kirby Jackson replied to Cal's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I said it in another thread but it is strange. I’m probably less invested than any season that I can remember. At the same time, I believe that the Bills are a Super Bowl contender. This team is deep and really, really good. I think that there’s just less consumable information and no chance to see the team before. I’m sure it will pick up moving forward but I don’t even know the starting OL 12 days before the season. It’s just different and I don’t like it. -
The NFL Follows Suit With "Social Justice" Message
Kirby Jackson replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The words are simple, “end racism.” That should not be dividing ANYBODY. Racism exists. It does. No matter how warped zone’s minds have become people still need to realize that it is an actual thing. The NFL is saying, “let’s stop racism.” ZERO people should have an issue with that simple ask. -

Lol, if you have a problem with the words “end racism” you are an a-hole. Is that complicated? Do you think good people believe that we SHOULDN’T end racism?!? This is like the damn twilight zone!! No one is saying support black lives matter or protests or whatever. It’s a pretty simple message “don’t be a racist d-bag.” If you want to own that though, go for it. -

if you have an issue with the NFL displaying the words “end racism” you are an a-hole. I don’t know if that’s where you stand but anyone that has a problem with that falls in the a-hole category. There are ZERO exceptions to that rule. -

No, he jumped on some marxist bs without reading the article. The NFL said that they are going to display “end racism” and that has forced many to disagree. If you disagree with that you are an a-hole. That’s not complicated or controversial. If you disagree with that you are an a-hole, period. -

They didn’t mention anyone in particular. The words “end racism” that they plan to incorporate is what triggered you. Think about that, “end racism” triggered you!! ??♂️ -

Antonio Brown is a total whack job but there was a period of time where I thought he was the best player in football. He was completely unstoppable despite a ridiculous amount of attention. There was a 6 year span where he AVERAGED 114 catches, 1,524 yards and 11 TDs!!! He missed some games and put up those numbers!! That’s the greatest stretch a WR has ever had.
