  1. Understandable. Lots of people felt that way.
  2. I’m counting on you to keep track of the DTs and their split times and let me know a few of the impressive ones.
  3. I agree. It’s funny how NHL players, most of whom are from Podunk, Whatever would complain about playing in any city.
  4. Definitely 10 game streak history. But I was referring to the 92% chance of making the playoffs in mid-December to the 93% chance of not making them less than theee months later.
  5. Perhaps, but that doesn’t explain past players who didn’t like getting traded here. Not only is it hard to do, my guess is that it’s history making. If not in the league, then certainly in franchise history.
  6. This thread had a predecessor made by 26CornerBlitz for years and it always included NHL talk in general as well as Sabres discussion. When he left TBD, BillsFan4 started this newer thread to keep the tradition alive as a place for us Bills fans to also have a dedicated thread for hockey discussion. While it’s predominantly a Sabres discussion thread, it has always been open to other hockey discussion. If you want a place for more Sabres only threads, you may want to check out The Aud Club at SabresSpace, SDR’s sister site to TBD and TSW.
  7. Great point about paying the 7.5m to attract more potential trading partners. That’s pocket change to the Pegulas, too. In keeping with the theme of the poor trade, I fully expect that pick to Anaheim, if it ends up being St. Louis’s, will becomes the next Wayne Gretzky.
  8. I had no idea you were talking about a specific QB or that I unknowingly supported a player’s decision to not throw. I thought we were having a general discussion. Anyway, if you are referring to Murray, I wholeheartedly agree.
  9. I’m confused. Doesn’t take much these days, so don’t take it the wrong way.
  10. Nothing matters more than the what they’ve put on tape (as you pointed out), how they interview, and how they do on the white board. So yeah, not throwing won’t help, but in the case of four of the QBs on the list, it certainly didn’t hurt them as they all went #1 overall.
  11. I wonder if a “Worst Place to be Traded” poll would score similarly. We’ve seen a number of players over the years who were flat out upset about coming here in years past. And with the Berglund situation, one has to wonder. I seriously doubt anyone is happy with failure, but there is a reluctance to see lack of progress for what it is.
  12. So I was doing some end of the month stat checking and I see that Hunwick, Scandella, and Sobotka (with one each) all put up more points than Tage Thompson, who managed to post a Blutarsky. With the Berglund situation and the pure suckitude of Sobotka, this trade keeps looking worse and worse for JBotts. And I have to wonder, why no time in Rochester? EDIT: I forgot to add Hutton as another player who outscored Thompson during February. I didn’t remember his assist on Reinhart’s empty netter vs. the Caps. Wow.
  13. Will Jerry have the stones to cut him? It is ironic that he will be one of those few pro athletes who did gave it up voluntarily and on his own terms only to be forced to a year or so later.
  14. Absolutely. But I could give a rat’s ass if the Cowboys agreed with me or not.
  15. I won’t read the article, but I’m wondering, is that “get off” in the figurative or literal sense?
  16. I stand corrected. It’s a shame he needs the money so much that he can’t muster up the integrity to turn it down. He retired for a reason. He’s lost it. But if Jones is too stupid, who am I to disagree. You’re right. Pro athletes are the least egotistical professionals outside of bee keepers and librarians.
  17. Mostly because he’s washed up and will be taking reps away from a young prospect just to satisfy his ego.
  18. Totally selfish move.
  19. I guess there’s meeting expectations and then actually showing affirmative signs of progress. In other years with other teams, an 18 point improvement over the previous season might point to an upward trajectory but not this year. Not when the vast majority of the season has been played at the .394 clip we’ve seen the last three months. Not when a team can’t win two in a row since December 13th. Not when the same defensive lapses keep costing us games. There have been been some positives like Skinner, the continued development of Eichel and Reinhart, and the promising play of Dahlin to name a few. And the streak, fools gold that it turned out to be, was a blast and fun to rally around.
  20. That 86 point pace is strictly a function of the winning streak in November. They have to capture 20 out of the 38 remaining points to get there. That’s a .526 clip. Since the streak ended, they’ve captured 30 out of 78 available points or a .394 clip which is only marginally better than last year’s .378 point pace for the season. The 10th game of the streak occurred in game 25 and gave us 36 out of the 50 points available to that point; a sizzling .720 clip. It’s been a precipitous fall over the last 38 games to say the least. With no signs of improvement as the inability to win back to back games since December 13th suggests.
  21. What's next, Darren Dreger saying he was perched up in the catwalk immediately above Dominic Hasek's goal crease and that it was definitely "No goal.?"
  22. Agreed. There are multiple issues with this team, from management to coaches to players. And we are several seasons away, AT A MINIMUM, before we are a contender because you just can't fix that many multiple issues in a shorter period of time. It's not going to happen. We have regressed as this season has progressed. And what passes for "progress" for some is a mirage.
