Conveniently forgot about Steve Smith who might make the HOF some day. It could even be argued that statistically Smith had better numbers before Newton showed up, with the likes of Casey Clausen, Jake Delhomme, and Vinney Testaverde QBing and similar numbers after he left with a horrible Flacco throwing to him. Outside of one good year, where other QBs still had better stats Newton has been meh IMO.

Not really, of his 8 full seasons as a passer 1 year over 3900 yards passing 1 year over 25 TD passes 5 years under 60% comp 7 years of 12 int or more 3 winning seasons out of 8 6 out of 8 year QB rating below 89 1 year averaging more than 243 pass yards per game Those are extremely pedestrian numbers and don't in any way suggest he is an elite passer, he's been good enough but at some point tough decisions will have to be made about him, he doesn't get to write his own ending in Carolina or probably anywhere. Yes he got to a SB and was MVP but that year other QBs had better passing stats that year.

So what, a lot of other QBs had better years statistically that year but their teams didn't go 15-1 and make it to the SB like Newtons did. That said Newton did have a pretty good year that year but all his other year are mediocre at best.

Never thought Newton was all that good to begin with. He hasn't and might never recover from his Super Bowl embarrassment.

So Gase left Miami in shambles, he has NY on the brink of mutiny, can NE sign him so he can destroy all 3 of the Bill's division rivals.

I watched that game and Detroit sat back and played prevent once they got up by 3 scores, it was 24-6 with 14 minutes to go in the 4th and up until that point Murray wasnt very good. Everybody knows what happens when teams go into prevent and if it wasnt for a goofy I'll advised time out called by a Lions coach just as the ball was snapped on a 3rd down which negated a Deteoit first down the game would have ended 24-16.

Not that it matters but that was a bad call on Villenueva. That wasnt holding.

IMO Tomlin is getting ever closer to thin ice. His teams havent been much more than mediocre for a while now.

The Lions just had a 4th down on their own 35/40 yard line with 6 seconds left in regulation tied with Arizona and Patricia punted the ball. That and the tank job today should have him on the hot seat already this year.
