  1. Lots of good points here. Love seeing the passion and opinions. The reason I'm not a fan of the bunch is simple. Spacing. I believe this to be one of the most important parts of a successful offense. With guys like SJ13 and CJ, the need room to work. Bunching them up, and "allowing them room to release" isn't going to be a game changing scheme. I argue that it instead does clogs the field. These players are already professionals at making one man miss. I love watching Stevie come off the ball. Now why would we bundle these guys together and let a zone pick them apart as they release? Many reasons for both opinions. There is no one answer. As many people have stated, it comes down to execution and success. Personally, I think our players belong in space. Open field, one on one. If we think our players are better than theres, line them up and beat them. We do not need the rubs, trickery or gimmicks that a bunch brings. Could it be a package for a few plays a game? Absolutely. However, I think making this a staple in this offense with these many elusive players would be a disservice to their skill set.
  2. Ralph is cheap! Too soon?
  3. Man, lotta bunch lovers here on TBD.
  4. Hmmmm very interesting. He was most likely pushing towards free agency anyways
  5. I think you've described it to a 'T'. However, the amount of this formation I've seen was surprising. Unless they were specifically working that formation that day, it seems more of a steady formation than any gimmick
  6. Reshard Jones, Phins Saftey about to bank 8 million annually Can you imagine the look on Byrd's face... http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/62052/safety-reshad-jones-must-prove-he-is-elite
  7. Agreed. New regime, new start, new cover!
  8. I noticed at SJFC on Sunday that the Bills offense were implementing multiple bunch formations. Some with 3 wide and other with an H back or TE. I really have some mixed feelings about this formation. I am a very traditional spread offense fan and cluttered formations (i.e Chan and co.) really worry me. I've never seen the benefit of the lack of spacing or limited use of the field. 2 questions: Do you like this formation with our current players skill sets? Which players do you believe would benefit from the bunch? I understand Marrone and Hackett want to spread the love this season. I think this maybe a ploy to distribute the ball, rub defenders and allow some of our quick twitch guys off the ball without someone in their grill. My bunch, if I had to, would include Stevie, Woods and CJ. All players are threats from the slot and can make defenders miss. Any insight into this formation?
  9. Maybe a collage of modern players with a hint of tradition. I'm thinking Gilmore, CJ and Stevie with Bruce and Thurman in the background.Throw a banner in front of it and call it a wrap
  10. I get more of a Urlacher feel. The way he moves and throws his body around. Plus his coverage skills. Maybe he should return punts too...
  11. It's a good day to be a Bills fan
  12. Seems like we might have our defensive signal caller in Alonso. Thanks Astro
  13. Thanks for all the updates. I was listening to Murph and it seemed like EJ slowly progressed through the day. Hope this trend continues. We need that O-line solidified and the protections sured up to get the rook comfortable.
  14. Can't handle the pressure: Is the o-line being outplayed or is EJ getting them in the wrong protections? Any insight?
  15. I like having a veteran guy in the group. He has shown flashes of his potential at times but has been underutilized and bounced around. He looked sharp to me yesterday at SJFC and seems to have bulked up a little. Now that he has restructured his contracted, I would be shocked if he doesn't make the roster.
  16. It is a very rough estimation. From what I've seen and heard, this defense is far from traditional. The only reason I believe they list it as a 4-3 is because of how they stack their linebackers in regards to the techniques of the D lineman. I question how often Mario will have is hand in the dirt. I think the traditional 4 down look will really be considered a 3 man front from the offenses perspective.
  17. Going to flip my Bills boxers inside out if were losing at the half...should make for an interesting time!
  18. I had the chance to make it out to SJFC today. Couple thoughts which you didn't include: -Kiko Alonso was flying around the field. I love the way he runs and has a real nose for the football -I agree with your assessment on our kickers, however, it must be noted that it was tremendously windy. Still, no excuses. -Gilmore seemed to shine. Aside from one catch by Easley, he had a very solid day
  19. Astro, based on the team sessions as of now, any take on play calling from an offensive standpoint?
  20. I stay a couple hours post game as well. I usually tune in the radio. Good question though
