  1. i think it's just their all-encompassing theory that since America is so "godless" that anything bad that happens is punishment from God. basically, the miners were killed because the church isn't in charge of the country (even though it really is).

I thought it was more specifically that the US does not persecute homosexuals, so soldiers dying in wars, mining accidents and the like is our comeuppance from God.

  2. Nobody with a ( D ) or ( R ) next to their name is ever going to bring change to Washington. One would hope that the drooling masses have figured this out by now given what has transpired between "hope and change" in '08 to what we are now saddled with.

  3. I'm coaching my son's t-ball team. We have our third practice tonight. I am one of three coaches so we try to split the kids up into smaller groups to better keep their focus. So far all the kids have been good at picking up running the bases, but they are all at different levels when it comes to hitting and catching. You'll have a blast coaching the kids. We keep the drills short, and the practice is only one hour. We begin and end with running the bases as that seems to be what they enjoy most at this point.

Someone mentioned arguing with the umpires, not that it would really happen at this level, but the coaches in our league are prohibited from leaving the dugout to talk to the umpire. Also there is a 24 hour rule for parents to discuss any issues they may have with the coaches, that is they can't berate us during or after the game about their son or daughter, they have to wait until the next day to call or email as a "cooling off" period.

  4. If you have a company sponsored 401k with a match and you aren't at MINIMUM contributing to the match then you are, in 99.9% of cases, an idiot. That's essentially saying 'no thank you' to free money, not to mention all the tax benefits as well. I work for a fortune 500 company with about 27,000 employees, at a retirement planning seminar a few years ago it was revealed that less than half the employees even contribute to the company 401k. Morons.

  5. That's why my father told me at age 18 that if I ever got a motorcycle and brought it into his driveway he'd take it apart with a baseball bat (he had an old HS friend get into a bad wreck on one some many years ago.) I know motorcyclists love their bikes, but reading the stats on injuries/fatalities on them is downright scary. I have another friend who was involved in an accident with one and the driver of the bike was killed (he skidded out and hit the rear end of her car).

All that said, I, too, wish him nothing but the best as he goes forward.....

My wife used to work as a nurse at ECMC and would take care of trauma patients. All the motorcycle accident victims she saw really made an impression and she told me if I ever got on one she would be gone. That's terrible what happened to Matt Stevens, but it sounds like he has a positive outlook and supportive family. I wish him and his family the best.

Yes we've finally tied the knot! We even "Pinky Swore" before King Henry VIII!!! And as you probably can imagine, the many photos, videos, and good cheer I have to share about this wonderful day is enough to push all of our computers into overload! After more than a year of considering possibilities from grand halls to a simple back yard affair, we finally decided to have our blessed day in a magical forest, where the annual Tampa Bay Renaissance Festival is held. Here we have already spent many wonderful days with friends, and it seemed the natural and perfect setting for us. So here, below is your 'Virtual' invitation! In each page, you'll find another part of the day, complete with photos, slide shows, and flash videos

That is indeed disturbing, but I'm more curious to find out what it was that compelled you to visit pixyland outside of the fake link gag?

  7. Who is Stern to comment on peoples' looks? He is one of the ugliest human beings alive. I used to like Stern and don't mind him but his career is made off making fun of dysfunctional people and pornstars. At least this girl will be remember for being great in a movie that moved a lot of people.

I don't think a show has gone by in the past two decades where Howard hasn't mentioned how hideous he looks or what a mess he is. His show is about brutal honesty and Howard often turns that microscope upon himself.

  8. That was great. I expected Miller to get some love, but I have to admit that reception coming from Pens fans surprised me.

And then the Sabres came out and played without a pulse...again. Almost every year we hope for Darcy to infuse this team with some legitimate help on deadline day and nothing of substance happens. The usual suspects will be the buyers today. You know who they are, the teams that win cups.

  9. This was the first Sabres-Hurricanes game in Carolina that I have missed since the lockout. I was at the 2006 playoff games, and while I did witness some poor fan behavior from Sabres fans, I also saw Canes fans responding in kind. I think Canes fans are way too thin skinned when it comes to opposing fans and the tall tales of Sabres fans tearing down the RBC center in 2006 have gotten way out of control. I don't hear constant whining and complaining from Sabres fans when drunk Leaf fans invade HSBC every year.

  10. I'm mildly impressed, actually. I think BH is actually a very, very good troll. It doesn't take a lot of skill to create a thread knowing that you'll incite an immediate response from ten people mocking you. It does however, take skill to do it time after time, with them still taking you seriously. BH is the boy who cried wolf's idol.

blzrul has also mastered this skill.
