Mix in a salad now and then, it'll be all good.

Unitarians.. I have no idea what that even is, it sounds like math rock. My main problem is that I don't want to be wishy-washy about religion, customizing a belief, if you will. That comes across to me as cheating - a cop out. But at the same time, I have some strong, unflappable views on bigotry and simple human decency that I believe go against the doctrines of the major religions today.

I saw that. My wife, who is as lib blue state as they come, even cringed on that one, I hope it was out of context, cuz it sure sounded bad.

He looked quite Bauhaus. You never know with this dude, for all we know, he may have gothed up on purpose as a joke, I mean, he did wear a Justin Guarini belly shirt once. -
That has been one of the constant thoughts that go through my head that I don't share with other people; if I lived during (insert era here), what side would I have been on? What side would my parents have been on and would I have been in a position to make my own choices, or even have the awareness to make the right choice? I look at Ratzinger and see someone who was able to triumph over the bonds of his time. Not alot of people throughout history have been able to claim that. I find his election rather ballsy, a polarizing figure in a polarizing time. I respect the church for taking a stand like this, although I do not agree with the stand. I'm getting your point - you have to take the doctrine for what it says, as the church appears to be, you need to be either in or out, no gray areas. Personally, I'm at a crisis of faith at the moment. The Evangelicals, the fundamentalists, the Catholics, the Muslims, all appear to be hardening their line, but it doesn't make things easier for me, from my selfish standpoint, I guess have a problem, I can't agree with 'the lines' that the religions are taking.

He's all about the transition. The Church needs to work on the legacy of JPII, as well as groom some younger prospects. So I hear.
-
The church I was baptized/confirmed in was Missouri Synod. Safe to say I'm not active anymore.

Same problem here, and now I have to make religious considerations for the new baby. The Lutherans are running with that whole evangelical rapture crowd, which is the creepy. And the Catholics appear to have gone all jackboot on everyone I was thinking voodoo. It looks like a blast, and I want one of those dolls. Maybe Santeria. They all have tricked out Chevy Nova's with air-shock kits to bounce with.
-
Ah, that's right, I got real sick that night. Extra dry and extra dirty does not work in my bladder. Are you busting out your church thing somewhere else?
-
Don't look at me, I'm Lutheran, wee'z ain't looked at to kindly by them folk.

Looks like you gots a decision to make.

Would you like to minimize the loss...

Not interested in a 1st rounder this year, and not exactly considering a lack of a 1st rounder this year as a "loss". Another 2nd rounder would be nice, though. -
Bic needs better lobbyists.

So, Buffalo will lose the last 3 out of 4 and the the natives will calling for heads. Kelly Holcomb will be the most popular person in WNY. But, if Buffalo is 10-2 after 12/04/05, a playoff spot may be wrapped up by then, or by 12/11. This might lose them the Cincy game as well. Personally, IMO, I see Buffalo losing to Houston and Atlanta, starting the season at 3-2.

Junior Moderator? Is this some kind of apprentice program? -
Do I see Oakland having 5 national games?

No Monday night, either, I would guess. That pretty much spends what will be Buffalo's annual allotment of prime-time exposure.

The Official "Unofficial" American Idol Thread

No kidding! That was classic! Look, it's hard watching this. It's really, really hard preparing to listen to this ass every week. Here's what I have to do 1) earplugs for me 2) earplugs for the wif 3) earplugs for the pets 4) earplugs for the wif's 37 week pregnant stomach 5) Find a 27" wide condom to cover the TV with so no one catches anything from that skeeve who looks like every member of The Strokes wrapped up into one dude. 6) Provide some white noise for background. Air Filter usually. It's tiring, I'm tired. I can't keep going to all of this trouble every week. I need something easier, some lighter fare. Like Bumfights. Whatever happened to Bumfights? Are they in jail or something? Anywhoo, this week was especially assy, and these people know nothing about the signature wardrobes and idiosyncracies of classic rock. First up is the mohawk woman. And the subtitles tell me that her song was written by Mac Davis, and I notice... wait... MAC DAVIS? Are you kidding me? North Dallas Forty? Smokey and the Bandit? Cannonball Run? (well, at least one of them Reynolds joints, anyway) Forget Lynyrd Bolton, the trailer park dude and forget that The Strokes guy, A former cheerleader with a Sideshow Bob hair dropping Mac Davis is rock. She forgets to have the requred beer in hand to sing Mac Davis, but it doesn't matter, management wants her out, so it will be done. I go to get some ice cream, because I like ice cream, while talking to the driveway sealer guy on the phone, the wif screams out.. "Oh...My... God... Listen!" I finish my call to the unmistakable sound of Freebird. Freebird. On American Idol. I'm upset for not seeing this coming. It should have been obvious but I will redeem myself later on. Stay tuned. Bolton sings it meh, and tries to stare at me, but he must have paid off the camera guy, because the camera always pans off just a little bit, just in time. Again, the required bottle of JD is missing, and so is the "what song is it you want to hear?". Simon tells him that singing a "sacred song" blandly could turn off the young viewers, but as always, everything he says just flies over the heads of the other two judges. Again, the order escapes me, because I let it, but the guy with the nappy dreads comes out and is forgettable, except for the observation that he must shop at Marshalls. Oh, yeah, and Ryan making an inappropriate comment about his muscles. I think trach hole boy is next, and I'm really upset to see that management decided to show a picture of baby trach hole boy with his baby trach hole patch on. This is just cruel, crueler than having to listen to him sing. One thing.. his older brother in those pics looks like what the psycho guy from "The Hitcher" must have looked like as a kid. Next is "baby V". I liked V, it's still on Sci-Fi at times, but I was fearful that she was going to fall over those steps, it sure looked like she was going to lose it. Trailer park guy sang a song written by a guy who was sitting in the front row, because he's so brave and all, and wants us to know it. And he knows where to find you, too. Sorry, but that's not "brave", going into this year's draft without a starting Left Tackle is "brave". Betty Crocker is next, and by singing Pat Benatar picks the wrong week to lose the big hair. And doesn't even wear a headband. She does a karate kick at the end. She is the chosen one. And last. Just so you all know. I turned to the wif and said "Is this freak-show going to sing Queen?" F-all of you, God's honest truth! Not quite in those words, but I totally called it. Minus the flaming white rhine-stoned glam-suit, it didn't totally suck, if the camera work didn't cause you to pass out first. Lets just say that management found their foe for the country girl. It's obvious now. People who think Bolton is a real rocker also really, really hate this guy, as if there was some discernable credibility gap between the two. Hint: one is a professional wedding singer, and one is a professional reality-show contestant. I'd call that a wash. -
and the nfl thinks throwing snowballs is bad

I want to agree with you, but it's hard. I think Don Garber uses the Rochester situation as leverage in order to get larger cities with weathier owners to buy into the league (Checketts in Salt Lake, Vergara with that Chivas thing, now Toronto) Question: why do I know this? Soccer, well, it kinda blows. Ok, it's doesn't, not at the world-class level, anyway. -
What this tells me is that Gandy is better than Shelton. Ouch. Why do I get the feeling that Kenyatta Walker is going to end up on this team?

Methinks they doth protest too much...
bobblehead replied to RJ (not THAT RJ)'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bob Matthews is the voice of the blue-hair sports scene in Rochester, and his audience is primarily the same blue-hair types who are very stodgy and shallow-minded about their sports. It's interesting to listen to, but you have to keep in mind that it is not very open-minded opinion. But.... The opposition coming from Matthews and the Rochester media has more to do with the financial situation of the state, rather than divisions between Rochester and Buffalo. They are responding to 1) Manhattan requesting 600 million for a new stadium that could cost half that much simply by moving it out of Manhattan, with upstate getting no value out of it. 2) Rochester currently building a 25 million soccer stadium and the team now asking the state for 9 million more of existing funds to complete the 'phase 2' portion (I don's see this as as big a deal as the Rochester media is making it out to be, but anywhoo.) 3) NYS already having arguably the highest taxes in the nation. 4) Upstate populations dwindling for the last 20 years. 5) And now Buffalo on top of all of this, proposing a new downtown stadium. Add all of this up and that is where the opposition gets it's legs. -
I think Super Nanny is pretty hot.

They were traded. Sorry, but that was the deal. Donahoe was shopping a deal for JP with every team on the board after the Evans pick. Dallas was the first team to bite. Green Bay was going to to pick JP if we did not (allegedly). I'm still trying to figure out who we would have picked for QB this year if we did not make the trade. The thought of having to use a first round pick on a QB this year is rather frightening.
