I have not attended a minute of camp but - From what i can tell - salas and little are very similar. Big dudes but they don't offer a ton. They're available for a reason. But reliability is pretty good - I'd rather have guys out there who can catch vs. otherwise. But do you need 2 more of them? People already complain that Woods is just a guy. Now we'd go 3 deep with receivers who are just guys.
Powell seems to offer some teams ability - at least returning. Had a good preseason game too - i know Rex appreciates guys who show up for games.
I know nothing about dez lewis, but i can't imagine we're keeping him and listenbee.
Easley isn't healthy - and is primarily teams. We added anderson/blanton for that. So i don't see him making it. But maybe he'll start the year on PUP, with possibly listenbee.
My only thing is: I haven't been at camp. I can't make a knowledgeable decision based on 10 snaps in a preseason game. He's 3rd on the depth chart right now, so i imagine he's having a good camp. But his injury history is something that makes you think twice about relying on him for a full season. Nobody else on that list besides the top 2 has earned a thing - so they need to beat him out for the job. Apparently they are failing.
I don't know a lot about Little but my understanding is that Salas is more of a slot receiver where as Little can line up more outside.
This team doesn't throw enough to require stars at WR. Just be reliable. As long as these guys are smart, run solid routes and are sure-handed, they can contribute to a productive offense.
Dez Lewis is a physically-imposing specimen and is just beginning to come into his own. My guess is that Listenbee misses the season. Call it a redshirt. Easley is too highly-regarded as a gunner to be released but I don't know about the severity of his injury.

I only call it as I see it with Rex...if the student hasn't learned the teacher has not taught.... going from a top 3 D to near bottom is Rex's responsibility.
he is responsible.....for the system and the players....if Mario Williams didn't or couldn't learn the system Rex is responsible for either teaching it better or putting his a?? in the stands. not waiting for a year
Of course Rex is responsible. But the players share that responsibility. These are paid professionals. They're not little leaguers.

For arguments sake - who would you keep in his place?
Watkins
Woods
Powell
Salas
Little
Lewis
Easley
should all make the team ahead of Goodwin.

Absolutely not true. The ONLY reasonable knock on Glass is that he's always getting hurt. That's it. He's an excellent route runner, has good hands, and takes the lid off the defense.
Stop lying. None of that is even remotely true.
Goodwin has absolutely no natural awareness when the ball is in the air. The last two preseason games I've seen him play his poor route running has led to incompletions when they should have been huge gains if not touchdowns.
I for one was very impressed with Goodwin after his rookie season three years ago and had extremely high hopes for him. But he's done nothing but regress as a player since then.

What kind of a name is Kroy anyways? Comanche Indian?
His name was supposed to be Kory but his parents misspelled it.

The big excuse last year is the D was not on the same page as they could not learn the system...so they tried to simplify half way through the season.Duke Williams is playing better this year because Rex says he has had a year to absorb the system.
The brought in Ed Reed to help because he played in the system
They brought in Rob Ryan because he knows the system
If I have to find one of the 200 times the system has been reported I will
exactly...Rex is so full of himself and his fathers vaunted 46 D he makes the team suffer....I hope 2 years in that the players can handle the system.
Make no mistake - it is much more complicated than the average system. But it's on the players to be willing to learn it. They're professionals too and should be held accountable as well.
I think the players underestimated how complicated and different it was in last year's training camp and weren't prepared going into the season and lost confidence in themselves as the season progressed.
You seem to have an emotionally-charged agenda.
-
Rex has such a complicated defence how ridiculous is it to hear it takes 2 years ( or more) to learn the language....and the fans eat that excuse up.
There is no way an owner or GM should accept such a line of Bull.....
What other endeavor on earth can you imagine you hire people to do a job and pay them $75,000,000 and let the manager prepare instructions so complicated they cannot do their job.
Rex is full of Bulls...
Everyone else is stupid and he is so smart they have to get their PHD before they can even listen to his theory.
Who said it takes more than two years to learn the Ryan system? Can you provide a link to that? Because the Jets accomplished it in Year #1 back in 2009.
I think someone else is full of Bulls...in this thread - and it ain't ole Rexy.

We also had Mario, who was one of the best rushers on earth at the time. Again, he's the worst player but he had a gigantic impact on our defense.
God, I hate being so negative but I agree. Again, Mario was 2nd team all pro DE. That is a huge loss.
lol come on. This can't be serious.

This team is going to struggle big time putting pressure on the qb. Our best pass rusher outside of Hughes could very well be Eric Striker. I hope he starts making an impression in preseason game 2 because he was invisible in game 1
As long as the players are well-versed in the scheme and communicate well, they will get pressure on the QB regardless of individual pass-rushing abilities.

Just a couple more camp bodies who will be cut in a few weeks.
-
What makes you say that?
Why would they go through the effort of stadium naming rights if they're just going to destroy it a few years later?
-
It just means that you have spared yourself from that Real Housewives Reality Show nonsense.
Rex- Denies reports of FA DE Kroy Biermann signing with #Bills. Said they're exploring making an addition to roster.
Must not be officially official yet. Hope that's all it is because he'd be a very solid pickup considering he's historically so good against the run.
His last name is perfect for Buffalo, btw.

She's like the "A-list" reality star. She may be the biggest reality star.
I doubt that very much. I've literally never heard of her until just now.
-
This must mean that the new stadium isn't happening anytime soon (within the next 20 years or so).

Haters will be haters. Now that he is cleared for practice I hope he throws himself into training camp and redeems himself. If he is ready, practices hard to be fully prepared, gets in shape and then stays that way, I will welcome him back when his suspension is lifted. As long as he contributes as much this year to the team's success as he did last year, I will be satisfied. I don't care what a screw up he is off the field as long as he makes the Bills a better team on the field.
You should care when it gets him suspended for 25% of the season.

Doing some research on this guy. Apparently his wife is some sort of reality TV semi-celebrity.
-
Lucky and great are not mutually exclusive.
-
False.
Oh, really? Do tell.
-
Goodwin would have a chance of making the training camp Hall of Fame. Unfortunately he's not very capable of making plays on a real football field. Even if he had a body naturally durable enough to withstand the rigors of the NFL.

Won't click the link. That's a pathetic joke.
-
Sheesh. Clayton also predict some terrorist attacks or natural disasters in the Buffalo area as well?

Unless Tom Brady changed his name to Julian Edelman, there's no way this thread deserved 10+ pages.
You should all be ashamed.

Their roster, yeah. Their starters not so much.
Pro Football Reference lists 11 Pats defensive starters last year: Chandler Jones, Ninkovich, Alan Branch, Malcom Brown, Jamie Collins, Dont'a Hightower, Mayo, Malcolm Butler, Logan Ryan, Chung and McCourty. One UDFA, Butler, and two picked up from other teams: Ninkovich and Alan Branch. All the rest include five Pats 1sts, 3 2nds, a 3rd and a 3rd.
On offense, they only list 8 starters, because some positions were platooned or shared or lost the starter early in the season: Brady, Edelman, Keshawn Martin, Gronk, Vollmer, Shaq Mason, David Andrews and Tre' Jackson. They don't list an RB, an RT or a 3rd WR / 2nd TE. Out of the eight, one is a UDFA, David Andrews, and one was drafted by the Texans, Keshawn Martin. The rest are all Pats draft picks.
You've listed a bunch of dime-a-dozen players that can be found on each roster in the National Football League.

I am not a fan of Schoop but today I think for the first time he has a valid point.
Draftin g players is about numbers in general and is about getting the most number of contributing players on your rooster from each draft.\
\No one knows for sure that any player is going to make it so you must try by shear numbers to get the most opportunities to draft the most players to have an impact
If you draft 5 players because you traded up...ie Ragland and the Bills...then your chances based on numbers and injuries is less likely to get a number of impact and rooster players than the team that traded down for more picks and ended up with 12 picks. New England is the example,
If your draft is shortened ie the Bills and injuries occur..ie the Bills to number 1 and 2...then your opportunity to have impact players drops...
and the ability to compete for a playoff spot drops.
The team that drafts 12 players and 7 make the rooster each year then your strength grows over time and the chances of success grow...see Patriots. I hate the patsies but they do it each year...and we are 0 and 16
It's a good point until using the Patriots as an example. They suck at drafting. They're great because of their quarterback and head coach. That's it.
