  1. I'm all for JP starting. That'd be the best option. That said, I trust Wyche and Mularkey. If they feel he's not ready, then he's not ready. Fine. But if we have to go another year without JPL, let's at least not suffer with you-know-who.
  2. Don't encourage her. Every reasonable person, even some of the Drew apologists, know the offensive line hasn't been a problem this year. They have done well, even great at points. Even when Drew had plenty of time today, he bumbled it. The O-Line isn't the problem, kids. It's the guy behind it.
  3. Please don't "contribute" to this thread if you have nothing even remotely intelligent to say. Thanks.
  4. Yeah, and that post was just brilliant. (This one, too, admittedly - but someone had to say it!)
  5. At this point, I barely need to post because you're beating your own arguments for me. I almost feel bad arguing logic against you because you just rely on "Well, I think he can really do it next year. No, this time for real. I have a feeling, just give him another year. He might turn it around." But you're right about one thing. This entire team has gotten better around Drew. And yet, he's remained a constant failure. The defense, special teams, offensive line, receiving core, tight ends, running backs have all improved and yet Drew continues to bumble their success. He's finished.
  6. Yes, that's it. I must not have watched football. Silly me. The single biggest copout argument on TBD today! And I still don't see how Matthews would be a worse option than Bledsoe. When he played this year, he looked pretty good. He seemed to do adequately for the Bears and Redskins when he played. Sometimes he looked bad, but you're willing to ignore it when Drew does it. And I've offered a very realistic answer, you just don't like it. Cut Drew. It doesn't matter who replaces him because it can't get any worse. Keep Matthews if you want. He's about the same age as Drew, has the same amount of upside, can play the role Drew was asked of just not losing games. And he costs less. Here, if it'll make you feel better, he can patch a "Bledsoe" name tag on his back. I know you like that name. Start Losman. Why not? What would be worse? He throws INTs, takes sacks, makes dumb throws, fumbles? Drew can do all that, but he's much older and has no future. Or sign anyone else. Literally anyone. At least with someone new, they might surprise us. As much as you think Matthews is a guranteed loser, you don't KNOW that. At least he offers that. Bledsoe has shown exactly what he will do. You KNOW he will fail in big games, he's proven it to us plenty of times in 3 years.
  7. ENOUGH comparing Drew to anyone. He is Drew Bledsoe and no one else. And there are plenty of QBs out there that can play as well or better than Bledsoe for a fraction of the cost. Plenty. The grim reality is that you're too stubborn to open your damn eyes.
  8. Oh, my god. Do you think before you say these things? Jim Kelly's first three years here were when he was a young man and was still learning! Drew is 32. He is not improving, he is regressing. He's finished. Come on now.
  9. Um, no. That's stupid logic, Exiled. Drew is not some up and coming QB, he's in the twilight of his career. He's 32. He's not going to get any better. He is what he is. He has shown us what he's capable of over 3 seasons. It just plain IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH. It's time to go with Anybody But Drew.
  10. Almost as popular as the elitist pithy comeback remarks that completely dismiss arguments with two sentences (although I completely agree with you about Gray).
  11. Okay, wait. So Bledsoe gets the credit for the 9-7 record? I thought it was a team game. Or is that only when we lose? And as far as I'm concerned, we're 9-7 in spite of Bledsoe. In fact, we might have been 11-5 if we went with anyone else. We don't need the next Montana, just someone that won't lose us games with stupid throws, terrible pocket awareness and little fire. And you point to Drew's records. Which is all Drew has, so I hope it keeps him warm at night. He puts up yards in garbage time. He has done this his entire career. Instead of looking at numbers, how about watching how he plays in games with pressure. That's what counts. Give me a QB that gets ugly numbers but can play in the clutch over Drew the paper tiger any day.
  12. Even if the Rams and Colts had both lost, we still blew it. It doesn't matter anymore, can't you see? We lost. Those games don't mean anything. They all depended on us winning and we didn't come through.
  13. It's even easier to dismiss an argument by saying I don't know anything about football. And you're writing off Matthews, who is essentially a mystery. We don't know what he can do because he hasn't started very much in his career. When we've seen him, he's managed games at least as well as Drew has shown. At this point, we know what Drew can offer us. He's showed us his hand. And it's not good for the team. Let's try someone else. In no other profession can you fail so often at your job and still have it.
  14. No, that's not right. That's the kind of mentality that accepts mediocrity and Drew Bledsoe, thinking we can't get anyone better. We don't know if Shane is better or worse, but we do know this: it can't get much worse. How much worse could he possibly do? Hold on the ball too long, take sacks, throw picks, fumble at the wrong times? Drew already does all that AND sucks out a ton of money while doing it! We don't necessairly need someone with a glitzy name. At this point, anyone with at least one working arm would be better than what we have. It couldn't get any worse. All we ask Drew to do now is hand the ball off and make safe throws. He can't do it. Anyone but Drew.
  15. Cowbell at least won some games. Billieve lost this one.
  16. Was he sacked by a parked car?
  17. So, you say that Drew had one "good to pretty good" performance of the year and many "below average to above average" performances. We know Matthews can do the below average to above average. I'm sure he could've had one good game this year. And I bet it would hurt less if he choked as consistently in big games. We could always go, "Well, yeah, but it's Shane Matthews." Drew is supposed to be a big time QB. Guess what - he isn't.
  18. Billieve.
  19. Who said anything about JP? All I'm saying is, if JP's not ready, then let's go with someone else. BUT NOT DREW. We could get the same productivity out of a Shane Matthews that we could out've the "new and improved" Drew. AT A FRACTION OF THE COST. Which means, the money could be better spent elsewhere than on trying to make one man feel better.
  20. No we couldn't. All outcomes depended on us winning. As we failed to do so, nothing else matters. Don't worry about it.
  21. Are you telling me Shane Matthews couldn't have done as well as Drew has this year? Can you name one game where Drew did anything Shane couldn't, and at a fraction of the cost?
  22. This year, we really dumbed it down for Drew. We didn't ask him to win games for us. We didn't even really ask him to do anything. We just wanted him to NOT LOSE THEM FOR US. That was his entire job this year. Hand off the ball, make the easy throws, don't screw up. Not once did he do anything to justify his huge contract. Not once did he do anything that Shane Matthews couldn't. Do you think that statement sounds ridiculous? Does it? Name one. We would have been just as productive at the QB position this year with a journeyman like Matthews as we were with Bledsoe. Sorry, AKC. Sorry, Bledsoe's other cousins. The truth can hurt sometimes when you hide from it for so long.
  23. The depressing thing is, I can't see our braintrust getting rid of Drew. I hope they do. Please, please, please. We're wasting our time every snap the guy takes.
  24. The thing about Drew, and it can be said for pretty much all QBs, is that when he plays with confidence, he can play well. When he doesn't, he's the best player for the opposing team, ya dig? Right now, Drew isn't playing extraordinary football - but he is playing with confidence. Not only does that benefit his own game (his pocket awareness seems to have improved a lot), but since he's the quarterback, it also rubs off on the others.
