I don't for one minute think that Fitz didn't WANT to play, and WANT to play better. Facts bear out that the injury had a huge adverse effect on his game though. It's the coach's duty to all the players to put the team on the field that has the best chance to win. And that's exactly my point - Chan apparently felt he had a better chance to win with the Fitz he had than with a healthy Thigpen, and that's not going to be acceptable this year.

I think if Chan had more confidence in Thigpen we would've seen him rather than a compromised Fitz late in the year. I find it hard to believe that the broken rib(s) were unknown to the team.

I don't know what other options are out there for backup QB, but the fact that Chan would not put in a healthy Thigpen over a Fitz with broken ribs is very telling.
