younger readers shocked entertainer Hank Williams
Buftex replied to Jim in Anchorage's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I guess I don't find it that funny...I hear conservatives saying stupid things, people call them into question, I hear liberals say stupid things, and people call them into question. Nobody has been able to come up with any example of anyone comparing a US President to Adolph Hitler, where they weren't admonished in some way...this whole thing is stupid. Of course, some admonishment (like Hank Jr) is more visable, because the source is more visable. There are loads of examples (your myopic minds just can't seem to recall them) of "lefties" paying the price for saying controversial things, just like Hank Jr... And name me a conservative, who has been taken to task, whe hasn't felt morally superior. Isn't what part of the whole movemnet is, those people wearing liptons' and tetleys' hanging from their crowns of oppression? What I really find funny, still after all these years, is people whining about the liberal media, taking sides...the conservatives have their FOX News...it is allegedly where more people their news in this country, than anywhere else. So, by crying about the liberal media, conservatives (and the clowns at FOX themselves) are acknowledging that they are not a legitimate source for news. I realize, few here (though I am sure not all) consider FOX anything legit... -

The conservative opression continues..."why can't we be !@#$s if they are !@#$s? It's just not fair...I want to live in a country where we can all be !@#$s" -
Checked again this morning...still not listed...keeping my fingers crossed.

Name one "wussie liberal" who wasn't admonished, in some form or another, for using a Hitler comparison for a US President? -

Obviously, I want the Bills to beat the Eagles, but I think this game will also reveal a lot about how legit the Bills defensive coaching is. Our defense should be better than it has shown...IMO. I would like to see something new from them, some scheme, or wrinkle, designed specifically to contain Vick...he could kill us...I give Gailey almost as much credit for the Bills offensive turnaround as I do the players...I would like to see something comparable from the defensive coaching staff. -
Just double checked, NHL.Com says the Sabres/Anaheim game is being carried on TSN2, MSG-B, and FS-W. No mention of NHLN. Believe it or not, I have some comp time at work I have to burn, or lose, and took Friday off, just to watch the Sabres game...weekday hockey, how cool is that?
-
Damn it!!! I could have sworn the schedule I saw had it being carried by TSN...I know there are still 80 games after the Euro trip...but that would delay the Sabres (for me) a whole other week...that sucks!

When I saw the first replay that CBS showed, I thought it might have been a drop...but when they showed it from other angles, I am convinced, like me, whichever ref made the call, mistook Nate Clements pink gloved hand for part of the ball...Clements was reaching around Johnson, trying to strip the ball (or at least make him drop it) and it looks like NC's hand kind of blended in with the end of the ball for a split second...I still don't see how they got this call wrong, after reviewing it. And, we all hate excuses, but I think those who are going overboard to say that this play didn't cause the Bills to lose, are forgetting all the little things that are the differences between winning and losing close games like this...I didn't like Gailey's play calling on the Bills last possession (one of the few times I can say that) but I can't help but think Gailey would have drained that clock down, with a first down. True, any time on the clock for the Bengals offense might have been too much, for the Bills defense, but the Bills chances of coming away with an ugly win would have gone up significantly, IMO, had the refs made the right call. Just as some of the calls that went our way, for a change, last week against the Pats helped the Bills win. The difference between winning and losing is pretty slim in most games. A first down, at that point in a game, with the score the what it was, is huge. -
I know there are some Sabres fans here (and a bunch of people who will chime in that hockey sucks...Rico!!), so heads up...free Center Ice preview Oct 6 - Oct 23rd. I am a little concerned though...got the "early bird" price ($171...what a steal!), but scrolling through to Thursday, Friday and Saturday, I don't see any of the Sabres games in Europe listed...should I be concerned? I realize there are normally 1-2 games a year that you don't get on Center Ice, but how much would that suck if you didn't get the season opener?

I got me a beautiful "Texican" down here in Austin...she's the best...most days! BTW- If anyone watches (watched) Friday Night Lights, you will recognize that actress as Epic, from the last season... -
Though I can't seem to confirm this, when I was in Seattle this past spring, I heard that Amanda Knox is a relative (granddaughter maybe?) of my all-time favorite Bills coach, Chuck Knox...fwiw...

Good call...never thought it would be used against the kid...or was it? Another intense episode... Yeah, from the look of it, it almost seemed like Gus was ruminating in his head, like "how did this punk kid get me to come to him, rather than coming to me? And why?" Gus is awesome, in part, because the way the actor plays him, he is impossible to read...do you think Gus (or one his guys) slipped the ricin to the kid? I wasn't sure what to make of it... -

I guess I am in the minority here...I don't see why it bothers people so much...good cause...jboyst, what makes you think the money raised by the Komnen grant goes to the wrong places? In my previous job, I processed tons of applications for Komen grants...I think a lot of you have no idea what you are talking about...I will leave it that...why does everyone have an issue with anything anyone does that it is not important to them? For football reasons, I think that the refs in todays Bills/Bengals game mistook Nate Clements pink glove for part of the football that Steve Johnson caught, on that controversial play in the fourth..from the first replay that CBS showed, it looked like Johnson let it slip out, but, if you really looked (which the refs didn't, obviously) it was actually Clements glove, as he was trying to swipe it from Johnson...

Gailey timeout at the end of the first half
Buftex replied to ofiba's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This scenario (running a play in the final seconds of the half, on fourth down) came back to haunt two teams last year, in consecutive weeks...one was the Cowboys (a SNF game if I recall, against the Redskins), and another the next week...can't remember the team...the Cowboys decided to "go for it" on 4th down with a few ticks on the clock at the end of the half, Kitna (IIRC) threw a pick that got returned for a TD. Almost the exact same scenario played out the next week, I just can't remember who the teams were...there was much discussion I think it was just Chan not wanting to concede anything...at that point, the Bills had really snatched momentum of the game...I can't help but feel that the Bills have some gadget play they are waiting to play, somewhere along the way, on a return. They have a lot of money/roster space invested in guys whose forte is special teams...just a thought. I am not trying to be a Gailey apologist, but, I think the guy knows what he is doing on game day... -
