  1. Why didnt they at least interview the Cincinnati Coordinators (Zimmer and Gruden) and Bruce Arians of the Colts before making this decision?
  2. Can some of you please rationally explain to me why you wanted Lovie Smith as coach? In him I see Jauron Part Duex. Why did so many people want him as coach? I also read that a poll said some 40% wanted him as coach.
  3. Cleveland is an up and coming team. They lost alot of close one score games where they had the chance to take the lead. A play here/there they c easily have ended up 10-6. They have a strong defense core. They are set at Rzb and one Wzr slot. Weeden played well for a rookie. In KC they have strong WR/TE/RB set and thy have a strong defense. The big issue is at QB. This is why I expect KC to be big players in the Matt Flynn/Alex smith trade rumors. And then draft a qb in 2ndor 3rd. Look at defense rankings......They had a strong defense. They have Charles and another player for a strong RB duo. Then they have WR bowe. The issue was with QB.
  4. The big difference with football nd baseball....is baseball is more an individual driven sport because a batter is up aginst a pitcher....the only comparison to this natives would be CBs on Wzr in man free overage. In football it's about everyone doing their responsibility for a play to work. There are numerous examples of players who excell with one team but fail hen changing teams.. Some of a players success can be attributed to surrounding players. When looking at game tape you can't analyze mistakes by players unless you knew whT the play call was. You see a CB let a receiver go past him thinking he has safety help but there is none..thus a long pass ply....who is at fault? You can't measure that. A guard fails to pull to make a blok...why....is it because of his slowness or was there a mistake by another OZl that preventing him pulling by blocking his path. A RB doesn't pick up a blitz thinking the TE on that side is supposed to stay in and block before he releases thus picking up any blitzes. Who is a fault? I could go on....play mistakes are judgement calls...there is too much subjective gray area for good analytics to be done Also you have more situations occur so results are more statistically significant in analysis. For example you can look at a batter facing righties or lefties...or hitter tendencies with 2 strikes. Over a career you can look at hitter vs pitcher numbers and see who has had unusual success or failure. This type of data isn't as robust given player shorter careers and some players only face each other once ever in there careers if st that. It's also system and style driven....under Shanahans system he can find good RB cheap and they excel because of his system. The RB style needs to match the team running style. Cedric benson is an example of a RZb who was a bust then turned very good after changing teams. An example is Herschel walker trade....he was a bust in part because his running style didn't match the running style on his new team.
  5. I still feel they need to draft a qb but there is nothing I would touch at #8. I see a qb picked in 2nd or 3rd unless they trade down. But if you acquire a veteran then the pressure is on a first to step in and play. There is quite a few qbs who have 2nd round grades but not many high 1st.
  6. Would you want him as buffalo QB? Its possible that in San Diego they want to just gut the aging team and rebuild everything. Rivers would be a marketable asset they trade.
  7. The issue with many name coaches is that they would like to go to a team with an established QB ...San Diego and Chicago have them. Philadelphia doesnt but they have a well established offense with 2 WRs and RB set. Others have said KC is an ideal job for the same reason. Their hole is at QB. Their defense was top 5 this past season Assuming they keep their guys they are set at WRs and RB. Cleveland was a weird situation....new owner came on board and so he wants his guys. Cleveland has talent. Arizona.....you have a strong defense but holes at QB, RB, and 2nd WR spot. With Buffalo.....assuming they keep Levitre and Byrd....their "holes" are going to be who will be a #2 deep threat and the need to establish a future QB in waiting. With Defense the issue is in LBs that need to be addressed through UFA/draft. the other issue in Buffalo is having to play in the same division as New England.
  8. Horton is different....the defense was very good in Arizona. the problems in Arizona were with the offense due to RB injuries and QB flux. Also Horton has been around the league and worked is way up. dont forget Horton also allows Buffalo to satisfy the Rooney rule.
  9. Buffalo is assured of finishing ahead of Browns and Cardinals if they all lose because of tie breaker being strength of schedule. If bills lose they are certain of 6th.... If the lose and either eagles or Lions lose they are certain to go to 5 If both lose they go to 4th.
  10. Gor me....went over to Ft Erie. My friends now ex wife knew and owner of a bar over there. A bunch of us went over there. I remember I believed a comeback was possible. From my experience, and it isnt just in football....if a team was able to put up x pts in y minutes, your team could too.
  11. They play NFC SOUTH and AFC NORTH plus placement games. at NEW Orleans, at Tampa Bay, Atlanta, Carolina at Pittsburgh, at Cleveland, Cincinnati, Baltimore AFC West :Kansas City at AFC SOUTH at Jacksonvile
  12. Many national press think CJ is the top AFC RB this year. He can set the modern NFL record for yard per carry for someone who has rushed for 1,000+ yards. Levitre should be there Byrd has a chance..likely alternate.
  13. Wallace is out...not worth the price tag he wants. Buffalo has proven it has the inability to throw deep balls which is what Wallace only does. Welker doesnt solve the problem of speed and deep threat. I would just go after Fitzgerald.... take a shot in UFAs...I wouldnt draft a WR in 1st or 2nd.
  14. This iffense scheme doesnt benefit the TE.....Bills arent an attractive spot for any UFAs of note. You can draft a decent TE later in the draft. for receiving optiond Dickerson can serve the role at TE.
  15. For comparison spiller is very similar to sanders in size and style and the breakaway play. Spiller is much better than sanders as a receiver.
  16. early projected playoff matchups..... NFC #6 Minnesota et all at #3 NFC West/GB #5 SEA/SF at #4 NFC EAST #1 Atlanta #2 GB/SF/SEA SEA earns bye by winning, SF losing and GB losing...head to head win gives seattle the bye. AFC #6 Cincinati at #3 BALT/NE/HOU/DEN #5 Indianpolis at # 4 BALT/NE #1 HOU/DEN/NE #2 HOU/DEN/NE HOU/DEN/NE scenarios: W/W/W HOU DEN NE W/W/L HOU DEN NE (*) W/L./W HOU NE DEN W/L/L HOU DEN NE (*) L/W/W DEN NE HOU L/W/L DEN HOU NE (*) L/L/W NE HOU DEN L/L/L HOU DEN NE (*) (*) If BALT wins then they get #3 seed and NE is #4 seed.
  17. yes If JETS win and MIA lose.....tied at 7-9...tiebreaker to Jets based on divisional record. Bills cant catch the Jets If BILLS beat the JETS.... tied at 6-10....divisional record tied at 2-4....common games record the Jets would be 6-8, buffalo 4-10...so Jets in 3rd place. Bills in 4th.
  18. An add on for opponents scheduling.....the only placements to be decided are: AFC Jets win, MIA lose..JETS in 2nd. BUF clinched 4th place. NFC: Giants in 2nd or 3rd DAL in 1st/2nd, or 3rd WAS in 1sst or 2nd MIN & CHI in 2nd or 3rd SEA/SF in 1st or 2nd NO 2nd/3rd CAR 2nd/3rd/4th TB 3rd/4th --IF CAR beat NO they end up in 2nd place due to H2H sweep. 2013 opponents: http://www.johnnyroadtrip.com/schedules/nflopponents.htm
  19. If Tempo was closed today...couldnt it have been last night...oh wait he was in Detroit doing a game. Is this possible.....sure.....Gruden is done for the season now.
  20. As of now the order is: 1. KC 2 122 2. JAX 2 129 3. OAK 4 112 4. PHL 4 122 5. DET 4 137 6. BUF 5 117 7. CLE 5 120 8. TEN 5 123 9. AZ 5 135 10.SD 6 110 11. JETS 6 121 12. TB 6 121.5 13. CAR 6 124 These numbers are taking into account next weeks opponents. The only things that will change order will be the indivivual teams game played and their non common opponents games. The games against their other division foes and the two divisions they played wash out. the other within division will adds 2pts, the division within conference will add 2 pts, interconference division add 2 pts. everyone will increase by: With BUF and CLE since they finished in the same position last year...BUF noncommons are CLE and KC, CLE noncommon are BUF and INDY....thus CLE can not pass BUF in draft order. THE best CLE can do is gain 1 pt on BUF. 6+ (their own game results L=1, W=0) + their noncommon opponent A win (W=1)+ their noncommon opponent B win (win =1) Thus a difference of more than 3 can not be made up if both teams lost... for example if BUF and TEN both lost TEN cannot pass Buffalo because the difference is 6. Similarly if BUlost and OAK won they cant pass OAK....difference too great. For #4 BUF loses, DET and PHL both win. For #5 BUF loses and either DET or PHL lose. IF BUF were to win the lowest possible they can go is #10 ...The Jets cant get ahead of them.
  21. AFC Houston win for home field #1 seed Denver win and Houston loss then they get #1 seed New England...they win and DEN and HOU lose then they are #1, and HOU #2. Baltimore win plus New England loss makes BALt #3 and NE #4. Wild cards are locked in at #5 IND and #6 CIN. IND has tiebreaker with common games if they were tied at 10-6. NFC Atlanta has wrapped up home field Green Bay wins they get #2 San Fran needs to win and Green Bay lose to get #2. Dallas-Washington game winner gets division title. If Seattle wins and SF loses then Seattle wins the division. Wild Card Seattle has clinched one wild card....and the #5 seed at least. Minnesota wins they clinch WC Chicago wins and MIN loses they clinch WC Giants win, DAL lose, CHI lose, and MIN lose to clinch WC If WAS loses to DAL---they clinch at least a WC if CHI and MIN lose (H2H or conf record). DAL is eliminated with a loss. MIN gets WC if GIANTS, DAL, and CHI lose
  22. For wild card in NFC Seattle win one they earn a spot Minnesota win next week they get wild card Chicago win and Minnesota lose to get wild card Cowboys -redskins...winner gets division, Washington loss they still have wild card shot. Giants win and 3 of the 4: Dallas, Chicago, Minnesota lose, Seattle lose 2
  23. I can see the 61 yd run have him go out for a breather.....
  24. Also how the schedule will be set up next week.... Bears and Vikings should be at the same time. If Seattle beats the 49ers they need to be at the same time. Cincinati-baltimore and Indy-houston will be at the same time with KC-Denver. Because of seeding with wild card teams and division winners.
