Is McCain as shallow as George W. Bush?
In-A-Gadda-Levitre replied to PastaJoe's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I'm not a politician, or a diplomat, nor do I have a background in foreign policy. But I can read, and the American president was ridiculed worldwide for his choices and responses. Sanctions? who knows, maybe that's an answer, maybe it's a joke. Just do something besides sitting on your ass watching sports and making lame public statements. That's all I'm saying. -

Why is always about your type, you liberals, you left wingers? Why can't people just be entitled to their opinions and others agree to disagree. I don't understand why the other camp insists on bashing and trashing and slamming people who don't share your views. Once in a while, you will see where one of these unpatriotic, radical, liberal, communists collectively call out the right, but that's pretty rare. pretty f'ing sad that there's so much hate and contempt for everyone else besides towards those that see it the same way... -
Toby Keith supports Obama
In-A-Gadda-Levitre replied to PastaJoe's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
wasn't Toby Keith recently talking trash to Glen Beck about Obama not being black enough? -

Actually from the lense that the world sees you through, expecting you to be a leader of the free world, yes, it would have. That's what they were slamming him about. That he was watching Olympics instead of leading. It's mostly about perception. -

In-A-Gadda-Levitre replied to PastaJoe's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
yeah, right after he said all those presidential statements about being deeply concerned about reports of Russian intentions and Russia's actions were jeopardizing its relations with the US and EU. Wow, take that Putin. -

I had sent a message to Chris Brown a while back, asking for confirmation about JP being in Orchard Park. Here is his response, no surprises... -

of course, since when do you offer anything constructive besides bashing people that you don't agree with? -

Of course he was in communication with his administration and probably others. That's not the same as acting like and looking like a world leader by taking control of the situation. He flunked that, in spades. But go on, keep clapping for him... -

IMO, he should have immediately cut short his stay in China, flown to Europe or Washington, taken a leadership role in pulling together NATO, and/or other G7 and EU leaders about a response, and made much stronger statements about Russia publicly at the very least. -
Is McCain as shallow as George W. Bush?

There was a hell of a lot written about Georgia, not only from the media, but political pundits, analysts, former politicians and world leaders, etc. I don't think I read a single one (except Gorbachev's) that didn't blast Bush for not taking a leadership role - whether that was his stupid statements, or his choice to go to/stay at the olympics, crawford, or whatever. It was universally brutal criticism, some of the worst in recent memory. Whether he should be supporting a major trading partner or America's premier athletes, take time off, working from home (crawford), there's so much he could have done and said differently. How you all can justify his actions and response during a major world crisis is baffling. Does Georgia matter to the USA, other than the pipeline, probably not... Is Russia invading a former territory with a signature of past nightmares pretty GD scary? Hell Yeah. -
FINALLY PETERS MIGHT REPORT

LOL, Russ Brandon isn't a GM, he's the COO, and the Bills are an organization run by group of executives, not a GM or president. He's merely the public face for a consensus of decision makers, overseen by a stubborn owner. The Bills are doing what 90+% of the other NFL teams would do, and that is not negotiate with holdouts who are under contract that refuse to show up.

FINALLY PETERS MIGHT REPORT
In-A-Gadda-Levitre replied to SAM HARRIS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ok, I never did find Adam Schefter's statement about the Bills insisting that he play this year on the existing contract, only a remark that inferred that the Bills were playing hardball on an NFLN video segment. Sal Maiorana does indeed say he heard it from a Bill's official, so that's really only 1 reporter from 1 source, since Judge doesn't say how he knows this. Also, and not sure it means anything, but Sal wrote about Peters many times after that, never mentioning it again. Don't you think it's possible that Sal's source was blowing smoke up his butt? It certainly wouldn't be the 1st time a team used the media as a negotiating tool by leaking factoids. I'm just saying it's possible... -
FINALLY PETERS MIGHT REPORT
In-A-Gadda-Levitre replied to SAM HARRIS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh yeah, Brandon was whining to the media... Too bad they gave Schoebel a new contract late in August, AFTER all the OTAs, meetings, and well into training camp. But keep on twisting the facts, you do it so well. -

I like Clark Judge a lot, but the problem with his statement is that there's no context. Where did he get this information from? A source on the Bills, another reporter, interpretation from what he's read or heard? Brandon has never said that in public, AFAIK. -
ESPN story on Peters
In-A-Gadda-Levitre replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If every NFL athlete got what he and his agent (and others) thought he was worth, the business would be dramatically different than it is. What we don't know is their top line. Maybe parker knows, maybe he's guessing, we don't really know that either. I don't do any sport negotiation, but in business, you don't make a habit of telling (or even hinting to) the other side the highest you're willing to go. You're telling me it's common practice that the agent knows approximately what most or every team is willing to pay, absolute top $? I have trouble with that, but I'm admitting I don't know... yeah, what they release to the media or not talk about... keywords. Another scenario is the Bills are simply playing both hardball and it close to the vest. That nobody knows what they will do this year, or after, nor how much they are willing to pay. Evan's extension would certainly be a part of that. They don't have to tell Parker much of anything other than 'tell your player to come to camp', due to that leverage thing. That makes logical and simple common sense also. Is it perfect? No, but there's so many unknowns, nobody should be surprised. We only have to look at what they implied; that any discussion would only take place after he was reporting under the current contract -and- the team has shown that they will rip up existing deals when the player over performs and isn't being paid accordingly. -

it's really silly to think we know what the bills will do if he shows up, or how much they might be willing to pay, this year, next year, or right before his current deal expires. since all kinds of variations have appeared, who really knows what's real and what isn't? -
you just keep repeating the same schitt over and over. Why did the Bills give Schoebel a new deal? They didn't have to. He was under contract for 3 more years. They did because he exceeded expectations, he made the pro bowl, he was the best dl on the team, and other players on the line were making more than him. There was no gun to their head, but they did, because it was the right thing to do. The difference? Schoebel showed up and honored his contract. Nuff said.

McCain must have done good at the town hall
In-A-Gadda-Levitre replied to Wacka's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Andrea Mitchell said he wasn't in the Cone of Silence, and that was corroborated by the McCain staff and the NYT. She didn't say he cheated. -

Anything new on Peters??
In-A-Gadda-Levitre replied to BobbyC81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
actually, I wouldn't be surprised if they waived the fines as part of the negotiation. IMO, it's a valuable give-back from the FO when you're trying to get a deal done. Or they just raise the bonus money by that amount to save face. -
the actual article from the Buffalo News appears to have expired and their piss poor site search doesn't even find it. Here's a reasonable facsimile of the original article, which looks like it came from the Rochester D&C after the Buff News piece came out. Link here he says the team will be sold after his death and that it won't be predicated on someone keeping it in Buffalo. One can only surmise this means sold to the highest bidder. Of course this won't satisfy you...

Tough roster decisions
In-A-Gadda-Levitre replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
according to the Buffalo News, Will James is the starting nickel back and on the depth chart, he's the #2 RCB. Seems pretty high to be a casualty, but stranger things have happened.
