  1. I don't hate Glennon. He is a bit thin, but that doesn't necessarily disqualify him.
  2. I'm not sure there is reason to celebrate yet (of course, I don't know there isn't). Too much uncertainty here. The Bills aren't a team looking to REBUILD. Until the changes are made (actually until we see the results) we won't know for sure. But I don't think wholesale changes, when you are at the stage the Bills are, is necessarily a good thing.
  3. I KNOW what it means. I was a logic major in undergrad. But I still don't think that fits the description in this case.
  4. Yes, only "a dick" tries to win a football game in the NFL. You got me on that one. Now we're bashing a guy for doing something that worked? But then again, Marrone wasn't the OC, so there is that.
  5. No idea who the Bills will find for QB. I have to trust Polian as a better alternative to the guys who have been making that call the past few years. It is true Polian has had some luck in that regard, and maybe wasn't the QB genius many believe him to be. But he has had several successful QB decisions. I'll take that, luck or not. If Whaley is still with the team. I hope that is the case. But before the move is made, we are just guessing at whose call that will be.
  6. I understand. But had Pegula fired Marrone, his "dissing" the owner would be a bit more interesting, IMO. That's all.
  7. I was a HUGE Haslett supporter years ago. Now? I'm not so sure.
  8. I can't say what happened to the Bills playcalling in the first half. But it was refreshing. Do you think the Pats* were purposely throwing the game? If so, why play the starters for a half?
  9. Interesting, for sure. But Doug wasn't fired. If he was, that would be even more interesting.
  10. How's that now?
  11. I think the better question is. "who gave him THAT contract?"
  12. The guy has hired exactly ONE staff in the NFL. He's not even in contention for "King of the gumba hiring".
  13. Again, agree 100%. Fixing the OL, as it is mostly guard-related, shouldn't be that daunting of a task. Fixing the offensive scheme shouldn't be that hard because---well because it's hard to get worse. Fixing the QB situation is a bit more complicated. But they need to make an effort. But fixing the first two problems, makes whoever is at QB look better,
  14. Well, Pegula has already demonstrated he isn't cheap. But even owners who throw money around make mistakes.
  15. As head coach BOTH sides of the team are "your side". Better get used to that.
  16. I love Reich but can't imagine hiring Frank as a HC. I think that would be a major mistake at this point. I'd be fine with him as an OC, if that's the direction they want to go. But I'd feel better about it if Frank had success, as an OC with a questionable QB. But perhaps he could help EJ. Overall, I think the Bills need to look for real experience at this point in time.
  17. I love Frank. I think hiring him as a HC would be a major mistake. I'd be fine with him as an OC, if that's the direction they want to go.
  18. But really, who doesn't? I have to concur with this. I doubt that played any role.
  19. Hasn't Belicheat* told us you can't play the game at half speed? I think he did. Many coaches have that philosophy. When he is piling on points at the end of a game already won, I believe that is what he says. I may be wrong. Brady, and all the active starters, played. Do you think they were jaking it? Why start Brady at all, and risk losing him for the playoffs, if you weren't going to try to win? With that said, given the way the game went, I think the Bills would have won with EJ---their defense controlled the game. But I don't really see the point in starting EJ in that game to tell the truth.
  20. I read an article on Rumblings that suggests Poiian's hire "marginalized" Whaley's position. I don't know how true that is. I can't think Polian is in this for the long-haul. Whaley is a pretty good GM, I think. I'd like to think they can work together. Honestly, while I knew Nix was involved with the Bills, I never thought his position was all that influential these days. I have to admit, I'm a bit confused. But I'm used to that.
  21. And not to beat this horse too much longer... But has Gus Malhazn ever worked with a staff of coaches with MORE experience than him---and at the same or higher level? I see his DC has experience, but clearly at lesser football programs, for the most part. His OC is a kid that was a graduate assistant a few years ago. The reason I ask is, how will be work with coaches who have been in the NFL, some perhaps with HC experience (maybe Schwartz, though I'd have to think that would be a slight to him and he's walk)? Can he take advice, or is he used to simply calling the shots? I didn't look up his entire history, so maybe some of you have this information. I assume if he comes into the NFL as a HC he will have to surround himself with assistants with a lot of NFL experience. Not knowing how these relationships might work represents another unknown with a guy like Gus. Maybe I'd be all in, if the Bills were in a rebuild mode. But not this year. Off to the fireworks. Happy New Year to you all.
  22. You are one of my most respected posters, but we will continue to disagree on this. Harbaugh and Carrol had previous NFL coaching experience, which means they had experience coaching men---men who made big salaries. They also build good NFL networks with position coaches. Kelly remains the ONLY HC in the league with no previous NFL experience. While the college game may "influence" the pro game, it isn't a slam dunk for a guy who has been good in one, to be good in the other. Too much failed history here to suggest otherwise. And while Gus offense may be brilliant, he doesn't get to "recruit" for that offense in the NFL. Maybe, after a few offseason and a few drafts, he gets the kind of players he needs to make it work. Can he adjust in the meantime? Seriously, if he is offered big money to enter the NFL at a coordinator position and that is "beneath" him, I'm not sure the NFL is the place for him. You can be a successful NFL coach one year, and a coordinator for a year or two, until you get hired as a HC again. Happens all the time. If he really wants to be in the NFL he should be open to taking a coordinator job---of course, if the money is right. Nobody who hasn't been an NFL head coach is a "sure thing" to be a good one. However a guy who has a good track record as a good NFL coach has already proven he can be, and might be the safer bet, IMO.
  23. I hope we do better than Schwartz, but he'd be fine with a top level OC. (Why do people keep thinking Reich will get a HC job?). Again, I hope they don't do this. The Bills are not rebuilding. Gus has ZERO NFL experience. That is a giant hurdle to overcome, IMO. Only Chip Kelly has managed to do it with any success (and I'm not entirely sold on him yet).. I have to ask, does Gus have a good network of coaches in the NFL? Would Schwartz even consider staying and working under a guy with his experience, or lack of? Maybe a good solution would be to bring in Gus in a Coordinator/Assistant HC capacity, with the understanding he has the inside track if/when Schwartz moves on. I think the Bills are poised to go to the next level next year, perhaps even without a top QB. I'd hate to screw that up by hiring a guy who might be in over his head. I'm all in with The Chin, though. Cowher would be an epic hire, and now the job might even be interesting to him.
  24. You play to win the game of course. Only losers play to lose. Starting Manuel actually accomplishes nothing in the last game of the year. I'd start Orton in that game all day long.
  25. You give a damn about the HC's personality? Rex has already proven to be a terrible HC. There should be a riot in Buffalo if he is hired, IMO.
