Here is a simple minded question. If kc was going to get worthy regardless, why would they move up and be willing to give away draft capital just to move 4 spots when no matter what , as you so strongly say, there was no way anyone else might want him and it was inevitable he was going to kc ?  Just to play mind games w mcd /beane again?   Appears they were concerned another team might want him, or maybe we had some other offers?  It’s a fair question, and just because someone has a diff opinion than your speculation, does not justify name calling like weak, simple minded, or just pathetic.  Something made them move up right?. Not just for giggles. /

Isn’t  it bad enough after each blown loss to the chefs, even a home playoff loss now as they got yet  another Lombardi , that the press and fans always remind people how mahomes got to kc ? He will always be tied to mcd/ white and so far ALLEN’s Bills have 0 meaningful playoff wins over mahomes/ KC!   ZERO.  And , we are regressing in terms of playoff advancement.

Now, PERHAPS. we can also be reminded we helped them get a guy faster than hill ( who already helped defeat us once in the playoffs as mcd  had no answers to control him under Reid in route to a prior SB) , while our own wr corp currently remains  the subject of ridicule as we absorb 31 mil in dead cap from another great beane deal ( like Von and the  dt from Carolina).   Typical more Billsy lore !   But why not avoid the superior air snide comments, passive aggressive language , which is very unbecoming.  It’s ok to have other viewpoints rather than only from those  that are blessed with flawless , SPECULATIVE ( forgive me if this is Brandon) knowledge.   Relax , no one on here is employed by the bills w exclusive insider knowledge or able to foresee the future.  The chiefs traded up for a reason , so they didn’t know worthy was theirs one way or another. Another chiefs player now linked to “ using the Bills”.   Wonder why some franchises still have ZERO  Lombardi trophies  after 55 years, and others jusr keep progressing and adapting.  Some have vision and don’t draft/ play “ not to lose”.  Just an opinion, not dogma!

You’re right.  I don’t know that KC would’ve gotten worthy one way or another.  I misspoke and I shouldn’t have said that.  Speculation.  Just like the bolded conclusion to your essay.  No?

I do believe that KC would’ve gotten worthy whether we had traded with them or not.  I’m glad we got the 3rd.

The chiefs did it to us when we needed a db and took mcduffie out from under us. Forcing us to trade up for Elam. What do they know as back to back champs.

Have a good night.  You have no clue.  You just think you do.

the chiefs may very well win more super bowls…. But it won’t be solely because of this trade.  It will be because they have Mahomes, Kelce, jones, Reid and Spags

What are you talking about? We literally went through this when the bills wanted mcduffie and ended up with Elam a few years back. That move cost us and this one will too. Bills are playing checkers, while the chiefs play chess.

lol….,please explain how this is even remotely the same thing other than in your scared head?  This is gonna get good.  Can’t wait to wake up and see the amazing content you’re about to post while on an emo rant.

Go on!  Please explain how we went through the same thing with McDuffie?  Did we bypass McDuffie?  Did we trade back with KC and enable them to draft McDuffie?  Was worthy the guy we really wanted but KC bamboozled us into thinking he wasn’t actually the guy we wanted?

make it make sense. Like real sense…. Not in your head sense….becasue are two completely different things

I know that Beane doesn’t agree.

    Beane > you.  Facts.

as a GM, you don’t make selections just so your “arch rival” doesn’t get said player.  You just don’t.  Disagreeing just makes you wrong.  Facts

You can play offense by having a good defense. You take away a puzzle piece that the chiefs have missed for the last 2 yrs with Hill and gave it right back. However close we were to beating them before is long gone now.

You don’t know this at all. The other teams might not have traded with them, or instead took worthy before them. This isn’t known.

The end result is KC dominating us for another 5 years until Allen ups and leaves after next contract.

As I said.  Simple minded way of thinking.  This is just ridiculous.  We should taken Worthy….. just so KC doesn’t get them….

    LOL.  Listen to yourself. Weak

There is no reasonable. You simply don’t let your arch rival trade up and get the player they want. It’s an inexcusable move imo.

I could care less about value or the possibility of them trading up with another team, you simply never make a move like this for fear it can come back to bite you as it did with Mahomes.

Stop trying to justify any of it, there really is no debating how stupid this was.

This is a very simple minded and weak way of thinking.  Playing scared.

they would’ve gotten worthy one way or another….unless you think we should’ve taken Worthy just to keep them from KC.  And that’s just pathetic.

  7. So we should have stayed at 28 and drafted a player we could’ve had later, while not getting an extra 3rd rd pick….just so KC wouldn’t be able to give us a free 3rd rd pick in order to select a player that may have been there when they picked at 32?  🤷🏻‍♂️

worrying about other teams = fail

worrying about building your own team = yes please

Well. Dotson hasn’t really shown anything special. We spent a 1st rounder on him but it’s been kind of a wasted pick at this point.

We will throw multiple picks at the OL/DL in the next few rounds and have some real competition there.

im not positive that JJ is the real answer, but I wasn’t positive Maye was either. And because of that I was able to extra picks for additional help that my team needs and will need. 6 picks in the top 76 will make the Commanders better in the long run. And if JJ is the answer, and he plays very well, next year we will be drafting 2 stud OL/DL in the first rd to assist him. If JJ isn’t the answer, we will likely be picking very early in the draft next year and have the extra 1st rounder to get to any QB we like. This isn’t a 1 year we’re going to be contenders, this is the long play at acquiring talent and building on that.

I hear ya on all of that.  Although I do think Dotson could still be a solid WR3.  Not sure if his lack of production is solely based on his talent.

Other than passing on Fautanu for another WR, it all comes down to believing in Maye or not.  You don’t believe, so the trade makes sense.  I do, so it doesn’t to me.  You got a good haul of picks though.

Well. I’m the GM so I make the rules here. Like I said, if I don’t like what JJ shows me, I’ll make moves next year and with the ammo I have I could easily get back into the top few picks to do it.

question, I know you like Maye, but had I taken Pennix, Worthy, McConkey, would you feel any better about it?

    No- for a few reasons:

I just think they’re going to blow their draft if they draft another QB other than Maye.  I also don’t think a QB needy team should ever trade away the ability to draft the best QB available in order to take a lesser QB.

On top of that, I don’t like passing on Fashanu twice (to draft Wrs both times) when you already spent a 1st on Dotson 2 years ago and paid Mclaurin.  So much invested in one position (a position dependent on a good QB) while the OL and DL are barren wastelands of talent.

if you think JJ = Maye (or Daniels) it’s an unbelievably good trade….and that’s certainly possible.  I just don’t believe that to be true.  I’m not a JJ believer, but I see why teams would draft him later in rd 1.  I love Mayes potential.

I can almost guarantee one of the WRs we want really bad will be there at 60.

Idk, I guess it just depends which WRs you want really bad, but for me it’s Nabers, MHj, Odunze, BTj, Mitchell, Legette, Worthy, Mcconkey, Franklin and Polk.  Those are the guys I’d be happy about taking with our 1st pick (Franklin and Polk preferably in a trade back).

I’d be happy with Pearsall, Coleman and Wilson would be nice if they were the 2nd WR we drafted. I think they’re all gone by 60 but it’s possible.  Baler is the only guy I think has a good chance of being there and he’s more of a 3rd rd guy for me.

Not gonna lie. This is how I felt today.

Might not be wrong. I have admitted in the past that I haven’t done a lot of work on the QBs. As a Bills fan we haven’t had a need to watch them for a while. Fact is, I could have had Pennix if I wanted him, that’s who the Raiders took, no?

I have weapons for the foreseeable future, and I still have 3 more picks in the next 37 picks and another 6 to back that up to move up more if needed. I also walk away with an extra 1st rounder next year which I’m pretty happy about.

I’ll get 2-3 contributors out of the OL/DL in the rest of this draft (had it moved on) that I’d feel fine about. And if my QB didn’t show signs of progression throughout the season I wouldn’t hesitate to package him along with my 2 first rounders next year to move up for whoever is the next big thing. The Commanders will be ok.

Oh, I was talking about how great I am

Nah, they’d just be hiring a new HC and drafting another QB in 2-3 years while never making the playoffs  😉

like I said-  just a matter of opinion on the QB.  I like Maye and think passing on him will be a mistake.  I hope the pats pass on him or trade back if Wash takes Jayden

Washington should absolutely come out of this draft as the big winners.  Anything less is a failure.

I’d be furious if I were a redskins fan.  Now I’d have 3 stud WRs (and a very good WR4-5’s) with no QB to throw to them….who has no OL to block for him and no pass rush to get the D off the field.  One year at a time I guess.

I’ld probably feel the same way when the skins draft Daniels over Maye tomorrow night, but drafting 2 WRs and neglecting the OL and DL is reckless imo.  Especially with Troy Fautanu still on the board after already taking a WR

all comes down to your opinion of the QBs. I wanted Josh Rosen. 🤦🏻‍♂️

I would tell Dan Orlovsky, I would like to understand how he is defining "failure/disappointment" because I don't think he's telling us straight.

Kadarius Toney, Henry Ruggs, and N'Keal Harry certainly failures, but what about Dante Pettis?  Jaelen Reagor?  Rashad Bateman?  What about Jameson Williams?  Then there are guys who are can play, but maybe just aren't contributing at the level you'd like from a 1st rounder.

Then what about the fact that in many of those years, one or more 2nd round picks are out-performing the 1st rounders?

    Questions, so many questions.

Pettis was a 2nd rd pick but I get your point.  Should be 6, not 3.  I haven’t scrubbed Williams as a failure yet and I think Bateman is solid, just never healthy and in a weird WR spot in Baltimore

So there seems to be a lot of smoke regarding Worthy. I'm not totally opposed to it, but have flashbacks of Goodwin and/or Graham. My question is, if Worthy ran a 4.4 40 and not the fastest ever, would he still be regarded as a 1st round wr?

If Tyreek ran a 4.4 would he still be a 30M man?

I do get your point, but the speed is why he is who he is.

we can't go into the year with two rookies outside. get up and go for btj and then get a vet like maybe dj chark. chark doesn't have to be a legit 2 but more of a guy to take pressure off kincaid and samuel

BTj AND Chark?  I think you’re dreaming.  I don’t see any chance of Shakir starting the season as WR4.  He’ll be a top 3 guy for sure.  We need one outside WR.  We have another in backup Hollins and 2 others (samuel and Shakir) that can play outside on occasion.

  15. With the 13th pick, the Las Vegas Raiders select Michael Penix, QB, Washington.

draft the best QB available until you have your QB.  Minshew is a perfect bridge and could be valuable trade bait once QBs start going down.

Would’ve liked to trade back a few and snag him but for the sake of everyone’s time, I’ll make the pick now.

    This is phenomenal work.

It sure is!  If you want to draft a crappy QB

This obviously all comes down to the GMs evaluations of the QBs.  I just think they’ll seriously regret passing on Maye.

@mragsno offense.  We just have different views of this QB class and Drake Maye in particular.

  17. All depends how the draft falls-  I’m inclined to say trade up into the 20’s because he’s done just that the last 2 seasons.

I’d be happy with any of the outcomes as long as we don’t take this years version of Kaiir Elam again. Hated that pick.  Loved all the other 1st rd picks other than wrong Josh!

Ed and Kincaid were the players I wanted most in rd 1 going into their respective drafts.  This year….i don’t think I really have a favorite.  Lots a players I like.  Some WRs, some not.

Polkin rd 2 is my only dream this year.  So Latu and Polk with our first 2 picks would be dreamy

Agree with the idea that teams will try to fleece Beane.  But Beane has a counter - it is a deep draft and I am not punished that much if I wait.  I am not pro trade-up, but I am hoping that if he tries Beane is too smart to get fleeced.

Agreed.  They can try and fleece him, but the draft class allows him to say effya.

I’m pro trade up for top 3, but have zero expectations.  I’m pro trade up for Thomas if he hits 22-23.  I’m pro take BPA @28.  I’m pro trade back as long as don’t go too far back.

We have lots of good options imo.

i was not initially, but after the Diggs trade, he’s one of a handful of guys I’d be happy with at 28.

    Legette

    Mitchell

    Mcconkey

Worthy (don’t love him, but the elite speed could be worth rolling the dice on if he’s available).

Polk-  that’s my dude and he’s the best run blocker in the class.

    Franklin in a trade back.
Pearsall in a bigger trade back

Coleman in a…..ugh. Idk about Coleman, but he’s intriguing
