  1. So explain to me why Russia is any less "justified" to invade Georgia than the US to invade Iraq? Depends on which side of the border you're on I suppose.
  2. 1) Didn't say I didn't believe it. Don't believe supermarket tabloids. But here's an interesting question, if Edwards' denial in supermarket tabloids are not believable because he's a liar, then how can you believe him now? Personally I have the same reaction as I did about all the others (Hyde, GHWB, JFK, Bubba, Napoleon, Henry VIII etc - that's between them and their spouse, they're pigs but it impacts me not at all). 2) I am not hysterical at military crossing a border. I didn't start that thread. I couldn't give a rat's ass. I am really not afraid of either Mexico or Canada. You want to go check the thread again and kick yourself for thinking that I would actually be anything but mocking those people who are spazzing over it. Our police have done plenty of crossing into Mexico...don't know about the military, but US police are pretty darned well trained, equipped and no doubt intimidating and I'd imagine to Mexico it's upsetting whether they're state, local, or federal.
  3. Soooo if you all can tear yourselves away from your supermarket tabloids, its seems Russia has invaded Georgia. What? No word about the Red Menace? Or are you all too busy watching the Yellow Peril on the tee vee?
  4. Howya doing baldy?! He's still getting under your skin eh? Ah I love all you wingnuts. You're so bitter. You are never so happy as when you see someone pilloried. As Edwards has admitted his affair, I will originally go on record as condemning his behaviour. I feel extremely sorry for his wife, just like I feel sorry for anyone who has been betrayed. Even the REPUBLICAN spouses of REPUBLICANS. I'm not going to defend him. But I am not a stupid moron who reads supermarket tabloids, like you obviously do. Did you see the one where Michelle Obama is really from Mars and gave birth to a three-headed dog? duh. Sooo go back to your Rogaine, it's probably in some corner of your own personal little cesspool where you like to sit and hate everyone who doesn't think like you or agree with every word you say. Next, let's talk about Marines murdering pregnant women. That's a definite fact. That's sort of really disgusting, killing your pregnant girlfriend who's also a fellow Marine.
  5. You're a wimp - you'll never impress the Bushistas with THAT. You want to break them? Put 'em in front of the 700 Club 24x7x365. They won't last the 365. Or make them listen to "Butterfly Kisses" a few thousand times.
  6. Mexico has a shitload of oil.
  7. You mean the gal whose husband offered her up for the "Miss Cow Patty" contest? No kiddin. He really did. And then he found out it was a topless contest. I bet she was thrilled. Dumbass.
  8. I saw that and it's great news. Given that the economy is so poor now people don't care much about the war, which is bad for our troops. So if we can bring them home and stop pouring money down this seemingly bottomless pit, it would be good all around.
  9. It is very bad when one country's military enters another country. I am outraged.
  10. Vraiment. Is LaDisastaire a reincarnation or a newbie who wandered in only because his (it's gotta be) head was stuck so far up his butt he couldn't see where he was going?
  11. Gee there's a bigot on the board. Quelle surprise. Seriously - anti-Semitism is so passe. These days all the best bigots and hatemongers pick on the Mexicans. Get with the program. Note I said "program" NOT "pogrom".
  12. Oh there are far, far worse than that! PPP has a reputation? Go figure.
  13. Yes but the "logic" was lies and many people knew it. The fact is for a decade no-one in the US gave a rat's ass about Saddam until the Administration out-and-out lied by linking him to 9/11. They preyed on ignorance and hysteria. GHWB took care of putting Saddam out of business. That's why Junior had to ratchet everything up with 9/11. If Saddam was such a serious threat then Junior did his country a great disservice by waiting until AFTER we were attacked to do anything about it, eh? The global warming issue has attracted the attention of leaders from around the world and of all political persuasions. While they don't all agree on the severity of the problem, they agree it's a problem that is better not ignored because it does impact us all. I suppose they could be using ignorance and hysteria to generate a knee-jerk reaction, but they're not. What you see is that people are starting to very slowly take small steps toward improving the way we treat our environment, whether it's recycling, reducing water usage, buying "green", or whatever. The two aren't even close. One situation was concocted. The other is real - how imminent the disaster is, we can't agree upon, but it's real enough.
  14. There were other options besides invading Iraq. The nature of the supposed WMD were known - they'd get as far as Israel and that's about it...maybe to Greece on a good day. Not to the US. So if Saddam did decide, after years of supposedly sitting on those WMDs during sanctions which caused untold suffering in Iraq, to finally use those alleged WMDs, the US would not have suffered. And we could still have incinerated the country from a comfortable distance. Global warming is a little different. It affects...well, you know, like the GLOBE. Like the entire world. Even America. I realize some people around here labor under the misconception that we are somehow better than other people and more deserving good things than the rest of the world, but we're just as vulnerable when it comes to global warming. And maybe more. We have a lot more to lose, and we're a not used to having to worry about survival.
  15. Religion is stupid. Jesus didn't like it either. That was part of His message. It gives comfort to the weak I suppose but it's no substitute for a direct relationship with God.
  16. I got stuck at O'Hare one night - got to the fleabag hotel at 1 am to find out it had FLOODED and the carpet was still wet. Would have made a scene but had to be BACK at the airport by 6 am and I didn't feel like fighting with the front desk. Got stuck in Toronto another time - only slightly better. However good old American Airlines, there was an old lady in a wheelchair on that flight, they canceled it and said "well you can get a hotel voucher and a shuttle, have a nice life" and left this bewildered old thing there, closed the counter and left. I ended up wheeling the poor thing to the shuttle and then getting her back to the flight out the next day. This plane must have been an older one that didn't have the "bathroom in use" indicator light - surely that would have been an indicator that there was a problem...not to mention the pissed off people in line for however long she was in there...but they are supposed to check those bathrooms before they land. And you know it's easy to open them from the outside, you jsut life the little ashtray-looking thingy and slide the latch....
  17. Well then he probably wasn't mentally ill. I don't know why people can't acknowledge the fact that political machinations have managed to convince a lazy, gullible public that it's a do-or-die "them or us" situation in this country. "Divide and conquer" .... duh. Clearly it works. People who probably wouldn't normally consider taking a life find it much simpler when the other side is dehumanized. Hence we have Japs, Gooks, Slopes, Charlie, etc etc etc. Apply a label and a person is not a person. Show me a liberal who doesn't want good schools. Show me a conservative who really thinks war is better than peace. Show me either one who just doesn't want to be safe, secure, warm, dry and fed. We all want the same things - we just disagree on how to obtain and manage them. Disagreement is not a bad thing - often the best ideas come from the juxtaposition of two different points of view. This man was a vicious individual who refused to take personal responsibilty for his failure in life; the hatemongers who he listened to gave him the justification he was looking for to blame someone else. You've got a President who has just about run this country into the ground financially, yet who refuses to accept any responsibility. You've got parents who sue the schools when their kids flunk. And etc. It's not a political issue. It's human weakness run amok.
  18. The play's the thing... But we're probably wasting our time here.
  19. Close enough! Now OUT damned spot!
  20. "Methinks thou dost protest too much" (look it up).
  21. And we could talk about Carol McCain. After her horrific car accident, 23 surgeries, and endless pain, she just wasn't pretty any more. A month after he divorced her, McCain married his trophy wife. Somehow I doubt he met her, wooed her and walked her down that aisle within a few short weeks. It takes longer that that to plan a wedding... Infidelity isn't a political issue, it's a human one. You people want our "leaders" to be perfect? As I recall, the LAST guy who was perfect scared the sh-- out of mankind and ended up being nailed to a cross. If the people running the world are evil fiends, it reflects on the morons who put them in power, and let them remain there. I personally am betting that SDJarhead is bald as a cueball and THAT'S why he's got a problem with Edwards and his hair.
  22. I didn't say he was hot. I said he was handsome. So is the Governator. It's an observation, nothing more. I don't know anything about Edwards marriage or extramarital affairs. I guess banging someone while your wife is ill with cancer is only bad when it's NOT Newt Gingrich doing it, eh?
  23. Where did I say I'd vote for him? Fact is, he's handsome. That's an accident of birth and has little to do with what kind of person he may, or may not be. Some pretty people are damned ugly when you get to know them, and some really homely people are simply beautiful. Since you seem so hung up on his physical beauty perhaps you are jealous? Otherwise why are you harping on it? Or did he steal your girl somewhere along the line? Whatever ... maybe you should get over it and focus on substantial issues. The problem with America today is that people obsess over shirt that has very little to do with what's important.
  24. I think he ran with good intentions, by his lights at least. No-one runs for President with the idea that he's going to be a colassal !@#$-up. It just happens that way for some. No matter how good his intentions may have been, he surrounded himself people who were selected not because they were competent in their area of responsibility, but because they were buddies, or buddies of buddies. Incompetence itself is not an impeachable offense. Neither is being weak and listening to bad advice after being lulled by syncophants into believing you're really in charge of something.
