It should be a crime to bump posts if you have nothing to say. Regardless, I think what we need to do this offseason is simple. Losman is the guy that we WANT to start next year, but the facts point to the obvious fact that he just might not be ready yet. Thus, we will also need to bring in a veteran FA, like Jon Kitna or even Kurt Warner, who could compete for the job and, were he to win it, would be servicable until Losman is ready. I don't think this team will support Drew Bledsoe much longer. Eric Moulds has become noticably tired of his antics. He even said if things didn't improve (reading between the lines: the offense [reading between the lines: the quarterback]) , he might have to reconsider his choice to stay with Buffalo. But Moulds is now saying he wants to restructure and stay, and on the same day, Donahoe voices his displeasure with Bledsoe. They might be connected. I like Drew as a person, but as a quarterback - we simply need to go in a new direction.

With the 52nd overall pick in the 2005 NFL draft..

So, Donahoe isn't happy with Bledsoe's performance

How about reading my post for comprehension before posting such dribble? The Bengals, as I said, are reportedly getting rid of Rudi Johnson. This is why they drafted Chris Perry. However, there's no guarantee he's ready - and I could see that they might be interested in Henry for a good Option 1B. Cleveland is another team that could be involved in a trade with Henry. And I'm glad you are guaranteeing that this will never happen. Can you tell me what numbers to pick for the lottery, jackass? Of course it's all speculation. THAT'S WHY WE'RE NOT GENERAL MANAGERS. My god. Also, why no Jon Kitna? We just need a veteran who will take low pay and hold the reigns until Losman is ready. He's absolutely not any worse or self-destructive than Drew Bledsoe, but he would come at a FRACTION of the cost. Anyway, your dribble detracts from the main point of the post. Obviously, the boss isn't happy with Drew Bledsoe and he will be looking for possible short term replacements. -
So, Donahoe isn't happy with Bledsoe's performance

http://www.boston.com/dailynews/006/sports...ledsoe_s:.shtml So, Donahoe isn't very happy. For 90% of us Bills fans, this is good news. Maybe we could swap Travis Henry for Jon Kitna? Henry could compete with Chris Perry for the starting job, since Rudi Johnson reportedly probably isn't returning. Such a trade isn't unreasonable. And heck, we could even get back into the first round if Dallas wants Bledsoe. Thus, essentially we traded one first rounder for two quarterbacks. Trade scenarios aside, this does prove that Donahoe is not married to Bledsoe and it certainly puts to rest that Donahoe's ego won't let him admit the Bledsoe trade was a failure. -
It's funny and sad because it's true. I'm sure I'm not the only one that got the impression that we seemed to be expecting the Steelers to just roll over. I mean, what were Stamer and Haggan doing on the field in that first goal line situation?

I don't think Bledsoe can even make it to the playoffs again, to be honest. In order to win with him at QB, we need to go in with the mindset that he will be the best player on the opposing team in a Bills uniform.
-
Our situation with Bledsoe is a classic case of should we go with the devil we know or the one we don't. Usually, it's probably better to stick with what you have because then at least you know what you're getting. In this case, I don't think we could do much worse.
-
Not if you don't get any value, and not if no one else wants them. This isn't Madden, you can't just trade everyone for picks to avoid cutting them. It takes two to make a deal.
-
It's possible to win with Bledsoe if the entire team and coaching staff understands that they may often have to play in spite of him spotting the other team 14 points.
-
Bledsoe keeps proving his detractors true. He can win easy, no pressure games but can't play in meaningful games, especially on the road. He doesn't have any pocket awareness, often times can't move at all to avoid the easiest pressure and he is clearly finished.

I wouldn't mind Charlie Batch either. He never got a fair shake in the NFL - played on the worst team with the worst receivers with the worst offensive line for two or three years. By the time they started improving those areas, they brought in Harrington. So, some viable short term alternatives could be.. Mike McMahon Charlie Batch Kelly Holcomb

All of this negativity, and for what???

Haw many want Drew as the starter next year?
Grant replied to Fan in San Diego's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Absolutely not, but polls are always dangerous with these sorts of topics as people will usually respond with, like, five aliases to skew the results. But another year with Drew is another year of crying in your beer in January. -
The Jets dont lose to the Rams if we win vs Pitt

It sucks worse that we lost to a bunch of back-ups. Sorry. -
Try to justify Drew's place on this team.

I still can't understand how some people still refuse to see the glaring truth that keeps smacking them in the face time and time again and still they think "Maybe next time it won't hurt." Losing Bledsoe is addition by subtraction. No matter who lines up under center besides Bledsoe will be an improvement simply because they are fresh and would offer something different. -

Unless you're retarded or 12 years old, you should be wise enough to know that at 32 years old, Drew Bledsoe's play is not going to change very much. Once again, Bledsoe has shown us what he has to offer. It hasn't been good enough. Nothing personal, Drew, but don't let the door hit you on the way out. -
Crowell & Stamer in the goal line defense package?
Grant replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I saw that too! It looked like we weren't taking this game very seriously. Did we just expect them to roll over and die or something? -
I'm happy that the season turned out to be competitive, but disappointed that it ended again with mediocrity.
-
I don't know. I used to think he was the worst on our line, but the line play improved exponentially this year and Teague was a big part of it. I wouldn't be opposed to upgrading the center position, but I don't think it's a problem. I'd rather get a stud LT and a real LG.

Yep. Right on. This isn't just an angry mob calling for Drew's head (well it is a bit, maybe, but there's more). He hasn't played all year. It's just that we were willing to overlook it while we were winning. If we want to continue heading in the direction we are, and continue to improve, we need a QB that can win under pressure. Bledsoe is fine if we're killing a team by twenty points, but if we're down or it's close, he will choke. Look at his career. It's pretty much a natural law. -

PLEASE. This isn't like Drew is an enigma to us. This isn't like he's only spent one year here. He has had THREE YEARS TO SHOW SOMETHING. He has FAILED, time and time again. Everything has improved except him. The expriment failed. End it quickly, Donahoe. -
It doesn't seem really popular right now...but

Well, that was the indication that I got. I just don't think Wyche and Mularkey trust Losman yet, which is also why he did a lot of handing off. Like I said, if they don't feel he's ready - and even if he is, for insurance purposes - we need to bring in another vet we can rely on that doesn't rhyme with Rew Redrow. -

Actually, we're two years behind. A 3 year plan turned into a 5, maybe 6 year plan. If they feel JP is ready, put him in. It can't get much worse. The bottom line is, we can't start Drew again. I think almost everyone agrees on this except for, like, maybe three very loud people. Every aspect of the team is moving forward, progressing and learning except the QB who just sits there and drags us down. At least with JP, we can improve (and as Mark pointed out, adds another dimension with his scrambling). -

All offensive lines have problems! No team in the league will ever have a perfect one. Ours right now is pretty good. I wouldn't mind it getting better, especially on the left side of the line. But it's not our primary problem.
