  1. Behind Leo, Graham, Gilmore and Robey? He's depth. He didn't replace any DB's.
  2. Because it's not every day your GM admits to the media that this team has little chance of finding a good QB, including the ones on the roster.
  3. Darby was not expected to contribute immediately. He still may not. You're using hindsight. If Freddy and McCoy both get hurt, does that make Karlos not a luxury pick? I don't either. He may be pretty good and a CB that will contribute.
  4. EJ had a top 10 defense. Carr had the second worst? EJ had Freddy and Spiller. Can you even name Carr's RB, after MJD exploded? Darby was a luxury and depth pick. Same with Karlos. Some great STer RB buried on the depth chart isn't getting this team a Superbowl. Miller I'll concede, because we actually had a hole there. Everything else was a luxury. Also, last draft was a better QB draft than EJ's year.
  5. Gamblers fallacy-- your chances of acquiring a franchise QB do not, in fact, increase with every QB you take, as each pick is independent of the one prior. Yes it does. Because you can't win if you don't gamble. Your chance of hitting heads doesn't increase if you get two coin flips, but you still have the possibility of getting heads if your first flip is tails. The answer is simply not "hey, let's draft as many Quarterbacks as we can, maybe one will stick." Has anyone said it was that simple? Or said "as many as we can?" What IS the answer is solid scouting, and building a proper environment for a young QB to step into. Believe it or not, there are other positions that have to be addressed on an NFL team.. I do realize that the QB is the most important piece. Great, we're there. All our QB's suck. Where's the QB who's gonna step into here? Wait 2-3 years for another project? Pray tell, how was Carr's rookie season any better than EJ's? I will give you Bridgewater-- I was also of the opinion that the Bills should have traded up to take him but NOT because I felt that taking another QB would increase our chances of hitting. It's quite possible that Bridgewater could regress, or he could take the next step. Tough to say after one year. Carr played on the worst team in the NFL and had stats equal or better to EJ's rookie year. Teddy could regress, sure. But that's better than having a QB who already stinks.
  6. Matt Cassel? Thank god for our QB of the future. What hole did Karlos Williams fill? Or Dezmin whatever? Or Jonathan Meeks? etc etc. 2 > 1, or so they say.
  7. Clearly. That's what I'm saying. It doesn't work 90% of the time, but it works infinitely better than nothing.
  8. They doubled down the next year, by not getting anymore QB's. It's strange that no one sees this. The only way to ensure you don't hit on the QB lottery is to not play. Lolwut. Both those guys are worth infinitely more than EJ Manuel right now. True. I was more making a point about how just because you tied up assets the year prior, you shouldn't let that factor into your decision. It's how you end up with Tyrod, Cassel and EJ simultaneously losing a QB competition. Other teams without franchise QB's do take fliers on mid to late round draft picks. Glennon, Savage, Petty, Wilson etc. Why not do that? Is some 4th string RB really worth the 2%+ chance of finding a franchise guy?
  9. Carr's rookie year was better than EJ's, but let's say they're equal for argument's sake. I would've given up our second and maybe our 5th and 6th? And our 7th? That'd probably be okay. Tyrod is a 5th year player. He isn't getting better with a year on the bench learning and developing. A rookie would be. But why does their have to be a choice between the two? The roster spot would've been Tuel's/Matt Simms', not Tyrod's. They were many prospects far and away better than Simms.
  10. Who cares? No one has done it so don't bother? EJ was a glorified second rounder anyway, just because he went high in a weak draft doesn't mean we should double down on him. That's the opposite of what you should do. Do you think the Panthers said, "Cam's there, but we drafted Jimmy Clausen reasonably high last year and I don't wanna use two high picks on QB's?" Clearly not. When it's the most important position in the game, maybe it's time to change up our risk assessment team.
  11. Carr, Bridgewater, or Manziel all went past #20. Obviously, 2 of those picks would've been pretty good right now. Because they had an injury-prone QB who hadn't taken over the team yet? And because putting all your eggs in a 3 year project's basket may blow up in your face? Like it did? And if that wasn't feasible (even though it totally was), take a mid round guy this year. That way, when we get to camp and everyone starts to suck, at least there's some hope the rookie kid figures it out with a year on the bench. Now we'll draft another project next year, and he'll have the same career trajectory as EJ. Fun.
  12. Not only that, but he doesn't even want to play football anymore. He's like a self-aware Orton.
  13. Exclusive stats from their first year?
  14. Are you playing the long con after that August-April mishap?
  15. Find the worst prison movie.
  16. Find a movie Keanu Reeves was good in.
  17. Well then, aren't we screwed? Because they were/are. At this point.
  18. I'm the guy who wants the best players playng.
  19. There is a lot of time left. Cassel's got plenty of time to pull away.
  20. I believe you said, multiple times, something along the lines of "if Roman (a successful NFL OC) doesn't think EJ will be successful/be the starter, it'll be time to close the book. But I won't believe in what Jacksonville coaches think about him." I could find the posts if you'd like.
  21. The context of the conversation was Kirby's assertion that if the season started tomorrow, Cassel would probably be the starter.
  22. Who woulda thought Roman would start getting questioned once it started looking like a real possibility EJ didn't win the job? And so the wheel turns.
