  1. What is the current solution? That's what I'm missing. There's a difference between following a course of action and implementing a solution. Personally, I don't think anyone can elucidate the latter at this point in time. The only reason that I reacted to the mop thing is that it implies that we are going to fight this thing out until terrorism is gone (aka. "winning" the war on terror). That's no solution. It's a goal that simply cannot be achieved.
  2. So that's what your going to Washington with? Mops and metaphors? Get real. You're a joke. Still waiting for your solution...
  3. Why does this site exist? http://www.religiousmall.com/ex/link_new.html
  4. If by oozing hate, you mean realistic observations....then yes. Yes I do.
  5. Yeah. The fire hydrant that Jim Carrey shot straight up into the sky was right in front of my apartment. Place was flooded for weeks.
  6. Urban exploration can be fascinating. I recommend this book if you're interested: Invisible Frontiers
  7. Go easy. He saw it on Will & Grace.
  8. Cleaned it all? Apply the same logic to the dirt in your backyard and your getting closer. Keep cleaning...maybe you'll mop your way to China. China...maybe we're on to something here.
  9. Unfortunately when you say "people like you" it implies that there is someone with a solution. I have yet to meet such a person.
  10. Wow. Prep/Jock/Cheerleader with Loner a close second. I wore a t-shirt and jeans almost every day, didn't play any sports, and doubt many in my class of 400 even knew my name. Go figure. I'd say loner is more accurate. I think that the fact that I love sports, wanted to be popular, and had a tight clique (of a few fellow loners) probably pushed me towards my result.
  11. Been to a Tops lately? I swear some of them get their mail there.
  12. If you hated Magnolia, you should check out I Heart Huckabees. I'm certain that it was made just to make otherwise intelligent people feel like idiots. Philosophical masturbation at its finest. BTW, I didn't think Magnolia was that bad...but I see your point.
  13. Right. They removed the religious commandments and now have two that have to do with the law. 1) Thou shall not kill and 2) Though shall not steal. I sense a Carlin bit coming on.
  14. I always go with an empty stomach. Otherwise, nothing looks appetizing to me. I end up bringing home a newspaper and a candy bar.
  15. Best avatar yet...
  16. This is a long-azz thread, but can the person who unnecessarily started the drug argument produce an example where the pro-legalization crowd advocates selling pot to a 13 year old girl?
  17. Mind if I ask what led you to think that there was a chance that this might be a good movie in the first place? EDIT: Never mind. I just read further and saw that you specifically highlighted Independence Day as a good film. You have already been assimilated.
  18. As someone who doesn't have any plans of leaving Rochester unless I'm forced, I hope you're right Bill. Good Deal on Home Lures Long Island Family I just hope the politicos don't eff it all up (any further).
  19. Much appreciated.
  20. Perhaps, but the imagery you provided with the mashed apples gives you more style points.
  21. Not to speak for Johnny, but I'm not sure he's as worried about rioting and and public nuisances as he is about the collective financial burden that all of these people will create. Following your example, "sinking" in this case means welfare and/or homelessness. We're not talking about thirtysomethings that can go back to school or whatever and pull themselves up by their collective bootstraps....these are senior citizens, who minimally want to be able to wind down their lives with some dignity and basic comfort. They don't just go away to die in a cave somewhere...they become everyone else's responsibility. I'm not saying its right...its just reality.
  22. "Yes, ma'am, it's very impressive, but we need to ask you a few questions."
  23. Very true. I tried an online retirement plan "wizard" that basically told me that if I want to be on target for my goals when I am 65 (I'm 30 now) that I need to work a part time job till I'm 70 (@ 15000k a year) and contribute 12% of my annual income to the 401k. I have a hard enough time contributing 4% as it is (with no company match). Time to look into a Roth IRA.
  24. But you will get what you put into it. Not every citizen wants (or is capable of) the responsibility of managing their own retirement account. How can the government make individual investment foolproof enough so that it works for everyone regardless of their priorities? Are there funds available that guarantee returns with little or no maintenance? Maybe so...I dunno...I struggle with my 401k. If they can't guarantee a return or equalibrium (at the very least), then we may be well on the road to the biggest welfare crisis in US history.
