They said only 1 safety is left on the list... it's obviously Ed Reed.
I didn't hear that but you are definitely right.

CJ Spiller IS 1 of the 100 best players in the NFL. if you askes a GM would he rather have Dennis Pitta or CJ Spiller what do you think the answer would be?? Pitta is on the list.
Do you think that Byrd makes it? There are 9 players I believe from the AFC East that made the list. I posted my thoughts about a month back in another thread.
So far: Wake, Mario, Mankins, Hernandez have been on the list (don't know where they classified Revis).
I forgot Wilfork when I did my list. I will say that the last 5 are Wilfork, Gronk, Brady, Spiller and Byrd or Cromartie.

Golly, I thought I got excited about lists. You take it to a whole new level.
sorry...I can't help myself
It's June. I try to post any national stories that have anything to do with the Bills. I can only spend so much time talking about who will start at QB week 1. We are so far away from that

It is certainly tough to judge the new guys but there are a few current head coaches (ie Munchak, Rivera and Garrett off the top of my head) that haven't proven to be too good. I would rather have the unknown in any these rookie coaches than 1 of those guys.

I came across this list on twitter: http://on.nfl.com/17lXCZZ Marrone is at 28. Thoughts?

Me too but just to be a stick in the mud I'm going with the Jeff Tuel fanclub (and he does have skills so who knows)
Still sour grapes that they couldn't pull off that deal for Skelton???
From what I have seen I like the Kolb signing. He seems like veteran that can play in a pinch or until Manuel is ready. It's pretty obvious that he doesn't have the most upside of the group but he may be the safest. I still think that Manuel starts week 1 but if they don't think that he is ready it will be a 4-6 weeks of Kolb.

OK, name the safeties for the Jets the past few years.
I wasn't saying he could, and I don't think mrags was either. Just that Byrd would holdout into the season and force the Bills to give him what he wants, which I disagree with.
Smith, Bell, Leonard, Landry are the guys that come to mind. I am not sure what your point is? Byrd IMO is a far superior talent to any of those guys. They had a lot of different guys try to rush the passer too but I would assume that they don't think that Calvin Pace and Mario Williams are interchangeable. You pay top end talents and you let "good" players (ie Levitre, Mike Wallace, Ellerbe etc...) get overpaid by someone else.
-
Byrd is absolutely worthy of being paid like the highest paid safety in the league. There is not a snowballs chance in hell that we sign him to anywhere near that big of a contract.
I just think that the Bills realize his importance and when push comes to shove will pay him.
-
I think Byrd will get signed long term and this board will go nuts because he will be a little overpaid. It will be like when Flacco became the highest paid QB. He is good but not the best. Byrd is closer to being the best safety than Flacco to the best QB. It is all about timing and Byrd will be the highest paid safety in the NFL when the season starts.

You're under the assumption that the staff believes there are holes that can be filled with available veterans that would be worthwhile. It's not like they look at a guy and say, we'll take a shot. It's not a choice between rolling the dice and a sure thing. It's about rolling two dies and one them having more possibilities.
I know that Brandon Moore gets thrown out a lot but he would seem to for this. I am not saying that he is still a pro bowl player but I would think that the staff would be more confident in him at this point than some of the experiments goin on at LG.

Nice Story No Saint!! I am always happy to see when guys get it. I do not take joy in anyone struggling financially. I hope that the young players learn from him and his mistakes.

I am really not even a little concerned as to Dallas' draft board. Teams draft boards vary quite a bit. We are so used to hearing Kiper, McShay and Mayock that we are surprised when anyone other than who they think is picked. I remember the shock a few years ago when Tyson Alualua (sp) went in the top 10 and Jax got ripped. He has been a decent player much better than Sed Ellis, Glenn Dorsey, Tyson Jackson, etc...that went earlier in recent drafts. It is an inexact science and in 3 years we will know what kind of draft the Bills just had.
-
USC QB David Sills could be the pick in 2018. He committed to SC in 7th grade. So if you want a 2018 prediction he is mine.

17th pick. Guard (or safety)
Getting Clowney at 3 would be cool, but only if we trade up to get him. We can package our second round with the number 17 pick (or lower) and trade up.
I highly doubt that. Next year you are talking RG3 type ransom to get back to the top of the draft. Clowney will most likely cost you 3 firsts or at least 2 1sts, a 2 and something else. Next year's draft has a lot more high end talent than this one did. With that being said I would actually consider it. I think that Clowney is a franchise changer and one of the best prospects that I have ever seen.

I'm going to say 9 and Roby (cb)

Not punting from the opponents 35 yard line should get us a few more wins. I think 9 and 7.
Not to change the subject but is there anything more frustrating for a fan (or more of a death sentence for a coach) than punting from the 30-35 yard line? I never see winning teams do that.
-
Marv had a little Phil Jackson to me (minus the titles). He took an incredibly talented group and won with it. There is something to be said for that. What kind of coach would he have been with the talent of the teams recently -who knows. 17 sounds about right to me.

Google "PFF secret superstar Alex Carrington"
Or don't and continue to sound off...either way is cool by me
That article was linked earlier and has silenced the people that think that Carrington belongs in a poll with Zebrie Sanders. A guy that didn't jump offsides on a play in college when everyone else did.
-
So we mostly agree that Carrington doesn't belong. https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2013/05/16/secret-superstar-alex-carrington/
The bounce back suggestions on here have been strong. Freddie, Dareus, Anderson, Kolb, Tavaris Jackson and Aaron Williams all seem like good options for guys that didn't have the season that they or the Bills wanted last year.
-
So, if we go 6-9-1, who wins? The over or the under?
Under

6.5 is really the right number. This is the kin of number that you stay away from. This team should be right around this number I think. I believe that the defense will be really improved as I think Wanny was the worst ever. I like the new weapons on offense but it will take some time to come together. The schedule is a little tougher and they will need to learn to win.
-
I'm liking Carrington, but lets be fair, he hasn't done near enough... Moats knocked out Brett Favre and ended his consecutive start streak... Easley returned one of his only touches for a TD on a KO last year... there's video of Zebrie Sanders unbelievably disciplined and motionless in his stance in a college game when everyone else around executes a botched play... alll these guys have had moments
I am not confident that any of these guys but Carrington makes the team. I am sure that some will but he is the only definite. I am not saying that he is a hall of famer all that I am saying is that he is a tier above these guys. I consider him a really good rotational player. I don't view him as a reborn candidate. I would have probably replaced him on the poll with Hairston or Pears.
-
Alex Carrington was arguably one of the best players on that entire Defense last year (though admittedly in a reserve roll), and I'd say he would have to have been #2 behind McLovin for The Bills Special Teams MVP last year...So I'm not sure why he would be on a list like this...He's already pretty darn good...
This!! Why is Carrington on a lot full of guys that haven't done anything? He blocked like 4 fgs and was constantly disrupting plays even with that vanilla Wanny scheme. The rest of those guys have done nothing and I think are in jeopardy of being cut.

According to Bovada Las Vegas the over/under win total for the Buffalo Bills is 6 1/2. Right about where I thought it would be and a difficult bet. Let's take off the homer glasses and have some good debate on over or under that number. I say that the beat (jets, dolphins, jags, panthers, a game that they shouldn't win, KC and Cincy)...I guess that I am taking 7-9
CJ or Gore, who do you think is going to get left out of the top 100 t

I think that CJ is almost certainly on the list. Which 5 AFC East players left will be ahead of him?? I would think that he gets a lot of respect from other players. He is certainly the guy that they gameplan for when playing the Bills.
