Well, it is nice to finally see something good on TV, which is Home Makeover. They do great work for some very deserving families. Have you watched the show at all? It is not your typical reality-type show. No contects, nobody voted off, etc. It is just people doing good work to help people and give them a step up in the world. Giving money to the kids on the show, for their college education is always touching.

I agree. Constantine just does not have the strength of voice to compete with Bo. I see him going within the next two weeks. Hopefully, Bo will be around for a while.

The only shows I watch on ABC are Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Alias. Otherwise, there is not much there.

In the beginning of their careers, it might be more of an issue since money plays a larger role in their decision. As their career goes on, they will look more towards opportunity (starting time vs. bench time, contender vs. bottom feeder, etc) in which case the money is not as big of a deal.

I agree. They are thinking of what they need to do to right their ships. They need people to step up and it is motivational techniques like these that have the greatest effect. Besides, who cares what they have to say about Buffalo?

Recalling officials would be good. This will help them stay honest. It would be your checks and balances system. This is what I see: The government proposes legislation and enacts. Enough petition signatures can bring any legislation up for a referendum. Then the people can veto the legislation. If an elected official does too much against the will of the people, the people can recall him, using the same petition/referendum procedure. In essence, the people are the checks and balances. This system keeps the people out of day-to-day activities but keeps them involved on major legislation. Minority views present a problem regardless of the system implimented. Each section of the population will be represented (by geographic area). IMO, that it the best way to get their views heard but I am open to other suggesstions.

I vote Direct Democracy.

If you have term limits, and those who comprise the panel of judges are only ones who have reached the maximum amount of time served (cannot be elected again), then you might have something. I do not want the judges to later become candidates for election. I also do not want the judges to serve too long as judge (term limits here as well).

Who do you have as the judge of merit? How do that attain that position of judge? This would probably be addressed in subsequent threads, but I wonder the best way to judge the merit rankings. Only a true colleague can judge and if they are qualified to judge, then they can also be electable. It sounds like too much corruption could go on with that.

I have met you several times. I have to side with VA on this one. Yes, you have been attacked at times. You also have to realize that you have been just as guilty. You have attacked people who did not attack you first. That is not self-defense. Until you accept this, nothing will change for you.

Democracy. You still need to make sure that the people have a say in government. You will not get that with other systems. You also need freedom of religion (notice I said of not from). Theocracy will not give that.

I agree. You never question them in front of the other employees. If you have an issue, you talk to them privately to get it resolved.

I never said I was the perfect judge. I just do not tolerate only one side of the story being told. If you think that only your posts are being deleted, you are wrong. Just because I do not live on here 24/7 to read each and every post does not mean that no negative posts towards you are being deleted. I have deleted plenty. If some were missed, then oh well. I am human. Get over it. It is a friggin message board.

I do not see Cheney resigning before the end of the term unless his health takes a serious downturn. It would be too obvious of a move and it would not stand the smell test. If this were the tactic the GOP desired, they would have done it prior to W's second term. They didn't get rid of him because they knew he could easily handle Edwards in a debate, and that is what he did. I do not see Ridge running. He would have been out of the spotlight too long. Rice is a possibility only if Hillary runs. Otherwise, no. Newt is a possibility but I do not think that he would get past the primaries. Too much baggage.

Pataki - Won't make it past the primaries Guliani - Could be the nominee, but not enough maneuvering yet to make a difference. He needs to do more before he is viable, IMO. McCain - Would have more of a chance as an Indy. Arnold - you already addressed this Miller - Not even an issue One that was not mentioned, but keeps coming up, would be Jeb Bush. There is no way Jeb runs now. It would not be a smart move. The voters will not elect another Bush this close to W's administration. He has the dynasty factor working against him.
