I think it be wise to sign a veteran OG to at least compete for the starting LG spot. Yet at the same time think drafting someone early is wise too since Chris V is over 30 and don't see any long time answers on the roster.
In terms of TE, I think Campbell and Euhus, if healthy, are a good one two punch. I know many have called for big names like Franks and Jones but I don't see the Bills using big money at TE. I know Donahoe said he was going to address the position in a Buff News article, I think this could mean just bringing in a veteran to "compete" for a roster spot. I saw that Dave Moore is expected to be an UFA and could be a short term answer if we need Campbell or Euhus to recoop. I could also see us trying to land a guy like Cushing of the Steelers, who coud come in and give us 3rd string blocking TE which we currently lack.

Indianapolis had better win the Super Bowl this year or next year. I just cannot see them keeping all of their talent around. James, Freeney and Wayne are all going to want big dollars. I know Polian said he is committed to keeping James, but if he does, how do you keep Freeney and Wayne as well? I think Freeney will make huge money if/when he becomes a free agent. I'm not sure when that is though.
Freeney's contract expires after the 2008 season, though if I'm an agent I renogiate that rookie contract after 2006. He could try and make a stink this offseason as he's due to make 600k next season but in 2006 his base goes up to $5 million, but then steadies off his last two seasons with about $1 million in 2007 and $1.2 million in 2008. Wayne's contract is up after next season and fully expect him to shop his wares.

I would hope in drafting Williams so high, the team had hoped he would be the LT and Jennings would be the RT. BIG Mike never played with RJ. Though by years' end of RJ's final year here (2001) Jennings was our starting RT. He only shifted to LT because we drafted Williams. If we lose Jennings, alll we can hope is that Williams can make the transition to LT like Leonard Davis finally did or that we can find a short term solution (maybe Bob Whitfield) for a year or two until we finally find a replacement for Will Wolford.

You're thinking of when the Ravens traded for New England's first round (19th overall) pick in 2003 (to grab Kyle Boller). The Patriots ended up with the Ravens' 2003 second-round choice (41st overall) and the Ravens’ 2004 first round choice (Vince Wilfork). Of note the New England later dealt the 41st (Ben Joppru) overall pick along with the 75th overall (Seth Wand) choice to Houston for the 36th overall pick in 2003 (Eugene Wilson).
In terms of the Brees vs Rivers debate, I say stick with Brees because he is a known product and both QBs are young enough that you can build around either one. Though I don't see either one being an "elite" QB like Peyton Manning (who still needs to show more then a QB that can lead his team out of the 1st Round of the playoffs), Brett Favre, John Elway etc.

Actually he went to Ole Miss and he's due to be an UFA after this season. The contract he signs could be a good indication as to what Nate is worth, of course Nate has 7 career more INTs (18 vs 11). Lucas was a guy I thought the Bills might have drafted if they went for an O-lineman in the first round in 2001. Instead we traded down, and took Clements in the 1st.

Based on what little I have seen of JP. He definately has the great skill set that made him a first round pick yet he has also shown to be as green as his college helmet (bad metaphore I know). He's going to take some time to develop. Like most inexperienced QBs he needs to learn to stay in the pocket and look to make a play with his arm instead of his legs. As all too often in the preseason (and parts of the regular season) he'd leave the pocket and start going upfield. While many predraft publications likened him to Brett Favre, I think TSN's comparison to Jake Plummer a better one based on what have seen so far. Maybe after developing he'll become another Favre but he's far from that right now.

Holcomb is a journeyman QB who might do well along the lines of Kordell Stewart and Tommy Maddox for one season but of course both Stewart and Maddox were high draft picks whereas Holcomb was never drafted in the NFL. Say what you will but I always feel that talent should always come to the top. That said one thing I like in looking at Holcome is his completion percentage. Two things is he's never been a full time NFL starter and has thrown more INTs then TDs for his career. So he might be a step above Shane Matthews but there are questions how much better he is then Bledsoe. I've heard that Bledsoe is expected to count about $6 mil against the cap next year if we keep him and if cut would cost $4 mil against the cap, the question is could Holcomb be signed for less then $2 mil a season?

The 2000 draft remains a primary reason this team has struggled to make the playoffs the last four seasons. I feel the single biggest error was selecting Erik Flowers instead of Darren Howard. As Erik Flowers has 5.0 career sacks and Howard has 41.0. I did a mock draft on the old D&C board and Howard was my pick at the time with some hesitation because of his work ethic. The truth is Flowers was deemed by most draftniks as a 3rd Round pick but because he was able to add some weight prior to the combine and keep his 4.66 speed that's why I think we ultimately took him instead of Howard even though by most he ranked lower.

According to this Lily dropped out of the running due to Lost. Bosworth is a poor choice due to being a blonde, Katie Holmes might have been a better pick.

According to Stats Inc profile Raiola is only credited to allowing .75 sacks over the past two years and 2.50 total over the past four years. In comparison Trey Teague has given up 5.50 over the past three seasons (with 5 coming in 2002, .50 in 2003 and 0 this past season). While sacks are not the only stat to measure an O-lineman on Teague does offer better size at 6-5 300 vs Raiola's 6-1 295. Also of note as a LT with Denver Teague gave up 11.25 sacks, which should end any thoughts of signing Raiola and shifting Teague to LT. Although thoughts of moving Teague to LG and bringing in Raiola to man the middle might be considered however I'm not one for shifting lineman.

Apparently you missed Super Bowl XXI, Simms had one of the best performances ever by a QB. 22/25 268 3 TDs 0 INTs and toss in 25 yards on 3 carries.
While I don't think Simmis is a HOFer and feel Kelly was a better QB; I have questions about Kelly being in the HOF.

They didn't think he was finished, he was hurt in the second to last preseason game and was expected to miss some of the early schedule. The team wanted to place him on IR in order to keep him for the season after. Christie didn't want to miss the entire season so decided to reach an injury settlement and let himself shop his wares when he was available. In retrospect the biggest mistake was not letting him go but not keeping his second replacement, (Shayne Graham) now with Cinncinatti and one of the most accurate kickers in the entire league.
Another note, Martin Gramatica might also be available as doubt he'd want to stuck with the Colts as a kick off specialist after this season as am sure some team (including us) might want to bring him into camp to compete for the regular kicking job.

Drummond deserves the nod, he was 2nd in the NFL 26.6 yards per KO return whereas McGee was 3rd and averaged 26.3. Drummond also lead the NFL in Punt return average with 13.2 per punt return and had a 2 KOs returned for TDs and 2 Punt returns for TDs and only played in 11 games this season.

One good thing coming out of Texas' success this year is that it should stop any talk of Jerry Gray ending up there next year. As I hate to lose Gray but think if he can lead this defense to a top 5 finish next year he could be an NFL head coaching candidate in 2006.

If had to compare his style of play in the NFL it would be Aaron Brooks, great package but just unable to put it all together. As Campbell's not accurate and at times take a bad sack. There were also some questions about his leadership coming into this season but am sure were somewhat erased in guiding the Tigers to an undefeated season this year. I suspect he'll be a 3rd or 4th Round selection but if has a strong Senior Bowl might be able to sneak into the 2nd Round. -

No O-line prospects I can think of off hand of course maybe I'm wary of taking Auburn O-line since that's where we got Pucillo from.

There's definately talk Hopkins could be a cap casuality, if he's available he's certainly on my short list in terms of replacements if we lose Jennings. I would probably rank Whitfield higher then Hopkins but think either one would be a good one or two year answer at LT.

I could Barron going as high as #3 if the Browns actually try to fix their O-line. I wouldn't mind contributing to the Draft Forum but I do contribute to another site (which will remain nameless) on a semi regular basis.

If looking for a one year solution then sign someone like Itula Mili or Cam Cleeland to a one year deal to hold down the fort but won't kill you from a cap perspective.
