I don't really see him lasting beyond this year anyhow, as I said teams seem to have figured him out and he doesn't seem to have the abililty to adjust or show game situational awareness.

Another poster said the 2012 Merrman contract was small and incentive based. How can this front offfice give a guy a $3 or $4 million guaranteed contract when he hasn't played a full season in couple years? Everyone on this board new he wasn't going to make it through the year except the Bills front office?

I guess. Maybe they didn't want to shake things up TOO much while in the midst of their 7 game losing streak. Maybe they make the change earlier in the year and the Bills don't get smacked by Dallas and Miami. I mean the Dolphins had the courage to fire their head coach before the season ended, and they still beat the Bills 2 x. How bad is that. I would be more concerned about answering questions like that.

The losing streak started with 0 offensive starters out. Fred Jackson wasn't IR'd until the 25th of November.

The Bills offense scored 14.2 points / game during the 7 game losing streak.

Chans offense was figured out by other D-coordinators, as many have previously pointed out, before the major injuries. He was not able to make any adjustments. Or refused to do so.

Thanks for the response. I think. You've got me cornered. What are the actual pros and cons then of keeping or cutting Merriman. I am willing to be objective if others are. One caveat however, I do not believe in keeping a player on roster just because he's on the roster.

Disagree on Kelsay then. Original poster said McGee gone, I agree. Bills project guys to be starters who can't make through a season, that hurts IMO. Guys like Kelsay, McGee and Merriman are what's wrong with this team, IMO. You can't win with them.

He shouldn't have any, however with old Ralph, who really knows. He may just as well let Gailey play out his contract. What's the difference really. Nix won't fire Chan, and the current F.O. can't find players in the draft anyhow. FYI: This team is not going to the playoffs next year either/again. 1. Fitz can't throw. 2. Gailey can't call a game correctly. 3. If Edwards is kept, which he may be, that would seal the deal. 4. If a new D-coordinate is brought in, the Bills will give that guy a year for the "new system", which they don't have the players to support. Bingo. It's that easy. It's not really about winning games anyhow, now is it. It's about renewing the Toronto Series, hyping the 2012 draft, and getting just enough interest to sell a few season tickets. Why would anyone buy season tickets to a team that doesn't really want to win anyhow?
