  1. 23. Don't take her to see "When a Man Loves a Woman" thinking it's a romantic date movie, when her mother was an alcoholic who's life mirrored many aspects of Meg Ryan's character. Many a kleenex were dispensed that evening.
  2. Why is it that the (major) sport with the fewest number of personnel always has the biggest trades? Weird.
  3. Funeral for a Friend?
  4. Sounds like something bounced up into his under-carriage. EDIT: Holy crap! I just scrolled down the cast list and Rip Taylor is listed. Rip Freakin' Taylor! I guess the director didn't feel that the pile was steaming enough.
  5. Ricky is worthless to the Dolphins if he tests positive. They need to get him through camp and pre-season to build enough interest in him to dump him off to .......well, the Raiders I suppose.
  6. When Bruce Smith got that sack....
  7. All eyes are on SanFran. Once Alex Smith is signed they will drop like dominos. Unless they're represented by Rosenhaus, of course.
  8. It's actually 10,000 cuts...22,500 to 25,000 by the middle of 2007.
  9. I realize that they don't make a whole lot, but here's my case for bullpen catchers anyway.... So close, yet so far away..... Highlights from the article: "Aron Amundson comes to a major league ballpark every day, dresses and showers in a major league clubhouse, wears a major league uniform, and catches major league pitchers for living. Yet, he has the same chance of appearing in a major league game as that middle-aged guy in the upper deck with a bad back and beer gut. Such is the life of a bullpen catcher -- so close, yet so far away." "I went in for an interview the next day and they gave me the job." Remarkably, Amundson had never caught before. During a well traveled college career, that included stops Eastern Oklahoma State, Oklahoma University, and the University of Minnesota, Amundson had split time at first and third base as well as pitcher and designated hitter." While he is not officially a member of the team, Amundson does enjoy some major league perks; he travels on the team charter, stays in five star hotels, and receives the same travel per diem as the players. "(The meal money) helps out a lot at home," he commented. "We hang out all the time," the North Dakota native said. "Every once and awhile, we'll being going back the hotel and someone will say 'hey, let's go get something to eat' that kind of stuff. They are great guys." "During the game, I am down there (in the bullpen) for three hours with those guys, and baseball gets kind of slow at times. We play little games down there and get to chatting about a little bit of everything." "My number is 75 a bigger number some fans don't really realize that I am not a player," Amundson explained. "They think I am just one of the guys. They seem to rip me about my number, one guy told me I looked like an offensive lineman I just said 'hey, what's your number buddy?' and he shut up." His home park is particularly perilous, "In the Metrodome, the fans are right on top of you, the background is really bad," he explained. "The pitcher is throwing a white ball right out of white T-shirts. That is probably the most stressful part of my job." "Before batting practice, most of the time I catch the starting pitchers, who are throwing on the side. That can be anywhere from 15 minutes to a half hour of throwing. I do 75% of my work before batting practice even starts." Despite the intial frustration, Amundson never lost sight of how fortunate he is. "I love my job," he said with a smile. "I get to come to a ballpark everyday, and I get paid to play catch for a living."
  10. Good point... Another negative that I just remembered is that he coughs up the ball all the time. Most leagues deduct points for turnovers.
  11. Here's a bit of what Culpepper faces this year: ... during Weeks 6 through 10 when Moss missed three games and saw limited action in two others because of a hamstring injury, the Vikings went 2-3 and barely beat the Lions. Culpepper averaged nearly 9.5 yards per pass with Moss and barely seven yards without him. It’s doubtful rookie Troy Williamson or Nate Burleson can match Moss’s career average of nearly 16 yards per catch and 13 touchdowns a season now that the Vikes won’t have Moss to bear the brunt of opposing defenses. The Vikings also lost respected offensive coordinator, Scott Linehan. And Onterrio Smith, perhaps the club`s best pur runner, is suspended for the year follwing his now infamous `whizinator` incident. From http://www.covers.com/articles/articles.as...rt=49297&tid=27 I don't love any of these QBs, but Cullpepper is far from a no brainer. The best thing the Vikes have going for them is their weak division.
  12. Sure. It would be the same ol' spot on the ground...just deeper. Much deeper. Anyway...if the terrorists really value their holy sites, why does it seem that mosques are one of their top hiding spots/fighting positions?
  13. This logic eliminates most track and field events. Not sports?
  14. Damn Marineland Commercials. Try getting that jingle out of your head...I dare you.
  15. bullpen catcher
  16. Something on NBC that doesn't have Law and Order in the title only leaves about 6 programs.
  17. It's only simple if you choose to look at it with a simpleton's point of view.
  18. Why are you pulling so hard for conservative candidates if their job is to interpret rather than legislate? If the system works as you are proposing, then it shouldn't matter as long as the most qualified judges are appointed. Unless... its okay for judges to legislate if it supports your personal beliefs. I'm sure that's not it though.
  19. As part of his rulings, he should work in references to his movies... "Defendent, if you trade paint with the plaintiff one more time, you so much as touch, I'm gonna Black Flag the two of you, and tear apart your racecars for three-hundred laps."
  20. Almost as interesting as "minds who are thinking correctly."
  21. That happened in Buffalo about 5 years ago. Couldn't believe the coincidence.
  22. Had a chance to see it last night for free...and passed. Went to the mall get some shopping done and beat the heat. My fiancee brought 2 free passes that she had been given. At the time we showed up, we could choose between War of the Worlds, Madagascar, and Fantastic 4. We took our passes and went home. I'm just not that interested in Hollywood blockbusters anymore. Wouldn't mind seeing Batman Begins tho.
  23. If you like cars and shows about cars, check out a show on the Discovery Channel called Top Gear. They've been on the BBC in the UK for several years and the production quality is outstanding when compared to Motor Trend and Car & Driver TV. Plus the hosts and segments are entertaining and they give their honest (sometimes brutally honest) opinions about the cars they test. The shows that Discovery are showing now are from last season (mid to end of 2004). Hopefully the show takes off here so I won't have to spend 8 hours downloading the BitTorrents any more. 10 PM tonight & 1 AM Top Gear TV Schedule
  24. Bomber gives you more specific information. Terror comes in many forms...bombs happen to be the most popular. For all we know the instigator(s) might have caused terror by whipping out their jimmies and waving them around at old ladies.
