Will the Bills dress 3 QBs against the Colts?
The Dean replied to PlayoffsPlease's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That used to be the rule. They stopped that in 2012 (I think), but expanded the game day roster to 46. If there was another change this offseason, I am unaware. -
The late show with Stephen Colbert premiers tonight

Yes, when he was on it. After he left, it was a mess. Joe Rogan and Doug Stanhope are just horrible, IMO. -

According to everything I have read today, TT starts and Cassel is #2. Makes a bit of sense to me. The real tough question (which I doubt Rex would answer) is, if TT is unavailable for a period of time, who would get the starting nod. My believe, and my hope, is it would be EJ. IMO, Cassel simply makes a safer, and more practical, gameday #2. -

No. (That's my best guess.) -
Matt Cassel re-signed, will be #2 QB

Indeed. -

I'm not much for traditional late night talk shows, anymore. But I'll give Corbert a shot. He's head and shoulders more talented than Conan, Fallon and Kimmel. (Though, while I don't watch him, I think Jimmy Kimmel is fairly funny. He was great on pre-show for NFL football, and was fantastic at picking games.) -

It's best to not try to make sense of it all. -

I was talking about the fans---and specifically the fans on this board. -
If you are halfway handy, you can probably do it yourself. Me? I wouldn't even begin to think about trying it. I've hung a few pictures, but you do NOT want to look behind them. But, yes if you plan to hide the cords and connections, you will need a bit more, but not too much.

No doubt. And I think you give ANY QB (and particularly any younger QB with limited experience) a bit of time before you start going off. For this crew? I think TT's got about a quarter---maybe a half. -

Doesn't sound argumentative at all. There is no one perfect way for this situation. But I don't think this is about any particular flaw in EJ's game. I think it has more to do with which QB, operating with very very little prep during the week, is going to be more effective. I believe the coaches are more comfortable going with a guy who has been in that situation a number of times, in his career---and with different teams, under different coordinators, against different styles of defenses, etc. And, since he's a "safe" style, quick release, short pass kind of guy, perhaps a ton of prep isn't needed. Execution will be key, if Cassel has to step in. OTOH, I think EJ offers more as a starter, if he gets the necessary prep the week before, has a game plan worked to his strengths, etc. I'm not saying he CAN'T come in and run the team, should TT go down, but it might not be as safe of an option. But Chevy Van, makes an excellent point. Playing scout QB might actually result in some regression for EJ. But if they still have Trick Shot Tanney, they might be covered there. But hey, WTF do I know? -

It's probably already been said, but I haven't read through the entire thread. I think the reason coaches might prefer Cassel as the #2 on gameday, is because he can probably play effectively (or as effectively as he can) without too much preparation during the week. If you believe EJ is a talented, but still growing/learning QB, you may not want to have him working the game plan when he's had very little preparation for it. The week before the game, the #1 QB gets almost all the snaps. And having EJ QB the scout team may not be the worst thing, either. Now, should TT suffer an injury and miss starts, I think most here believe EJ is the more compelling starting QB (or at least I feel that way), and Cassel can continue his #2 stint. The problem here is, if Cassel has to step in if/when TT goes down a few times, and performs really well, he may have the coaches rethinking starting EJ. But QBs performing well is a good problem to have, I think. Typically the #1 QB plays the third preseason game. I believe we are learning what typically happens doesn't mean too much with how QBs on this team will be handled. -
I was rooting for the Buckeyes, but a gamer like Michael Brewer going down, is never a "good thing", IMO.

Fred Jackson expected to sign with Seattle(update-signed)
The Dean replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With any luck, Fred will repay your loyalty when you get fired from your job. He'll march right down to the GM of that PopCopy store and give him what for! But don't worry, you can probably find a job at FedEx Kinkos. And, after all, they are a far superior outfit, so you can feel good about that. You'll probably lose that $0.20 raise you just got, but so what---you'll be playing for a classy organization. Screw PopCopy. FedEx Kinkos forever! Putz -

I find Amy insanely funny. On rare occasions, I find her fuc#able, but that probably has as much, or more, to do with how funny I find her. -
I saw all the games, even those not on NFL, so I know the play you are talking about. I thought the big clutch throws (and the drive at the end of the Brown's game) more that made up for 2-3 bad throws EJ made. I think the coaches did TT a disservice by not letting him take some shots into the end zone in that first game. In the end, though, it didn't hurt him. And both TT and EJ look very calm and composed, IMO.

Dan Carpenter injury (update - put on notice)

Dan is, supposedly, healed. He is just getting his rhythm and timing back. Or at least that's what I've heard (and hope)> -
Would You Have Your Son Circumcised, and Why?
The Dean replied to Rob's House's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Whatever you, and his mother decide, should be good enough for anyone. My buddy adopted a child who was between 1-2 years old. The boy was not circumcised. At that point, I would just let the boy be, but my buddy decided he had to get clipped. Seems a bit cruel at that age. By the time your son can "decide" for himself, it will be a bit too late, IMO. But a man can live a fine and safe life either way. -
Sounds good to me. And good luck to the Pack. Aaron is my fantasy team QB this year. But I always root for the Pack, and Rodgers, unless they are playing the Bills (or the Steelers).

Dan Carpenter injury (update - put on notice)
The Dean replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Norwood wasn't a distance FG kicker, that's for sure. But within his distance (I think it was about 43 yards or so) he was money through most of his career. I don't believe Cundiff has ever been money from any distance, with the exception of XPs. I could be wrong about this. -
Fred Jackson expected to sign with Seattle(update-signed)
The Dean replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I really think the Bills could have kept Fred and saved money--he would have taken a cut. At this point in time, they felt the younger guys were better for the team. Do I agree? Doesn't matter. It's football, and older guys get moved on. But I can see the logic. If Shady gets dinged, Fred probably isn't the guy you want carrying the load, at his current age (and his recent injury issues). So Karlos and Bryce have to be ready---and that means some PT, i think. But even if you disagree with that, perhaps you should get over it. I don't think negativo will ever get past it. To therapy for him. -

Pass I asked the same question (I think). My recollection is, he does kickoff, but he isn't good at it. -

I believe you may be right. I think it's kind of a risky game to play with a kicker, but maybe Rex wants to test his mental toughness. ???? Norwood was a WAY better kicker than Cundiff.
