  1. One of my theories on why EB never gets a chance is a bias against former RB’s. I think there is a view that the RB position is not a “smart” Position— ie, running backs rely on their athleticism. Contrast that with the QB position, and the view is that former QB’s really know the X’s and O’s. Same with former DB’s— they seem to be viewed as the brains behind the defense. if you think about it, what head coaches were former running backs? The only guy I can think of is Dan Reeves.
  2. great thought. It would also benefit the free agents. Maybe a guy like Addison would prefer to sign with another team once he knows the bills drafted those ends.
  3. i was thinking the same— I think a lottery would generate a ton of excitement in the lead-up to the draft. i remember the year the Orlando Magic bucked the odds and won the lottery (was the year right after they had won it and drafted Shaq). It was pretty thrilling. I think their odds were like 1%.
  4. With all the talk about intentional tanking in Miami and Cleveland (stemming from the Flores lawsuit), should the NFL change its draft format? Jason McCourtey alluded to the NFL doing a lottery similar to the NBA, where basically the non-playoff teams go into the lottery for their draft position. The worst record team is guaranteed no worse than the 5th draft pick. Would such a system work in the NFL and be better for competitive balance and anti-tanking?
  5. I feel like the Winter Olympics haven’t been well publicized. I randomly stumbled upon some women’s hockey on USA network. I didn’t even realize it had begun.
  6. welp, this is what I came to post and I see it was done. Thanks for your service.
  7. bleak. TB going back into the toilet soon enough.
  8. Another really nice offensive game by Cuse. Edwards really is developing at a great rate. He could be one of the best big men we have had in 20 years.
  9. Williams really turned the season around and became solid at guard.
  10. i also think people misunderstand a key purpose of the rule— it’s to get minority coaches in the door to help build relationships and expand networks. The problem with the NFL is systemic cronyism. People just hire the people they know. It’s why guys like Doug Marrone and Pat Shurmur bounce around the NFL. It’s why the Bills hire a bunch of Carolina guys. Its why every head coach hires his son. The rooney rule was designed to help minority coaches develop relationships and hopefully break up the usual suspects. But, I agree with you that the spirit and application of the rule need to be looked at closer.
  11. College is a different beast. he can’t recruit as well as his competitors. I think he is a good coach, but mediocre recruiter. And there’s no way he can recruit against the SEC. I think he is better suited as an NFL coach.
  12. I did not expect the response to be “elated,” for a guy desperate to leave.
  13. I think it has easily been 30 years since I watched any part of the pro bowl. Do people still watch it?
  14. Don’t disagree. But a guy like Munchak seems like he is thinking more about a bunch of other considerations— family, fit, relationships with the staff, stability, etc. I doubt he is solely hunting SB rings at this stage of his career.
  15. i thought it was the guys who invented DNA.
  16. i really set you up.
  17. My wife introduced me to Oh’s recently— wow. Very solid choice.
  18. i admit that I only learned about this Earhart-Perkins business 2 days ago.
  19. don’t disagree. My point is that it will be ultra competitive to get Munchak. He will be highly sought after.
  20. Only in our dreams! He will be in high demand.
  21. Sounds like the dolphins are going to get seriously sanctioned by the NFL.
  22. Webb has the ideal job here. He is the QB coach, but gets paid like a player.
  23. Now that is a ringing endorsement! 😄
  24. Is this what it was like on BBMB?
  25. Agreed. I think Johnson saw the writing on the wall. We can get so much better with the oline coaching. Pats’ oline success is almost exclusively product of good coaching.
