  1. When I first turned 50 I got a great rate from The Hartford through AARP. Ridiculously cheap. Then, two years later, they doubled my rate. No accidents, no tickets, paid on time, etc. The reason? They had no credit info on me. When I first got the insurance my credit sucked. But after two years of repairing bad credit and taking NO credit, the agencies had no score for me. I was in limbo. So, because my credit was no longer as bad, and certainly not worse (that would have shown up), they wanted to double my rate. I compared a bunch of companies and Geico was the best deal. This year, when renewing, I gave the other guys a shot. Some came close, but nobody came in for less. One company, 21st Century Insurance, was about double what I pay now and completely out of the ballpark of the others. Here's the thing. I get a letter in the mail from 21st Century every month, sometimes two, asking if I want to switch. I believe they had the site where you actually enter what you pay now, so I think they should know they were double what I pay. If that wasn't enough, I called them and told them as much and suggested they might want to save some $ on printing and postage as 1. They were double what I pay now. 2. I made that decision 6 months ago and won't revisit it for another 6 months at the earliest. 3. Their rate is double what I pay now! I think I know why their prices are so high. They are stupid and spend too much money on printing and postage targeting people who will never switch.
  2. Too sober, Cockman. I am just putting the finishing touches on a beautiful sauce I started a few hours ago, opening a bottle of red and putting the pasta on to cook in a few minutes. That'll improve my mood. Have a good night.
  3. Excellent choice. Can't decide which band is worse, but some think Cobain was the 2nd coming. Bono vs Kurt C in a who gives a crap suck-off!
  4. Of course injuries play a part. Didn't you know we were talking about football? In 2008 the Bills may not have won 3 games w/o Donte. He had to fill in for injured players at different positions, all year. Now, that's not the kind of glitz that earns MVP awards. A guy that helps you win two games, and you go to the playoffs and maybe the SB gets that award. But who was really more valuable to their team...not to the league? Without Sanders the Colts were still a playoff team. And if you look at those old posts you will see I never claimed Whitner was better than Sanders, but at the time more valuable to the Bills. One of the reasons was Whitner's versatility in an injury ravaged D, and Sanders inability to stay on the field for many games. Since then, Whitner actually got hurt and missed some games, but at the time Whitner was playing close to every defensive snap.
  5. OK, at least you got a reason. I don't have a link, but I recall BB saying he has changed a bit from his days in GB and is approaching things differently. Maybe that will help him down the road. Sometimes players, even QBs, even 2nd rounders, even from GB, need a bit of time to find their way.
  6. No this: He is replacing Sorgi. Bomar still with the team.
  7. That was judgment. I didn't base my comment on what teams did with these players at another point in time. I did what you should do when you evaluate players, I used my eyes. And yes Whitner had his worst season with the Bills last year. But do you think Sanders was more valuable in the TWO games he played last year or the SIX the year before? You actually have to play the games to be valuable.
  8. Did you read the article before adding the Bomar comment?
  9. Are you psychic? Have you spoken with him? Just wondering how your formed this opinion. I don't mind you questioning my judgment. That SHOULD be the discussion. I am questioning your logic, which seems to be something along the lines of: GB is great at developing QBs. If they didn't want BB then there is no way he could be a good QB for anyone else. I don't agree with your judgment, but that varies from person to person. But your logic is atrocious and logic is logic.
  10. Don't ask him direct questions that force him to think critically. He has shown he isn't up to the task.
  11. You can't/won't answer the question, so you lose. You have forfeited any standing in this discussion.
  12. We may be the only two. I thought about #1 after I posted and think that makes quite a difference, too.
  13. Let's start here. What if you thought he looked better than that? What if, in your assessment of his two preseason appearances, he looked to be reading the defenses well, have a strong arm with decent accuracy, seemed cool and collected in the huddle, did a decent job of avoiding the rush, etc. I'm not saying he did those things right now. I'm asking, "What if you saw that in BB's performance?" Would the fact that he was a 2nd round pick, and was released by GB convince you he couldn't be a decent backup and perhaps starter in the NFL?
  14. While I don't wear much Bills gear (maybe a hat) when I go to an away game (or even a home game to be honest) I am open about being a Bills fan and root for the Bills during the game. I have had almost universally good experiences at other stadiums. I have been to Oakland and LA (Raiders both), SF, Miami, Jacksonville, Seattle, San Diego, Pittsburgh, Foxborough (a long time ago), New Jersey (Jets and Giants). Cleveland, Milwaukee (Packers a long time ago) and probably a few more. I find most fans like to give the visiting fans a bit of the business, but you should expect that. Respond with humor and they tend to do the same. Some of the most fun I have ever had with the opposing fans was with Raider fansin LA (believe it or not) and Steeler fans. Often we end up drinking and tailgating after the game. I find Jets fans easier to deal with in New Jersey than at the Ralph (where those who attend seem to act like jerks). But if you meet up with jerks and/or act like a jerk I imagine things can get ugly, like they do at The Ralph from time to time. Covering yourself in Bills gear may not be the best way to go to another teams territory, but that's a personal choice.
  15. It may be a fact, but it is irrelevant to whether BB might have a decent NFL future. That's where you are simply confused. Players have been cut by teams before and done well. As has been noted, GB isn't really in the typical situation QB-wise. They have one of the best starting QBs in the league and a late round pick that ended up being fantastic and playing far better than many had expected. You are using an irrelevant and trivial fact to support an opinion you have. Or are you telling me your opinion of Brohm is based on this fact alone, or primarily on this fact? Your opinion of BB isn't based on what you have seen of him, but on the basis that no QB this high has ever been let go? If that's the case, then who is really the one out there in this conversation?
  16. I WAS talking about Arizona...Derek Anderson is a marginal starting QB with a history of an MCL injury. If you think the Cards look good at QB you are even dumber than I had pegged you. And I think you are pretty freaking dumb. The Trent/Bills comment was there to illustrate that the Bills, like the Cards, are NOT Green Bay. You seem to think that if GB likes someone they are good, if they don't they are bad, if they do something it's the right thing to do, etc. Different teams have different circumstances. A team with an injury prone QB and/or a team with a marginal starting QB might have to do things a bit differently than a team with Aaron Rodgers as the starting QB. The Bills will probably be releasing a pretty darn good RB who will be NFL worthy and can help a team. When the player was drafted is completely irrelevant to whether he is good or not once he is released.
  17. The entire conversation is about our opinion.
  18. GB has had VERY durable starting QBs. GB only went with ONE backup QB last year. Is that something you think most teams should try? The Bills could never do that with Trent. History indicates he will go down at some point.
  19. Of ALL TIME? Dunno Probably of my time. Has to be the most pretentious band of my time. They are uninteresting in every conceivable way, IMO.
  20. Where he was drafted is totally inconsequential here. You may think it makes a better story, but it is meaningless in this discussion. Trust me.
  21. Two rookie backup QBs. I think Ken might be hitting the sauce a bit this year.
  22. Because you can only keep 53 players on the roster. I bet Chan cuts several players he thinks may have a future in the NFL. And many teams carry three QBs. On some of those teams all three have to step up and play during the year. If one of them is Trent Edwards, the chances the other QBs will have to play is higher than on other teams. If Brown isn't ready to play this year (he isn't) then he really shouldn't be on the 53 man roster. There is a very good chance the Bills #3 QB sees some PT this season.
  23. Certainly Mayweather is among today's most famous boxer. with that said, I doubt 10% of sports fans would be able to identify his picture. The attack was certainly racist, homophobic and anti-little people. I haven't hear much from any of the groups he attacked so far. Maybe they will respond down the road. I just think that boxing smack is so completely fake/calculated most don't really pay any attention to it, or give it much credence.
  24. My Grandfather was a very timid driver. (My Grandmother didn't drive, but would shout at him to speed up and run lights all the time. It was a scream.) Anyway, one time driving with him I noticed he took some very odd routes to go to some of our stops. I found out later that he didn't like to take left hand turns, so he just took right hand turns to go wherever he needed to go.
