  1. "....A medical examination showed that he was a man." It's good to know that the top-notch medical staff in Zimbabwe are right on top of their game. I wonder what gave it away.
  2. After he left the Buffalo News, he went to work for foxsports.com, then espn.com. I don't see him listed as a hockey contributor on espn.com, so I assume he is no longer with them. He used to be on wnsa weekly as part of the "sharpshooters", but have not heard him on wgr since the demise of wnsa. I always enjoyed his work and was hoping to catch his insights on the new cba.
  3. I'm sure losing Jennings who plays the key OL position, protecting the QB's blindside, was the biggest reason for the gloom and doom from the prognosticators. If Gandy doesn't work out, moving Teague to LT means you now have new starters at 2 of the 5 OL positions. Here's hoping Gandy is the answer.
  4. This is a guy I would like to see the Sabres draft in an area where they are sorely lacking...blueline toughness. He will probably go in the top 5 picks... Jack Johnson TEAM: US National Program POSITION: Defence HEIGHT: 6'0 WEIGHT: 197 lbs. BORN: 01/13/87 - Faribault, Minn. ISS RANKING: 4th among skaters NOTES AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Played with the U.S. National Team Development Program's Under-17 and Under-18 teams, selected to summer evaluation roster for 2006 World Juniors...first made his mark playing with Shattuck St. Mary's in Minnesota...committed to play next season with the University of Michigan. (Photo: USA Hockey) BOB MCKENZIE'S TAKE: A pal of Crosby's from their prep school days at Shattuck, the two used to talk about the possibility of going one-two in the draft and it could happen. Johnson is a tough, aggressive, hard hitting defenceman who also has offensive upside and a desire to be the guy with the puck. Scouts say he is sometimes too aggressive, but better that than not aggressive enough. He's a fiery competitor alright, just ask the opposing baseball player who was heckling Crosby during a prep school game -- Johnson charged the mound to go after the heckler.
  5. Why do people have to act like they were raised with no manners? Specifically... 1. not saying thank you when a door is held open for them 2. trying to get on an elevator before letting the people get off for that same floor miserable people suck!
  6. Regarding Quinn, for a guy who is the "managing partner" of the Sabres, he always seems to be chiming in to the media regarding hockey matters that are probably best left to Darcy Regier and Lindy Ruff. Nothing more than speculation on my part, but I believe Quinn is quite the meddler on the hockey operations side of the house. This from a guy whose primary background is construction project management(including HSBC Arena).
  7. I liked the clip they played last, where Ray was going at it with Claude Lemieux and RJ's description was something along the lines of "Ray is throwing Lemieux around like a rag doll!""
  8. 0 for the 70's against the Dolphins sucked. From somebody who lived through it, I have about as much desire to watch any of those games as I do to watch SB 25.
  9. If the Sabres could make a splash in F/A, I would like to see them bring in 1 or 2 physical defensemen. This is the one area where the Sabres are sorely lacking(especially if Zhitnik doesn't come back). Zhitnik McKee Campbell Patrick Jillson Tallinder Kalinin Fitzpatrick Brown
  10. I don't visit these daily, but I thought some of you out-of-towners, might enjoy them... http://www.buffalo.com http://www.buffalowaterfront.com http://www.buffalohistoryworks.com http://www.buffalocvb.org/home.asp
  11. Before condemning the web designer of sabres.com, consider the fact that there is some marketing/public relations genius who is probably calling the shots behind the look and feel of the website.

  13. While Jeremy is on vacation, Brad is filling in with Howard. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, put Howard back on a shift by himself.
  14. Grabbed the pickle jar out of the fridge last night and started chuckling about the Retatta. I never would have guessed that a pickle jar would bring me laughter for the next 20 years or so.
  15. This makes me want to make a sidetrip to Steelers training camp. Watch a little football and go on a brewery tour. 1. Steelers (St. Vincent's College, Latrobe, Pa.): Never mind the Rolling Rock Brewery is four miles from campus, and offers tours on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. (They have a fine brewery restaurant, by the way.)
  16. Here are a couple of examples of why you shouldn't use the word guarantee in your posts(names have been withheld to protect the innocent). Both posts were made after the 2004 season ended. - Only rumours...it was reported on FOX this week, that Bledsoe had not been asked to take a puycut as of yet...it could still happen, but I can almost guarantee it, he WILL take the paycut, and he WILL be on the Bills roster in 2005! - Guarantee you that Drew Bledsoe will be the starter. Guarantee that Tom Donahoe changes the offensive line.
  17. Good site for CBA info. The person who posts under the name of Eklund, seems to have very good sources. http://hockeyrumors.blogspot.com/
  18. If the CBA is anything like what is being rumored, hopefully the free spenders(PHI, COL, DET, DAL, NYR & TOR) of past years will be brought back to the pack. Does that mean I agree that they should have an equal shot at Crosby? No, but I don't believe the draft will be "heavily" weighted toward the league lesser lites of the last couple of years.
  19. Where a player was drafted is irrelevant in regard to determining his worth in a trade.
  20. TD is forcing other posters to come forward with their homework questions on TSW.
  21. One Sabre they forgot about...James Patrick who turned 42 last month.
  22. I wonder if they are going to use a bullhorn or an alarm clock in order to get him to throw the ball away after a few seconds. Personally, if I was Parcells, I'd give him a size 11 kick in the ass everytime he holds the ball too long. The other methods have proven to be unsuccessful. I know, I know....beating a dead horse! He could be the next John Elway or Jim Plunkett for the Cowboys, blah, blah, blah
  23. Plenty of good articles regarding the pending cba, upcoming draft and a whole lot more... http://tsn.ca/nhl/
