So was Bledsoe REALLY the problem?
Grant replied to MadBuffaloDisease's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He did. In fact, it was the AFC Championship game in Pittsburgh in 2001 - the one famously finished by Drew Bledsoe. Take from that what you will. -
Would Cowladies trade for Drew?
Grant replied to Typical TBD Guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You're right. I haven't seen one "trade Drew" thread ever. Especially not in the past few days. Especially not any by JP-era, to name one. Thanks, mate. -
I think that Atlanta beats Philly next week, and not only that - they win by more than one score. Philly fans are left to wonder if things would've been different if Owens hadn't been hurt. I hate predicting actual scores, but we'll say it ends up as ATL 33 PHI 23 In Pittsburgh, it's pretty much playing for the Lombardi. Despite the consensus of TSW (which, for some reason, always seems to be wrong when predicting games - didn't everyone guarantee a Colts win today?), I believe this is going to be ultra close. Maybe even over time. In the end, I think that Ben "Frankenstein" Roethlisberger makes a critical mistake at the wrong time and the Patriots pull out a close one. NE 20 PIT 17 The Super Bowl is a big Michael Vick/Tom Brady love fest. Two media darlings in the biggest game of the season, and they get a lot of publicity. The game ends up being closer than most pundits expected, but the Patriots are in control the entire game. NE 27 ATL 19

Do you really think that? I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not, because I've seen you post this in a few different threads. -
*If* New England wins, do they beat Pittsburgh?
Grant replied to Grant's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why would anyone think that the Pats are going to walk all over Pittsburgh? The Steeler's receivers are much more physical than the Colts. The Steelers in general are far more physical than the Colts were and are going to provide a different type of challenge to New England. Plus, the Patriots are going to be on the road in Pittsburgh. AND they have a shorter week. This isn't even considering the massive injuries New England has had. So, why is everyone counting the Steelers out? Because they escaped a "shoulda lost" situation against the Jets? Does no one forget that the Steelers beat up a healthier, although Dillon-less, Patriots team and that was also in Pittsburgh? -

The reason this thread is getting ignored is because it's been discussed, like, every day. For the past thousand million years. -
Coudl Gregg Williams Be the Next Belichick?
Grant replied to JDG's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think GW will eventually get another head coach job, but I'd still rather have Mularkey now rather than waiting for Williams to maybe, possibly turn the corner and be a good coach. After 3 years, Williams didn't show enough progress to warrant an extension. It's the same situation with our current QB. -

Both teams are very similar and it's going to be a lot of long drives, running, high percentage passing and blitzing. It will be won by a field goal or less. Count on it. -
I cannot stand the fact that...
Grant replied to MadBuffaloDisease's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bingo. It's a lose-lose situation with the Steelers and Patriots. -
The Patriots are a model franchise all around, and they deserve our respect. I hope that someday the Bills can be just as successful in our lifetime.

How would the Bills of been if we drafted Dillon?
Grant replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Would both backs have still ended up with the Patriots? -

I think the Pats will really take Ben "Frankenstein" Roethlisberger out of the game, but what about that running attack? -
Coming off of a 3-13 season, trading for a high profile Drew Bledsoe was the best option. If we had signed a Jeff Blake or Jon Kitna, we probably wouldn't have sold out all of those early games because it wouldn't signal a big step forward from the catastrophic Rob Johnson error. Going after someone no one thougt was possible and getting him was huge. And, in hind sight, that is something that helped our prestige and in a roundabout way helped get great players like Sam Adams, Lawyer Milloy and Takeo Spikes.

I don't know who I'd rather win that AFC Championship game, personally. I know tons of Steelers fans, and most of them can be real pricks when it comes to football. On the other hand, I don't know how much Patriot ass kissing I can take. So, I'm torn on who to root for because I *wanted* the Colts to represent the AFC, but that doesn't look very likely at this point.

I don't think so. Had Morrison and Cobain lived, they would've eventually started to regress and put out subpar albums compared to what their fans were used to, just as it happens to almost all bands. The Doors especially weren't very well regarded until after Morrison's death.
-
The trade for Bledsoe was a good one, and it helped us more than it hurt us, I think. Especially when you look at how it effected how FAs viewed our franchise. With no Bledsoe, we might not have been able to lure Sam Adams, Lawyer Milloy and even Takeo Spikes. That said, it's also a good idea to realize when Bledsoe has doneall he can for us here and it's time to move on.

The Doors are the most over-rated band of all time, with Nirvana a close second. They made mediocre at best jam songs, and the only thing that has made them a "great" band is that Jim Morrison died young. Same with Nirvana.

Me too! The thing about Donahoe that I think is maybe a little polarizing is that he doesn't seem to have very much loyalty to a particular player. I personally like that approach, since the players really don't care about the teams either anyway - it's all just for the fans rooting for the laundry. He's a very bottom line kind of guy, and that's what we need - this is a business first, football second League unfortunately. Basically, Drew, if you ain't pulling your weight - don't let the door hit you on the way out. -
In the post before you said you can respect a good team, then you make this petty statement. Why no respect for the Colts, then? Both are very good teams.

Not so fast, junior.

oh, I agree totally - it was just in the wording that made me laugh. Donahoe is really shutting up those that thought that his ego might get in the way of his decision making, or that he's afraid to admit he's wrong. -

This isn't a slam, but I laughed out loud for almost a solid minute at this statement. I don't know why. -
How important is keeping Travis Henry
Grant replied to OnTheRocks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I meant Antowain's performance against us, specifically, in which he would always play like a mad man. Whether or not Henry is an overall success or not for the Dolphins in this hypothetical situation, you can bet anything that he'd play his heart out and more against us. And a draft pick has a better chance of failing than Henry, I think, especially something like a 2nd, 3rd or 4th round pick. Henry has proven he can be a very solid and very gritty running back. -
