  1. Exactly, the last time a VP shot someone it made its way into history books.
  2. Our VP shot someone in the face! THen he tried to cover it up (or at least place roadblocks to public disclosure). As Cafferty said on CNN "I was tought that this is a newsworthy story at the school I went to." It is not as though the VP ran over someone's foot, pushed them over by mistake, or any minor accident. He shot him in the face and chest. This is not a partisan thing (though I like the idea of him sweating). I think the right-wing response of blaming the guy Cheney shot, downplaying the injury (he only got "peppered"). and otherwise defending Cheney's response is far more partisan than insisting he address it to the American public.
  3. There is something defenitly disturbing about those twins - its like some evil inscestuous, twin, gay porn.
  4. I don't think softballs will be thrown, rather they are setting up a batting tee and placing the balls on there for Cheney to hit. What a f-ing crock of sh*t. How about a press conference (cheney has not had one for over three years) - or, if he is worried about potential criminal charges have his personal lawyer up there taking the heat.
  5. Just for fun: Good news, ladies and gentlemen, we have finally located weapons of mass destruction: It's Dick Cheney." --David Letterman, on Cheney's shooting accident "But here is the sad part -- before the trip Donald Rumsfeld had denied the guy's request for body armor." --David Letterman "We can't get bin Laden, but we nailed a 78-year-old attorney." --David Letterman "The guy who got gunned down, he is a Republican lawyer and a big Republican donor and fortunately the buck shot was deflected by wads of laundered cash. So he's fine. He took a little in the wallet." --David Letterman "Vice President Dick Cheney accidentally shot a man during a quail hunt ... making 78-year-old Harry Whittington the first person shot by a sitting veep since Alexander Hamilton. Hamilton, of course, (was) shot in a duel with Aaron Burr over issues of honor, integrity and political maneuvering. Whittington? Mistaken for a bird." --Jon Stewart "Now, this story certainly has its humorous aspects. ... But it also raises a serious issue, one which I feel very strongly about. ... moms, dads, if you're watching right now, I can't emphasize this enough: Do not let your kids go on hunting trips with the vice president. I don't care what kind of lucrative contracts they're trying to land, or energy regulations they're trying to get lifted -- it's just not worth it." --Jon Stewart "The Vice President is standing by his decision to shoot Harry Whittington. Now, according to the best intelligence available, there were quail hidden in the brush. Everyone believed at the time there were quail in the brush. And while the quail turned out to be a 78- year-old man, even knowing that today, Mr. Cheney insists he still would have shot Mr. Whittington in the face. He believes the world is a better place for his spreading buckshot throughout the entire region of Mr. Wittington's face." --"Daily Show" correspondent Rob Corddry "Dick Cheney accidentally shot a fellow hunter, a 78-year-old lawyer. In fact, when people found out he shot a lawyer, his popularity is now at 92 percent." --Jay Leno "Cheney's defense is that he was aiming at a quail when he shot the guy. Which means that Cheney now has the worst aim of anyone in the White House since Bill Clinton." --Jay Leno "I think Cheney is starting to lose it. After he shot the guy he screamed, 'Anyone else want to call domestic wire tapping illegal?'" --Jay Leno "When the ambulance got there, out of force of habit they put Cheney on the stretcher. No, the other guy!" --Jay Leno "Dick Cheney is capitalizing on this for Valentine's Day. It's the new Dick Cheney cologne. It's called Duck!" --Jay Leno "He is a lawyer and he got shot in the face. But he's a lawyer, he can use his other face. He'll be all right." --Craig Ferguson "You can understand why this lawyer fellow let his guard down, because if you're out hunting with a politician, you think, 'If I'm going to get it, it's going to be in the back.'" --Craig Ferguson "The big scandal apparently is that they didn't release the news for 18 hours. I don't think that's a scandal at all. I'm quite pleased about that. Finally there's a secret the vice president's office can keep." --Craig Ferguson "Apparently the reason they didn't release the information right away is they said we had to get the facts right. That's never stopped them in the past." --Craig Ferguson "You know what they say, if Dick Cheney comes out of his hole and shoots an old man in the face, six more weeks of winter." --Jimmy Kimmel "The Vice President says that it was an accident. He claims the guy got in his line of fire, but the good news was he was delicious. Eat what you shoot!" --Jimmy Kimmel "This is a great story. You've got the Vice President, a shotgun, a bunch of rich guys hunting tiny little birds. The only thing that could possibly make this story better is if he shot Michael Jackson." --Jimmy Kimmel "The man who was shot is named Harry Whittington. He's a high powered Republican lawyer, he was very lucky. They say the only reason that he wasn't killed is he was wearing the body armor that never got shipped to our troops." --Jimmy Kimmel "But all kidding aside, and in fairness to Dick Cheney, every five years he has to shed innocent blood or he violates his deal with the devil." --Jimmy Kimmel "So in summary, the Vice President of the United States shot a 78-year-old man in the face. Congratulations Mister Vice President, you are now a Crip." --Jimmy Kimmel "According to the Washington Post, Vice President Dick Cheney is limping today because he injured his foot. Cheney said 'If you think my foot looks bad, you should see the old lady I was kicking.'" --Conan O'Brien
  6. If the guy Cheney shot in the face were to die (a big if, but it is possible) if this accident were to happen in NY Cheney could have arguably been charged with criminally negligent homicide. I am going on my memory from studying for the bar exam many moons ago, but I believe the definition is where one causes the death of another due to the failure to perceive a substantial and unjustifiable risk of death.
  7. did you vote 8 times in the poll?
  8. Italian (i think) Music Video Look at the video in the top right corner. This video is just awful! It looks like one of the first videos produced in 1984.
  9. exactly, the irony of Bush Jr's VP hunting Quail. Did Quail finally shed his reputation for being "dumb" and outsmart our current VP?
  10. That was simply strange - i never thought construction tools could be sexy.
  11. You mean the one-week Reagan love-in where Delay spoke of using Reagan's legacy to demean democrats? Look, the difference between Reagan and Nixon is that King was an activist who fought against power and oppression - speech and speaking truth to power was her life. Her life was political. Also, look to MLK's funeral as well. The president of Moorehouse College delivered a very political eulogy. Also consider that southern black churches were where the civil rights movement was born. I can't believe people expect some of the founders of the civil rights movement to show the president deferential respect when he is in thier house of worship as though he were some kind of king (obviously no pun intendend). This is the same president who had the Katrina debacle happen under his watch; never attended a NAACP conference; rarely will meet with the COngressional Black Caucus; and is against affirmative action; and has otherwise adversely affected everything the civil rights movement has stood for. What is wrong is that people are surprised by the reception he got!
  12. Coretta King's life was political! The funeral was true to who she was. You can bet that if she were able to speak at her own funeral she would have said a hell of a lot more than was said. It would have been dishonest not to have spoken out, especially considering the fact that the president was there. Social justice is a spiritual concept and speaking truth in the face of oppression and injustice is a spiritual practice. All i get from comments from those who were "offended" by the remarks is that you don't agree with King's politics.
  13. My league is converting to a keeper league. For those who are in a keeper league, what are the rules? Here are the proposed rules for my league: You can keep up to three players each year. You can not keep anyone who has a value of second round pick or higher. When you keep a player, their value appreciates two rounds. For example, say you drafted RB Steven Jackson in the 8th round in his rookie year. If you keep him he will count as your 6th round pick the next year. The logic is to place a value on strategic drafting while keeping stud players in the draft rotation (can't keep RB ALexander).
  14. and peters is . . . ?
  15. Boulton didn't want anything to do with Peters. It was hysterical when Peters waved off the officials when he was trying to get him.
  16. Take the Burger King! He is a sure blue-chipper. However, Grimmise is a great sleeper pick.
  17. Please, answer one question: Why the F*&^ would S.D. trade up to take Bush?
  18. In am a Syracuse Alum as is my wife. Syracuse has the Maxwell School which is one of the most highly regarded schools in the area of political science and international relations, on par with the Kennedy School. My wife majored in international relations and had a fantastic experience. SU also has one of the best study abroad programs in the country.
  19. Call me a homer, but if Vanek is ever placed on the right line I think he could be a super star as well (maybe not quite Ovechkin or Crosby level, but just under that).
  20. holy crap! I have seen him play a few times but that was great!
  21. Your right, he is terrible! If he is there and we don't draft him I am going to start calling old-folks homes in the WNY area to see if they have two beds available and whether they take care of senial patients.
  22. I agree, as my signature points out. That would be very cool I think. Maybe it doesn't have to be as grandeois as a Matrix-like virtual reality. Rather, mybe it is group Hypnosis. THe last episode will be the group sitting in a circle waking up.
  23. That would be cool as hell! I get the "moses" imagery with Aaron - but how about the burning bush? (not Kate).
