1. From http://story.scout.com/a.z?s=93&p=2&c=346000

(you'll need a subscription) - trust me, it says they're scouting him hard at the Senior Bowl practices.

He can play Guard or Center, but is probably more suited to center IMO.

    220917

I'm curious why you feel he's a better center? I feel the opposite. I know he can play both but if read his bio at MGoBlue.com he's played most of his collegiate career at LG which is where I'd put him. He should be the 2nd OG selected with the top guy likely being Elton Brown from Virginia but sadly both of which I suspect will be gone by the Bills draft but one can hope either one would fall to us.

  2. As see things now I think we're going to end up with Tampa's 3rd Round pick for Henry. Some good thoughts all around this thread but I have questions about counting on Munoz to be a LT in the NFL as a rookie. Nick Kaczur was a guy I listed as who I thought we'd take in my early draft research but he had a strong Shrine game and might have moved himself and just out of our reach. I agree with many of R. Rich's sentiments (but will toss Bob Whitfield's name as another LT that look at if lost Jennings as feel Thomas would be out of our price range) but agree that CB as a potential place to go in Round 2 if a quality guy drops. As well as McGee played, I'd rather have him at nickel and as a return specialist not to mention with Clements due to be an UFA after 2005.

Sidenote: Ritzmann is a DE and Stevenson has been off the team for some time, last I heard he was in Washington.

  3. In 1974, the Pittsburgh Steelers picked Lynn Swann in the first, Jack Lambert in the 2nd, John Stallworth in the 4th, and Mike Webster in the 5th.  FOUR NFL Hall of Famers in 4 picks (they didn't have a 3rd) in one draft.

BTW, the BILLS had shots at all of these players.  Instead we picked: Rueben Gant (Swann), Doug Allen (Danny White, Dave Casper, and Lambert), Gary Marangi (Mark Van Eeghen, Nat Moore, Stallworth), Charlester Crumpler , Gary Hayman, and Tim Guy (all picked before Webster).

    Damn.

The 49ers 1986 draft is another that many consider one of the finest. As Walsh drafted Rathman, McKyer, Taylor in the 3rd, Haley, Wallace, Fagan in the 4th. Griffen in the 6th. Making it more impressive was Walsh's ability to trade down and get these guys. On a sidenote I think without a doubt we can all agree the Bills best draft was in 1987.

  4. fisher really turned it around this year and was solid........bills made a mistake cutting him and i'm sure they'd love to have that move back.........

    219190

Fisher had 8.5 sacks this season (.5 sack more then Schobel but still think Aaron's a better player) and due to be an UFA. I think he'd be a nice addition as a 3rd down/pass rush specialist but imagine he'll re-sign with the Rams or go somewhere to be a starter. Although it might be tough for him to reproduce that sack total year in year out.

  5. Thinking about trying the new digital phone service that is out now. I found this compnay and it's much cheaper than Time Warner (sorry cablelady). Just curious if anyone knows anything about them or maybe they have it now.

    Thanks

Just a quick note, if you own a Sony brand Tivo (or possibly any other brand) it's best you don't use a digital phone line. As I know first hand that Sony brand Tivo's are made only to use an analog phone lines, if try to use digital line with one you'll end up having to pay for a repair because digital phone lines can fry your (Sony brand) Tivo's modem.

  6. Yeah.  Then you can play Return to Zork.  Again.

    212676

Before you stands a white house.... For what it's worth I have been able to run Return to Zork on almost every PC I've ever owned (Win95.98 and even an XP machine) but didn't play the game all the way through on the XP machine as the bog maze in that game gives me a major headache, twice (to complete the game) was enough but not as much as the guy asking me "Want some rye?, course you do" :D

  7. I've got a similar one.  Our group's rule is that, if you leave your terminal unlocked, you're fair game.  Well this one guy kept leaving his terminal unlocked all week (very atypical).  By the third time, we figured we needed to have some real fun (instead of changing wallpapers, hibernation time of Windows, etc).  We had a relatively new manager of our group (a few months), three people had already quit and he was feeling very self-conscious about it (first time as a manager).  So we sent him an email with a subject line os "I quit!!!!" and in the body is said, "And it's all because of you!!!!"  I then put a bunch of cariage returns and way at the bottom (where I knew he wouldn't see unless he scrolled down) it said, "Just kidding."

My coworker saw that we sent it and replied to all of us saying he thought it was funny.  But the manager hadn't seen it yet...

So a few hours later, the manager (already having a bad day) sits down in his cube (right next to us).  A minute later we heard his exasperated voice say, "Aaron....  Will you come here for a minute?"  Aaron walks into his cube.  "What's the meaning of this?"  Aaron tells him that I sent it, and both myself and my other coworker just start howling with laughter.  My manager literally takes his glasses off, sets them on the desk, rubs his face and says, "That was NOT funny..."  Aaron says "I didn't send the email though," and my manager just says, "You left your termianl unlocked, it's your fault."

    Pretty funny.

We have the same rule where I work. While I can't take credit for this one, just have to share. One day a girl left her computer unlocked and someone adjusted her desktop so that the screen was upside down. She came back and said can someone help me here? My friend (and I think same guy who set the desktop upside down because to this day he still wont admit to it) offers to help, Instead of resetting the desktop he physically turns the monitor upside down. The whole row then starts laughing which causes our sup to come and inspect the situation. He was like what the hell? and of course ends the fun by having my friend put the monitor back to normal and the girl restart her computer..

  8. You just know that Jonathan and Victoria will be in it until the end...just because they piss everyone off.  But I wish someone would just punch him in the face.

    204413

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who watches this show. It deserves the Emmy's, as to me it's far and away the best reality tv show. I'm rooting for Kris and John to win it but starting to like the wrestlers more and more each week.

I watch the show every week with my father and every week he curses Jonathan and I tell him, you know he's going to go to the final 3, using the same logic you just used. It just irks him and I laugh and while I Jonathan is as big an @$$ as this show has ever seen he doesn't bother me as much as the female model who is the only a perfecet model Ugly American.

  9. According to the linked article, Blackmon's defense was horrible. I suspect Gray will be here next year but if the defense again ranks in the top 5, he could very well be a head coach in 2005.

Under Blackmon, the Falcons ranked last in the NFL in pass defense (243.9 yards), yards per play (6.1) and third-down efficiency (46.3 percent). Their run defense was the NFL's second-worst (121.4). Atlanta finished 7-9.

  10. I give you some kudos for coming up with the list but I just need to follow up some of them.

Easy choice.  Pat Williams. NO QUESTION.

There are 3 reasons for this.

    1. Jennings is a great athlete but is not as durable as PW

    2. Jennings is a solid Tackle.  Williams is a disruptive force at center. He wreaks havoc.

    3. Jennings will cost too much.  We can find cheaper alternatives through free agency and the draft.

    201170

    1. I can't argue that PW has been more durable then Jennings, but he's now over 30 how much long can we depend on PW?

    2. Are you aware that the Redskins had a better rush defense then us? Are you aware that Joe Salave'a (a former Titan) was one of their starting DTs this year is also set to be an UFA this year and three years younger then Williams? He might not be as good as Williams but could be a better economic choice because of age and familiarity with our system (since he has been coached by Gregg Williams afterall).

    3. Do I need to bring up the names John Fina, Jerry Crafts, Corey Louchey, Robert Hicks, Kris Farris and many of the other alternatives we've had at OT?

  11. I didn't know it was that bad!  I was sort of concerned but then I read an article that said Leonard Davis made the transition in the same year and is now really impressing.  He also was looked at as a bust and they even played him at G.  Now people say he's the real deal.  I think Mike's a better lineman than Davis so he should be able to make the move.

    201165

Let's not forget that Davis played LT at Texas, meanwhile BIG Mike played opposite him at RT. Even after Davis left Texas Williams remained at RT. I know some will say inpart because Chris Simms was a lefty but let's remember Major Applewhite played at the same time and was a righty. Time will tell if Williams can make the transition as Davis did. We can only hope he can.

  12. Detroit can't sign both or tag both.  I'd love to have Dominic at C and if we lose Jennings we could either swing Teague to LT or release him and switch MW to LT with McDougal coming on board.

    201146

I've said it in other threads but Teague gave up 11.5 sacks in one season as a LT in Denver which is almost as many sacks Jennings has given up for his career (13.5) in other words moving Teague to LT is a bad move. In terms of signing McDougal and shifting Williams to LT. Not a bad idea but I have serious concerns of BIG Mike at LT.

  13. The only reason I see Pat Williams winning these polls because of sentiment. As no doubt Pat Williams has enamored himself to Bills fans but I for one can not understand why people are so quick to toss Jennings aside. I know of the interview he did with an Atlanta radio station that everyone cites. I know that he has not been an ironman. I know he might command a big salary. Yet I still fail to understand why so many are willing to let go of a 27 year old LT who in 52, or if want to to count his games at LT 42, games that has only surrended 13.5 career sacks? His primary backup is due to be an UFA as well outside that we have next to no depth. To me it's illogical to want to let him go especially with all the troubles we've had on the O-line.

In comparison, Williams is over 30 and we have some depth at his position.True he's a good player and been a workhorse but I just can not understand why people feel it's better to keep him over Jennings if they use their heads instead of their hearts.

  14. You can't trade Brees right now.  San Diego has been awful for 10 years, and then they finally have a good season and have a 25 year old QB that played at a Pro Bowl level, and you're going to trade him and start all over again?

    200382

Just to play the :D 's advocate, as my feelings on this subject were previously mentioned but tell that to the Cinncinati Bengals, granted Kitna was 31 last year and not 25.

  15. The question is will either be healthy enough.  Rarely are players the same the first season back from knee surgery.  I wouldn't bank my offense on TWO gimpy TEs and Ryan Nuefeld.

    200483

If looking for a one year solution then sign someone like Itula Mili or Cam Cleeland to a one year deal to hold down the fort but won't kill you from a cap perspective.

  16. I think it be wise to sign a veteran OG to at least compete for the starting LG spot. Yet at the same time think drafting someone early is wise too since Chris V is over 30 and don't see any long time answers on the roster.

In terms of TE, I think Campbell and Euhus, if healthy, are a good one two punch. I know many have called for big names like Franks and Jones but I don't see the Bills using big money at TE. I know Donahoe said he was going to address the position in a Buff News article, I think this could mean just bringing in a veteran to "compete" for a roster spot. I saw that Dave Moore is expected to be an UFA and could be a short term answer if we need Campbell or Euhus to recoop. I could also see us trying to land a guy like Cushing of the Steelers, who coud come in and give us 3rd string blocking TE which we currently lack.

  17. Indianapolis had better win the Super Bowl this year or next year.  I just cannot see them keeping all of their talent around.  James, Freeney and Wayne are all going to want big dollars.  I know Polian said he is committed to keeping James, but if he does, how do you keep Freeney and Wayne as well?  I think Freeney will make huge money if/when he becomes a free agent.  I'm not sure when that is though.

    200345

Freeney's contract expires after the 2008 season, though if I'm an agent I renogiate that rookie contract after 2006. He could try and make a stink this offseason as he's due to make 600k next season but in 2006 his base goes up to $5 million, but then steadies off his last two seasons with about $1 million in 2007 and $1.2 million in 2008. Wayne's contract is up after next season and fully expect him to shop his wares.

  18. I thought that was the plan. But it turns out Big Mike always was a right tackle anyway... albeit in front of a lefty qb.

but then we did have RJ when we drafted him right?? or am i getting forgetful?

    200258

I would hope in drafting Williams so high, the team had hoped he would be the LT and Jennings would be the RT. BIG Mike never played with RJ. Though by years' end of RJ's final year here (2001) Jennings was our starting RT. He only shifted to LT because we drafted Williams. If we lose Jennings, alll we can hope is that Williams can make the transition to LT like Leonard Davis finally did or that we can find a short term solution (maybe Bob Whitfield) for a year or two until we finally find a replacement for Will Wolford.

  19. I think the Chargers should trade a 1st rounder for future picks...maybe a 2nd next year, a 2nd this year etc..and stockpile for cheaper contracts....New England did that a lot recently correct?

    200181

You're thinking of when the Ravens traded for New England's first round (19th overall) pick in 2003 (to grab Kyle Boller). The Patriots ended up with the Ravens' 2003 second-round choice (41st overall) and the Ravens’ 2004 first round choice (Vince Wilfork). Of note the New England later dealt the 41st (Ben Joppru) overall pick along with the 75th overall (Seth Wand) choice to Houston for the 36th overall pick in 2003 (Eugene Wilson).

In terms of the Brees vs Rivers debate, I say stick with Brees because he is a known product and both QBs are young enough that you can build around either one. Though I don't see either one being an "elite" QB like Peyton Manning (who still needs to show more then a QB that can lead his team out of the 1st Round of the playoffs), Brett Favre, John Elway etc.
