  1. Which is why it was so hilarious to see the wingnuts freaking out over the Sarah Palin spoofs claiming SNL is own by the liberal media.
  2. It was men and women, responding to a + or - on a scale depending on the answer. You could see in real time the approval going up, down, or flat with each candidates' response.
  3. Well wouldn't that have been great for me, if only I lived in Roch.
  4. Trust yes, but don't forget confidence too. The clear signal being sent is that people do not trust their government to right the ship. Given the actions of the AIG representatives...I'm not surprised no-one has any confidence. Those people need to be tarred, feathered and ridden right down Main Street on a rail.
  5. He was appealing to the dumb bigots who Palin whipped up into a frenzy with her "Obama is a terrorist" bull sh-- to the point where one of them allegedly screamed "kill him!".
  6. Speaking of how stupid it is to think Obama is a terrorist ... I realized this morning that based on the wingnut !@#$ed-up logic ("they were in the same room and they talked and the alleged [former] evildoer helped t the promising young politician, so the latter is a terrorist..."), I am in all likelihood a murderer. I didn't actually kill anyone, but a guy from my hometown did. He served a number of years in Attica and was paroled. I was in a bar one night and...I spoke to him. Yup, absolutely I did. In front of witnesses. (As far as I know, he's stayed out of trouble since.) I didn't know him when the crime took place, only met him after he'd served his time and finished parole. My only real thought about the conversation afterwards was to wonder how he could cope with the guilt which he said he felt. Now, thanks to the enlightened souls on PPP, I now know that there is NEVER any forgiveness and that ANYONE who treats as human ANYONE who might EVER had done ANYTHING wrong is, by association JUST AS GUILTY. So I guess you need to be afraid of me - cause you never know when one of us murdering murderers may take it into our heads to kill again.
  7. Any chance you'd be honest enough to admit that fat stupid white guys are voting for McCain because Obama's black? !@#$.
  8. I met a couple of ladies from Virginia over the weekend. One of them is a flight attendant and spends a lot of time in Europe, and the other had just returned from an extensive visit. They stated that everyone they talked to is looking to this election to decide whether to write America off. We lost a lot of credibility for putting up with two terms of Bush, but to them the failure to elect Obama will be attributable solely to his race (he's white...but looks sorta black...anyway....). What's also interesting is that until McCain selected Palin, it might not have been so cut-and-dried, but to the rest of the world the GOP ticket is a joke and for America to elect another joke would be...a joke. Not a scientific poll - just some data points relayed by two (formerly Republican) women of moderate beliefs. Of course I was in Europe not long after Bush got selected and they thought he was an incompetent nitwit too ... turns out they were right.
  9. I Tivo'd the debate and watched most of it last night. Since the town hall is McCain's supposed strength I was looking forward to seeing and hearing it, also seeing how Obama held up considering the format is not supposed to be his best. I made the mistake of recording the CNN version, but I wanted hi-def ... those stupid score-keeping things on the side are ridiculous. However I did find the undecided voter reaction at the bottom somewhat interesting. McCain may have scored a few points - not many - but as the evening progressed he started to come across more and more like a bitter, somewhat doddering old man. It's obvious he would like to dance on Obama's grave.
  10. Term limits and line-item vetoes could solve a number of problems.
  11. Only because Bush didn't crash any planes and McCain crashed five.
  12. It's "moron" not dick. Please get it straight.
  13. I personally saw Obama on a street corner, in a turban (Michele was the obligatory 10 paces behind him in a burka), getting ready to throw a Molotov cocktail.
  14. Hey, he's a former POW war hero. You must hate freedom or something. Bet you consort with terrorists and baby killers.
  15. You DO understand why that's in quotation marks right? You DO know which genius made that statement, right?
  16. GOP is using the "terror" card because it was so effective in controlling people early on. Thing is, it gets old real fast. You can't stay scared forever. And with the recent economic developments people are starting to realize there's something worse than a terror attack. Yes, it's horrible that 3000 people were killed in 2001. We will never get over it. But the reality of "putting food on your family" or potentially losing your home and life's savings....well, THAT is true terror to many people, at THIS POINT IN TIME. America has had enough BAD over the last 8 years ... some of which is attributable to GWB, some not. But it has just about reached the breaking point, and I can see that people have had it with negativity. Keep it up McCain.
  17. Uh, it wasn't my plan. And, who said $10k? Back in the 1990's my 401K allowed up to $45k loan or more for a primary residence...in WNY where real estate is cheap. And I wasn't endorsing it. I just didn't shoot it down. It's an interesting concept but I personally wouldn't consider it in my circumstances. Unlike you though I don't feel the need to decree that it's bad idea just because it doesn't work for me.
  18. Most 401k's can already be tapped without penalty for this purpose, up to a certain amount anyway, but it has to be repaid. I see the point of "investing in yourself" and it's an interesting thought. However knowing people, if they had the money in their 401k and realized they could get at it without penalty, it wouldn't be long before people would start flipping houses ... almost "laddering them"....ending up with huge mortgages and no 401k. Kind of like where we are now. It's really a cultural thing to contend with on the human side, and on the lenders' part they have to realize that lending to greedy people who can't afford it is bad for their bottom line. Unfortunately the precedent set last week gives them 700 billion reasons to think otherwise....
  19. Where you are? I can only imagine. Let me guess: is it where your favorite aunt's name is "mom"? Or is it where all you have to wear is an orange suit and rubber thongs (don't drop the soap in the showers)? Or perhaps where the walls are nicely padded?
  20. Oh and I am not surprised at these findings. They are why I, a 2000 McCain supporter, am strongly anti-McCain in 2008.
  21. Anyone see Non Sequitur today (10/6)? Pretty funny. Storefront with "Incumbents" labeled on the window and a sandwich sign outside saying "Want Change, Vote for Us!" ... and a couple of citizens saying something like "This is just how stupid they think we are"... Loses something in the translation, maybe it's in your local paper or on Wiley's site...
  22. Hmm I guess when they loaded the pork onto the bailout bill they forgot to add "confidence". They still don't get the "perception is reality" concept. People are just pessimistic, period. They don't trust the government, they don't hope for a better future, they feel powerless. And it shows.
  23. The Bills were definitely outcoached...and outplayed on the defensive side. I couldn't believe the stupid play calling...don't they realize how much Kurt Warner fumbles? BLITZ! But if we had to lose one, this was a good one to lose. Plus it's a good wake-up call. Let's see how they rebound.
  24. Palin has released her tax returns. They make for interesting reading.
  25. He doesn't believe this for a minute. He's just trying to scare the wingnuts into action.
