  1. 1. The man is speaking to young men and women about participation in an election. Perhaps more than other audiences, the speaker needs to choose his words carefully or risk losing his audience, or worse. He stupidly said they drank the Obama Kool Aid and thereby committed suicide with these kids. I'm not saying it was or was not true, but that it was a dumb way to make his point, and he paid the price. 2. People do care about Farrakhan. HRC lambasted Obama for not doing enough to distance himself from the Nation of Islam leader. Rendell panders to him and it's perfectly ok. You're deluding yourself, as usual... 3. Tim Russert beat Rendell senseless when the governor said Obama would make a great VP, and then said foolishly that he wasn't ready to be president, as if being VP didn't require presidential readiness. Rendell paid the price again. I was using these as examples, but of course, you choose the literal, and feel compelled to defend these explicitly. I'm not disagreeing with you about his skills as mayor of Philly or being governor of the great state of Pennsylvania. I'm merely pointing out he has a reputation as open mouth, insert foot on the national stage. But congratulations on luring another dumbass, hypocritical, socialist hack.
  2. yeah, you're probably right on the money. I was thinking to myself people don't realize how far to one side or the other they really are, or at least how they appear to others, hence your delusional comment. I just don't understand the venomous side of people on the board. Not only do they have to disagree and criticize the other side, but they're compelled to ridicule and beat them to a pulp.
  3. lol, I was thinking the same thing. He bashes the lackluster FO, then applauds the talent they put on the field.
  4. I'm liking this Tom... it seems that most of the conservative people identify with being independent or centrist, ya? And while there's clearly liberals and lefties, not many would admit to being much more than vanilla liberal or left leaning. I'm generalizing here, and maybe wrong, just an impression. So, if most are left leaning or right leaning, centrist, whathaveyou, how does the extreme part come in?
  5. I have some dumb question(s) and I apologize in advance if they've been asked and answered in one of the many Peters threads... Has there ever been a similar situation on another team, involving a player who has overachieved in a relatively short time at his (very important) position, been selected to the Pro Bowl, underpaid compared to other similar positions on the same team, had 2-3 years left on his contract, held out through the preseason and convinced his FO to negotiate a new deal before showing up? Follow on question... how many players with 2-3 years left on their current deal, that refused to show up, and got new contracts, regardless of position, pro bowl status, or comparison with other players on the same team? Both of these can follow the Steven Jackson move... hold out, then show up when a new deal is imminent, doesn't have to be signed before showing up.
  6. What was this lesson that he should have learned long ago? Not to ask politicians sensitive questions that he's heard others talk about? Seems like he didn't conjure up that question, as it's raised time and time again, and exacerbated when McCain does his gaffe-of- the-week.
  7. I hear all that and agree in principle, but how do you think the kid felt? Maybe every adult in the room got a chuckle. I'm just saying there's lots of ways to inject humor and you don't have to put down a young kid to get a laugh.
  8. I'll yield to you on Rendell's governing skills, but it seems that when he's behind the mic in a political arena, he's likely to shoot himself in the foot more often than not. Talking to young voters ("drinking the kool-aid" comment), the Louis Farrakhan statement, "Obama would make a great vp...he's not ready to be president", etc.
  9. I did a quick search for a web page that explained why airlines might want to hedge oil prices and that showed they were major traders. This is not some opinion of mine. Airlines invest heavily in oil futures and take delivery, partnering with refiners to lock in fuel prices. It's well understood by anyone that follows the oil futures market. Don't believe me, it doesn't freaking matter. Look it up.
  10. There's a huge difference with Steven Jackson. The Rams were negotiating with Parker when Jackson was holding out and not in camp. He only ended his holdout because a deal was imminent.
  11. Then say the D wasn't told to take away the sidelines in the "Prevent" during the last series.
  12. I wasn't watching it that close, but when Marshall Faulk said running backs had to "get skinny" in order to get yardage in narrow running lanes, (I think it was Wright) had a hole big enough to drive a semi through.
  13. yes, that totally makes sense. I was thinking of a 20 year life sentence costing a lot more than death row for 5 years, but sounds like it's all in the court costs.
  14. if it matters, bb.com Chris Brown blog says negative x-rays also
  15. lol, I'm guessing you know all about sharing those
  16. and some people think anyone who doesn't share theirs deserves to be personally attacked
  17. at the risk of going way off topic, what does this mean? it costs more to convict and execute a felon than it does to convict, house, feed, and care (to whatever extent the prison system provides...) for the rest of their life? Death Row undoubtedly costs more than the general population, but it's a relatively short period, compared to life behind bars.
  18. humor would be "you're too young to ask questions like that" calling him a "little jerk" was unnecessary, but opinions are like aholes, everyone's got 1
