  1. Calls were taped and played ON THE AIR in DALLAS, right in the heart of Bush country. McCain was LIVID and as a supporter so was I. Bush denied his campaign had anything to do with it - gee what a surprise. And you'd really expect him to OWN UP to that? Are you that naive?
  2. It took me 7 years, at night, while working full time during the day and volunteering as a firefighter and EMT the rest of the time. I was an honor student. I was also lieutenant, chairman of the by-laws committee, secretary and delegate to FASNY and county organizations. I did do my Masters in only two years. And I had an austistic son. I took him to speech therapy, PT, soccer, football and the emergency room when he needed it. Elect ME.
  3. You proved me right. Thanks! (Like shooting fish in a barrel). I never said insignificant. And I never said doesn't matter. I would agree that as observers, five years of hell is worse than 5 minutes. But I defy you to endure 5 minutes of torture and then not hate the person who did it to you. Which was my point. Given the knee-jerk attack to words you didn't like, I can't imagine you turning the other cheek to a cattle prod up your...well, never mind. Pun intended. Thanks again.
  4. It was well documented at the time. And it's why I won't support McCain. I don't give a rat's ass about the child - but to LET Bush's campaign do that to his family and then kowtow to the party for 8 years ... that's not maverick. That's a slave to party politics. McCain would have been my choice for President in 2000. Had 9/11 even happened, he'd have blasted the sh-- out of Afganistan and probably invaded Pakistan to get bin Laden, if need be. Now? I don't know. I don't think he's stable. This is just unfinished business for him.
  5. I would have voted for him in 2000. But after the way the GOP treated him, and he sucked it up and stayed wtih them as a yes-man, forget it. Either he never WAS a maverick, or they just beat it out of him.
  6. No my point is that the Bush campaign attacked McCain through this child, implying to voters that this child was actually an illegimate child of McCain and an African-American woman. And I only talk this way to this board, where I really don't give a dang what you all think of me. I lurked and read vicious posts for months before I joined and I have been pilloried many times for expressing my views. So the foils are off.
  7. Yup, ironically written by a guy better known for his band "Big n Rich". So it's only natural he'd gravitate to the GOPigs
  8. I wonder what term would be appropriate for the personnel who tortured prisoners at Gitmo and Abu Graib? And if there was a term for those people, would it not be insulting to ALL military personal, 99% of whom are honest and law-abiding, to use that term? Inquiring minds want to know. Oh I am sure we will now hear a wingnut argument about the DEGREE of torture, including the length, amount of pain, etc. But if you are the torturee, it's ALL bad.
  9. Those are all the names (except Repig) that have been thrown at me by you wingnuts over the years..seems to be the way you like to be talked to, or so I thought. I keep forgetting that wingnuts can dish it out but they can't take it. So do you, or do you not, remember the "Black Child" campaign tactic of 2000, where the GOPigs firmly established the "no child left unattacked" methodology of political campaigning?
  10. Actually, and seriously, it all depends on how you define "race". I always learned that it's based on genetics. Hence "races" are Caucasian, Mongoloid, Negroid ... and one more, but I can't remember. Plus Jewish apparently because of genetic traits unique to them (which I was surprised to learn). More recently people talk about "race" more generically, just lumping groups of people together by nationality or trait such as languages (eg Hispanic). Hispanic is not a race. So you can go argue with scientists but the more proper thing for this argument would be to say that Biden is a bigot, not a racist, because Indian is not a race.
  11. Not picking on the children, moron. Are you that stupid? Or just another Repig hypocrite? I was seriously wondering if McCain's pandering extends to hiding the child. You know, the child that Bush called out in 2000 during the primary when voters were asked by outbound Bush telemarketers whether they'd vote for McCain if they knew he had a "black" child?
  12. You know who seems conspicuously absent in the McCain/Palin fambly photos is that brown child McCain adopted that cost him the Deep South vote in 2000. Anyone seen her?
  13. IF hypocrisy was an Olympic sport, the Repigs would hold many, many world records. The funny thing, as my Libertarian husband has stated more than once as he enjoys the trainwreck, is that these moron Repigs just don't seem to understand that with the Internet, you just can't get away with much any more. Anything you say, do or write is just a few clicks away.
  14. So if Vietnamese is a race, does that mean the Cambodian, Thai, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Laotians, Malaysians etc are also separate races? How many freaking RACES are there?! And does that mean Pakastani is a race? Or are Pakastanis actually Indians? Where does that put Inuits?
  15. That at least proves Biden is smarter than many Americans who after 9/11 went to Quickie Marts and took shots at Sikhs and Hindus....meaning Biden knows there is a DIFFERENCE. :-) PS: Is "Indian" a race? I thought it was a nationality? Does that mean I can't talk about all the nail salons in America being run by Vietnamese?
  16. Comedy Central had some great stuff on the convention...Jon Stewart cracks me up. All those poor, scared white faces TRAPPED in the stadium during Hurricane Gustave, suffering terribly. I laughed so hard I cried.
  17. You can have them all. Hey, you had Pierre Trudeau....
  18. She stood on the stage and trotted out her entire family to show the "pro-lifers" what a great human being she was (now I know why the teenager was holding the baby and a big towel over her midsection)....She started the conversation on her family, proferring them as proof of her values and qualifications. That said, I am not judging her on a pregnant daughter. And likewise I am not judging her on a Downs baby. I had an austic, diabetic child with Cerebral Palsy. That doesn't make me noble. And lastly - it's only the mental morons who are dogging the daughter. Most people understand that stuff can happen. They're objecting to the hypocrisy of the parent and the political party. You can't make an "offer of proof" that doesn't stand up in the court of public opinion and then cry foul when the truth is revealed. The kid is off limits, but the parent is NOT.
  19. I don't think isolation is possible any more. Maybe for aboriginal societies.
  20. You of all people know that having the ability to do something is NOT the same as having the EXPERIENCE. How many times has she had to call out the guard for a critical mission? When Hurricane Melvin threatened Scagway? When was the last time Canada invaded Alaska? Has she had to use the National Guard as a threat to get the Russians to remove their nuke-you-lar missiles from the Pribilofs? Having the power, which is part of the job, does NOT mean having the experience and USING it. Duh.
  21. ha - to you men, that entitles him to the appellation "stud".
  22. I wonder if her Spanish is as good?
  23. Most women who supported Hillary did not not simply because she was a woman but because they agreed with her position on issues. To think they're gonna switch to the Repigs simply because they have a female on the ticket is insulting. Typical of Repig arrogance to make the assumption that would happen.
  24. It speaks volumes about those wackos that she was the best they could come up with. Huckabee would have been a better choice.
