  1. Yet how are the writers going to describe Walt being older if he has to reappear? As if you kill off Michael you can kill off having to bring back Walt as he can tell Sayid what transpired after he left the island and use some excuse like I don't want my son to ever have to relive what happened or any connections back to the island etc. I think part of the reason he originally Michael wasn't coming back was money if not mistaken. By giving him a token episode then can be done with him. That said it probably too obvious so it could be someone unexpected or less needed such as Rose or Bernard since they don't focus on them too often and considered lesser characters. Also not sure someone like Danielle or Alex or Karl could be offed without major uproar.

Not that I brag too often but I called it. Tonight's night felt a bit of a filler. Though we did learn some things of what happened to Michael upon returning to the real world. Though Tom/Zeke/Friendly whatever you want to use being alive was a surprise though him telling Michael that the island won't let him die is telling. Yet I wonder did the island allow Tom to live too as let's not forget he is supposed to be dead or was the flashback prior to his own death? Of course the question is who offed Karl and Danielle, Daniel etc seems the obvious choice yet wouldn't be shocked if Ben himself did it. The trailers for the restart appears to also confirm my earlier theory about bloodshed causing Claire to give up Aaron.

  2. Well there goes that theory.

I am glad though, it would've been dumb to bring him back and kill him off.

  3. both second round guys.

I think Thomas is a 1st Round guy (more likely at pick 21 to Redskins then pick 11 to the Bills) as he brings a similar size to D'wayne Bowe but more speed and Davis is a Round 3 guy. As while his measurables are among the best at his position he doesn't always play to them. Yet if go TE in Round 2 rather have a guy like Martin Rucker or Dustin Keller.

  4. The Bills are really in good shape either way. Correct, there will be some good WRs available in the second, but some of the corners will drop to the second as well.

So WR - CB or CB - WR will probably both work. I vote WR in round 1 because that pick probably actually starts at this point while the CB pick is probably behind Greer and McGee day 1 (but will play a lot I realize as the nickel).

I've said this many atime but will say again. The draft is about getting the best collection of talent. As to me a CB like Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie in Round 1 and WR Early Doucett in Round 2 is worth more then Limas Sweed in Round 1 and CB like Antoine Cason in Round 2.

  5. I don't suppose anyone reads Korean to know what Jin's gravestone said? The episode was pure brilliance as no way any one could have predicted a combination flash back/flash forward. Hurley being able to visit Sun is important in the time line of the future as he it means he wasn't in the institution and apparently after Kate's trial by the indication that the remaining Oceanic 6 could have visited Sun but choose not to. Michael on the boat wasn't surprising as seemed to be leading that way the more and more things played out. Though to me the mystery is who left the note that the captain can't be trusted. I think the writers want us to believe it was Michael but wouldn't be shocked if it was Frank. As think he truly is a friend and Michael is only working for Ben. I wouldn't be shocked if he's the person who dies next week is Michael as already mentioned as it allow the writers to wrap up his and Walt's story rather easily once he tells Sayid what happens. I think we also learned tonight that Juliet is truly on the Lostaways side though her method of doing things wasn't the best way but given the circumstances the only way she could.

  6. DE James Hall in today anyone no anything on him?

He was a guy I thought we should have pursued a few years ago to play at Left DE. As he's a decent pass rusher but not great but think he's lost a step from then. He's more of a workman type DE then a pure speed guy. I think he'd be solid veteran depth yet if signed him also look to take a guy in the draft that offers more speed to push him for a roster spot.

  7. Audio: Landri Visits Buffalo, St. Louis

Buffalo: "They like to bring kids in that will come in, fit in right away and excel."

From his Draft Countdown.com predraft bio, he sounds like the typical D-lineman selection we've made over the last few years. Ie high motor white guy (see Schobel, Denney, Kelsay, Anderson and Williams). I'm also slightly concerned that he sounds like another 3 type DT when we already have Tripplett, Walker and McCargo who could fill that role but still lack a true NT.

For more scouting reports visit his NFL.com predraft bio and CNNSI predraft bio.

  8. This isn't to significant but when Sawyer gave Kate the cassette tape (Phil Collins) he said "Just don't tell Bernard".

Seeing as we haven't seen either him or Rose all season, I thought it was weird. I mean why bring them up if you don't plan on bringing them back into the fold.

I'm sure it was done by the writers on purpose to tell us viewers that Rose and Bernard are still alive etc without having to give them camera time. As this show has one fairly large ensamble cast to do with and it seems to grow week by week.

In terms of the episode I just shake my head as to how foolish Kate is to be jumping Sawyer when she heard only a day or two earlier about the problem that pregnant women have had a rough time surviving but perhaps she wasn't in the best state of mind as it's obvious she's trying to get back at Jack. Her getting pregnant and perhaps being the first surviving woman definately seems possible but next week's preview seems to indicate Sun will have something to say about that first.

The picture on the monk's desk wasn't too revealing as DVR'd the episode as didn't want to miss any of the action as watched the Sabres game too and went back when watching the show "live".

Of course the question we now have is who was the woman that dropped from the helicopter. I think instead of Penny being in the helicopter with her she was instead sent by Penny to find Desmond and that's why she had the photograph of him to identify him. As she clearly recognised him when she stated his name after Desmond removed her mask. My first thought before the mask was unveiled that it was going to be Ruth as never really expected to see Penny despite Desmond's ranting. Inpart because I believe the actress that plays Penny is due to be in a new series on HBO (from the previews I've seen at least) so we might not see her for awhile. Of course with the Portugese book one is going to wonder if this new woman will have a Paulo connection.

  9. There is no doubt that we need a LB and a RB more than we need a DT. But, IMO, there is little or no doubt that if our defensive front four is crappy, decent, good, or great, our entire defense is going to be commensurately crappy, decent, good or great. Branch or Okoye could make them good or perhaps great. Willis and Poz, if the front four are crappy or decent, cannot make the defense good or great.

Draft Branch at #12. Trade our #2 for Turner unless we love one of the remaining LBs in round two.

Yes, I know Branch has question marks. They all have question marks. If our scouts think he is a character risk then I trust their judgment and wouldn't draft him myself. I doubt they do, however.

I agree with most of what you said except trading for Turner. Yet I don't think Okoye would fall past the Dolpins at pick 9 and Branch could be taken with the 49ers at pick 11. That said if Branch fell to pick 12 I'd welcome him as a Buffalo Bill as think he could be a starting NT that we currently lak on the current roster. I would then take Keeny Irons in Round 2 and look to take a MLB like David Harris and/or Buster Davis with our first Round 3 selection or if Justin Durant is still available shift Angelo Crowell to MLB.

  10. I've seen many draft strategies for the Bills. Theres one strategy that really makes me think we have a chance to compete for a championship in the next couple years.

(player A/player B)= player A being the 1st choice, though may not be there for us to draft. player B should be there for sure.

ROUND 1: Adrian Peterson/Marshawn Lynch RB

IMO Running back is our biggest need. The difference between AP/ML compared to the other running backs is much greater then the difference between Patrick Willis and siler/harris. Hence, my decision to take the RB.

ROUND 2:: Brandon Siler/David Harris LB

I saw siler and harris a lot in action the last 2 years. Both look like potential leaders for our defense.

ROUND 3: Tanard Jackson/Eric Wright CB

Jackson is tough and good vs the run, just as we like them. Living in vegas I saw wright play a few times...he pretty $%$& good.

ROUND 3: Justin Durant/Tim Shaw LB

With all the hype surrounding Durant, i doubt he will be here, but I'd be very happy with Shaw. Seems like a great fit.

ROUND 4: Courtney Taylor/Paul Williams WR

Taylor is big and likes to block. Good routes and over the middle. Paul Williams has the skills for a 1st/2nd rounder. attitude needs help, but he's got serious skills.

ROUND 6: Ben Patrick/Clark Harris TE

Patrick has been getting hype, but praying he falls to us, if not, Harris is a dependable receiver(wont step out of bounds b4 he gets 2 feet down in the game determining our season) and decent blocker, good size.

    ROUND 7:Cory Anderson FB

Probably the best blocking FB in the draft, may not be there in the 7th

    ROUND 7:Doug Datish/Dan Mozes C/G

Both can play multiple positions. I could have fantasized about some great talent falling to the 7th and taking him. But even if that talent did fall, we wouldnt take him.

While I think Patrick Willis may be the best player to help our team THIS year, I believe the RB in the 1st round gives us a better chance in the long run. Siler/Harris may not have the impact Willis does this year, but 2 years from now will be impact MLB's. The RB's we would be selecting in the 2nd round are all big risks. I wouldnt feel confidant knowing they would be the starting RB for the next several years. Peterson and Lynch(talk about his attitude all you want, the kid is a stud) can take our Offense to the next level.

Though I did read a post the other day regarding taking Alan Branch #1 and Kalil #2 that made me think. I am a big believer that the OL and DL win championships. Adding them to our lines could make both top notch. If we could take them and somehow land pittman and durant/siler/harris in the 3rd round, that would be ideal.

Regardless of how all this turns out, at least we are all entertained by the possibilities. Its gonna be fun, especially if peterson falls to #6, I could see us making a deal with the redskins(they only have 1 day 1 pick) to get him.

But this is what I expect to hear on draft day

With the 12th pick in this years NFL draft, the Buffalo Bills select Paul Posluszny, Linebacker, Penn State University.

Then I smash my buddy sitting next to me with a beer bottle because hes laughing at me, and ask Marv WHY?!?!? I think poz will be good, but not a good selection in this year draft at number 12.

A solid and realistic draft but to me the gap between Willis and Siler/Harris is far greater than the gap between Lynch and Pittman/Irons and why feel be better going LB first and RB second.

  11. In today's four round mock draft Mel has the Bills selecting:

    1. Patrick Willis (LB Ole Miss -- APete gone to the Vikings at 7)

    2. Antonio Pittman (RB OSU -- third RB selected)

    3a. Jonathan Wade (CB TN)

3b. James Marten (OT Boston College -- curious pick in my opinion)

    4. Rhema McKnight (WR ND)

I thought one of the surprising predictions was Daymeion Hughes going to Indy at pick 136. I know that his 40 times are lousy, but I watched him at Cal -- he's a playmaker at CB.

I like Mel's draft although wonder if Wade would pass our character test, I know in my mock I had us taking guys with problems too but in reality it might be another matter. Marten has both OG and OT at BC so think he be a good guy to have on the bench or maybe develop into a long term answer at LG if Duke Preston should happen to faulter. In terms of Hughes, a 4.6 plus forty time is horrible for a CB and play making aside speed factors big in terms of NFL and expect it will drop him to day 2 of the draft.

  12. I and I suspect others would really benefit from getting real world examples from folks of rookies who have mastered and played the Tampa 2 scheme as MLBs.

This is the crux of my entire problem with your arguement. You're not seeing the forest but only the trees. Tell me are we mearly drafting Willis to play one year or many years? In my eyes the 2007 season will be very reminscent of the 2006 season. As suspect we'll struggle in the early season but could come on by seasons endand yet finish around .500 again. As think Marv is truely hoping to have this team as a contender in 2008 when Losman will be in his 3rd full year of starting and starting to peak and at the same time allow the D to be completely comfortable with the new scheme and/or starters. As last year was a year of analysis to see who was worth keeping in the long term and just how close we truely were into being a contender. That's why he let go of most of the veteran players and/or players that didn't fit into the long term plan he has.

  13. 1 Oakland Calvin Johnson

    2 Detroit Joe Thomas

    3 Cleveland Adrian Peterson

    4 Tampa Bay Jamarcus Russell

    5 Arizona Laron Landry

    6 Washington Gaines Adams

    7 Minnesota Brady Quinn

    8 Atlanta Jamaal Anderson

    9 Miami Amobi Okoye

    10 Houston Levi Brown

    11 San Fransisco Adam Carriker

    12 Buffalo Leon Hall

I think that's very realistic but could see Oakland and Tampa's pick reversed as well as Arizona and Atlanta's. In terms of the Bills pick while I'd much rather have Patrick Willis, I think our pick will be either 1)Willis or 2)Marshawn Lynch or 3)Leon Hall.

    BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURN

    *burns down the Aud*

    ...

I'd enjoy that draft, except take someone else other than a CB at #3, and Tyler Palko with the 7th round pick (Played against him in High School).

Pick 3A actually was the toughest pick I had to decide on as could go so many places with the pick so went with best player type thing, as had thoughts of a DT and WR but always feel draft is about getting the best collection of players and feel did that and at the same time helped fill needs we had.

  15. This isn't a dream mock but how I truely feel things could fall on draft day and how I'd do them if I was in Marv Levy's shoes.

Round 1 (12) MLB Patrick Willis Ole Miss: He might not be available but if he is I can't see how we pass on him as a draft is about getting the best collection of players and there's no better MLB and arguably LB prospect in the draft better than Willis. On the off chance he is off the board only then could I see take RB Marshawn Lynch. As feel we can come up with a quality RB in the 2nd Round of the draft easier than a quality LB later in the draft.

Round 2 (43) RB Kenny Irons Auburn: Back when Marv was coaching we had a RB with the last name of Thomas and another with the first name of Kenny. That said I think Irons could be a quality RB that might start the year splitting time with Anthony Thomas but by years end should be our feature back of the future.

Round 3A (74) CB Eric Wright UNLV: With question marks on who will start opposite Terrence McGee I elect we take a CB that at the very least can contribute to special teams as a rookie but also has the tools to start in the NFL should Ashton Youboty faulter.

Round 3B (92) WR Jason Hill Washington State: While Peerless Price was a feel good story last season, I don't anticipate him around too much longer and could very well not returning for 2007. As Hill has better size and could develop into an ideal compliment to Lee Evans. Though as a rookie don't expect him to see the field much as will instead serve as the #4 WR behing Evans, Reed and Parrish on the depth.

Round 4 (111) LB Juwan Simpson Alabama: Simpson has character issues but with the questions we have LB I looked past it. At the very least would prove quality depth behind Angelo Crowell or could even start if have to shift Patrick Willis to SAM because Ellison faulters.

Round 6 (184) TE Johnny Hairline BYU: Could become an H-back and good compliment to a blocking first TE like Robert Royal.

Round 7A (222) DT Conrad Bolston Maryland: I like his name and projects to be a 7th Round pick in two of my draft magazines.

Round 7B(239) QB James Pinkney East Carolina: Developmental QB that likely be nothing more than a career back up if makes the NFL (see typical 7th Round QBs).

  16. When they flashed back to the crash, it looked like Ben sent 2 of their own to scope out the scene (ethan & the dude sleeping with Juliette). Although we have never seen that guy until yesterday. Lots of questions and 5 shows to answer them (well at least some of them). Next week looks interesting, wonder what's going to happen with Locke and his father?

The guy sleeping with Juliette was Goodwin, the guy that originally fooled the Tallies but was eventually killed by Ana-Lucia.

  17. Cancer and giving birth are linked in a way...they both involve cell division and growth of a tumor or zygote. Perhaps the island attacks both processes, with deadly side affects for pregnant women.

I think you're onto something with as perhaps the Island does not want those on the island to reproduce for some reason. As let's not forget also that both Shannon and Ana Lucia were killed shortly after having sex with Sayid and Sawyer respectively. Yet the question has to be why/when did this start this practice. We've covered that Rousseau likely gave birth to Alex on the island but of course Juliette survived after her little liaison let's not forget that Ben himself was born on the island as well and how that impacts things has yet to be determined.
