Holy cow! Trade madness! Is this the NBA?
Look at what's available if we traded down? A high 2nd Rounder or Two 3rd Rounders? This is sickening. I'd take any of those and a used a later pick on Bulaga or Dan Williams over Spiller.
-
Guess that kills the chance of Oakland taking Morgan?
Or JPP. Which might open the door for them taking Clausen.
-
im with you on this as well. while it's easy to get distracted, or change theories week to week, when you look back the show has been centered around him the entire time.
Ironic too as remember hearing reports that originally Jack's character was supposed to die after the first few episodes.
-
Not much to really say as the episodes are getting more and more straight forward. I think Flocke is telling the truth or at least his version of the truth. So I think he truly was Christian. Yet if he needed the body to be present of the person's identity he overtook the question remains who was that guy we first saw him as when him and Jacob were talking on the beach? Also does Jacob have these same powers? We might ever find out these answers but just throwing them out there.
Also it seems that Sayid wasn't truthful of killing Desmond. I think Desmond was asking Sayid his question about what Flocke offered him so he could find him in the sideways world. Speaking of sideways time I'm surprised no one else mentioned the feeling like there might be a sideways reunion of most of the Lostaways at the hospital and/or jail. As have a sneaking suspicion that somehow the group that we see on the island now has to somehow group together in the sideworld and the finale might ultimately be of which world they chose. To quote one Jack Shepperd from S1, "We can live together or die alone".

Why no mention of Chad and Chris Kelsay? Both drafted by Tom Donahoe. http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/index.php?showtopic=37457

I think Sergio Kindle has to be in the discussion as well. The Bills are weaker and have more questions at OLB than inside.
I agree we're weaker at OLB than ILB but I can't see us taking an OLB with pick #9 as no one grades out worth that pick.

$10 million dollars...... Brandon Marshall.....for two 2nd round picks and lots of money leftover for free agents.
which would you rather have ??? (let's use buffalo's two 2nd round picks from last year and this years free agent signing)
Miami $10 mil (Marshall $10 mil)
or
Buffalo $10 mil (Byrd $750,000 , Levitre $666,000 , Andra Davis $2.2mil, Dwan Edwards $4.5mil, with $2mil leftover)
i like buffalo's hand.
Considering there's no salary cap and even when there was one we were $27 Million below the cap, call me greedy but I'd want ALL of them.

Dang, thank God I got through all five seasons in time to be watching S6 with you guys....I'm reading through your posts and I'm getting more confused as to wtf is going on, lol. It sure is fun trying to figure it out, though!
I can't believe that only a couple months ago I'd never seen a single episode of this show!
BTW, why are you guys calling him "Flocke"?
Sorry for the confusion. As everyone has their own interpretation of what's going on and I'm trying to get there before everyone else. So I've been throwing out a bunch of theories of late as I'm a loyal follower of the show but unlike UConnJames (and think others) I don't venture too far from this board in discussing/researching LOST so many of my opinions aren't shared by many as far as I know.

I can't wait for the day that I open a thread and don't see somebody thinking we're getting Jared Gathier
If we could get him I'm pretty sure we would have already done it by now. I mean the Eagles didn't wait until draft day to nab Jason Peters.
-
I read the whole transcript, and I think his comments on left tackle are a smoke-screen or at least they are not going to reach for a need. Nix did make the statement that they need a strong offensive line:
"If we got some deficiencies in some areas, which we do, not as many as everybody thinks probably, but if we build a strong defense and a strong front offensive line we can keep adding some talent and that way we’ll stay good for awhile."
He mentioned in the past that a team cannot have enough good offensive linemen.
I think they could draft Derrick Morgan with the first pick.
Lastly, I think they are going to trade Marshawn if they can get a decent draft pick in return. I think they would just assume moving on. Hopefully, they pick up James Starks in the later rounds. They will be drafting wide receiver in the later rounds.
How is Derrick Morgan going to help this D? We're shifting from a 4-3 to a 3-4, if we take Morgan it means shifting yet another DE to OLB? While I like Morgan's talents and size better then Maybin there's no telling how either would be at OLB. I think it seems to lead that we're going to take an OT as seems like the press is reporting that we're entertaining QBs (like Tebow and Clausen) which makes OT the ideal pick so long one of the top 3 are there. If not I could see us trading down and taking a guy like Davis.

Peters was signed as a TE and it wasn't until he was traded that Walker was moved to LT. Jennings could never stay healthy but it will be a real surprise if the OL is not addressed.
Jonas Jennings spent his rookie year as our RT and then shifted to LT, Peters was signed as a TE, shifted to RT and then switched to LT. Feel free to review at http://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/eagles_f...ml/peters_2.htm.Walker played RT his first full year and then played some time at LT when Peters was hurt and pegged to be our LT last year before he was cut.
-
you NEVER take a RIGHT tackle that high, they are not that important....not in the top 15 picks anyway
You shouldn't but the Arizona Cardinals did it a few years ago when took Levi Brown 5th overall and made the Super Bowl. That said he might finally shift to LT in 2010.
-
At best I say 3rd.
-
That would be nice... but I find it hard to believe we trade out of 9 when Bulaga/Clausen available.
Anyway, it's hard enough to predict drafts when mock drafters know the pick order (good % around 25), predicting trades just seems ridiculous.
Clausen being available makes sense look at the teams drafting after us and none of them need to take a young QB. The only exception might be Jacksonville but can't see Del Rio going for that with his job security on the line. I know the 49ers are thought to but they took a QB last year, Nate Davis, and Alex Smith looked like he and Vernon Davis finally lived up to their draft hype last year.
-
Who says he is a long-term RT? Is this a case of "short arm syndrome" again?
He may start at RT, but I bet he makes the transition to LT in a year unless he gets drafted by a team that already has a stud LT ...and that won't happen.
Doncha know the Bills shift their RTs to LT and then after that soon let them go. See Jonas Jennings, Jason Peters and Langston Walker all as recent examples.

it definitely looked like he was "crossing over". not sure about completely trading places. but i believe that sideways Locke was seeing the "real" time line, just like Charlie during his near death experience.
Perhaps, only time will tell. Yet I just can't see how the writers wouldn't bring real Locke back to the island as he is one of the most beloved/hate to characters on the show and with him and Jack always at odds can't see how they can't be reunited in the end. All in all I felt watching most of the episode that Desmond in the sideworld was very Jacobesque in that he was finding the Lostaways and as mentioned by someone else trying to get them to connect back to the real time line. Also I think the island Desmond was playing Flocke from his line about not having any place to go, to telling him your John Locke. Perhaps the only truth was when he mentioned not being afraid. As it seemed to be an opposite what we heard Sawyer mention about the real John Locke to Flocke. Also Desmond in a well seems interesting as let's not forget that Claire was also in a well earlier this season. What does it all mean? No sure unless all's well that ends well. As perhaps that the purpose of things is to find yourself at peace and once you do you can escape the island. As perhaps the one's stuck on it have some deep rooted issues they have to sort out before can leave or possibly can't if do something say like kill innocents like Libby and are doomed to forever be stuck there. I know early on many felt that the island represents purgatory and it was shot down by the writers really quickly yet not sure it still might not be. As every time I hear Flocke mention he wants off this rock I feel he means more then just the island itself and think he means the Earth.
-
I didn't see anyone else mention it but after Locke was hit by Desmond didn't anyone pay attention to his face? More specifically his reaction when Ben is saying Mr. Locke Mr. Locke etc. I think Desmond might have brought Flocke to the sideways real world and the real Locke back to the island who will likely now lead the charge to get the Lostaways off the island and Jack will tell him they must stay etc causing them to them to replace Smokey and Jacob. Yet with Flocke being in the "real" world it could be dangerous but maybe not since he's still in Locke's body. *shrugs*

I agree that Todd McShay is not a particularly good talent evaluator.
But in his defense, we've all read the same reservations and criticisms of all the top tackle projects. He is correct in one sense, that the most talented tackles have motivation/character questions and that the most motivated tackles have limited talent. None of this year's tackles, like last year, appear to be cornerstone, franchise tackles.
Last year I posted two stories that stated that the 2009 draft was not a great year for offensive tackles. Some good prospects yes, but no Jonathan Ogdens, no Tony Bosellis, no Orlando Paces, no Walter Joneses.
Here are the top tackles from last year's draft and the grades given to them by Scouts Inc.
Jason Smith 97
Eugene Monroe 96
Andre Smith 95
Michael Oher 92
Oher outperformed the three tackles taken before him. He excelled on the right side but was mediocre on the left side. The other three were mild disappointments.
Here are the top tackles from this year's draft and the grades given to them by Scouts Inc.
Russell Okung 96
Brian Bulaga 95
Trent Williams 94
Anthony Davis 92
We've gone over this ad naseum but the point remains: there are many here who are dogmatic in their belief that we must draft an OT with our pick at #9.
And if the Bills were to do so, there's a very good chance that they would be making another first round draft mistake. So to those who are stubborn in their conviction that the Bills must draft a tackle at #9, I would say, be careful what you wish for.
Why would you calling improving out O-line a mistake? As let's look closer:
Demetrius Bell 8 game, 8 starts, 5 sacks allowed and 8 penalties.
**Jamon Merideth 8 games, 4 starts, 1.5 sacks allowed and 0 penalties.
In comparison
Jason Smith 8 games, 5 starts, with 2 sacks allowed and 1 penalty.
Eugene Monore 15 games, 13 starts, 7.25 sacks allowed and 3 penalties.
**Andre Smith 6 games, 1 start, with 0.5 sacks and allowed and 0 penalties.
**Michael Oher 16 games, 16 starts, 8.0 sacks allowed and 8 penalties.
** Played RT.

I was with you up until you said they could get a comparable talent at OT in the 2nd. I am sorry, but I don't see it.
Who do you see that has a chance to be a good starting LT in round 2? I don't think Ducasse is a LT (or even RT) and
I think Saffold will be gone by pick 41.
I'm guessing he might be referencing Bruce Campbell, as PFW just reported he could slide to Round 2. Yet with 17 starts under his belt I'm leary of taking him no matter how athletic he showed at the combine. To me if we don't land Okung, Williams or Bulaga with pick #9 then the debate starts. The debate being do we take Clausen, Dez Bryant, CJ Spiller or trade down. I'd favor trading down as if we don't take Clausen at #9 he could slide much like Aaron Rodgers and Brady Quinn did. As I don't mind moving down to pick to pick 15-20 and take Clausen there or Anthony Davis.

Does this mean that Derrick Morgan ends up with the Seahawks? Personally, I think so.
The Seahawks have haven't been linked to any particular OT and they've been linked to CJ Spiller is a lot of recent mocks and it wouldn't shock me to see them to take an OT with their second first rounder instead of their first. As who knows they might even want to grab Charles Brown due to his connection with Pete Carroll.

Narwocki says UBs James Starks has injury and mental issues. First, his injury was a shoulder. He's 100% from the waist down, so I don't see that affecting a RB. Second, I followed the kid for 3 years. I am not aware of any mental or intelligence issues Nawrocki is referring to. You can't be a dummy and go to UB. They have no basket weaving majors like a lot of football factories have.
PTR
They might not have basket weaving but they do have a Computer aided Statistics course that I took with a bunch of football players that earned me an easy A. Granted this was back in the Joe Freedy days.

You are kidding, right? Sometimes I'm a little slow on the sarcasm. If you're not kidding, that "argument" is a stretch to say the least.
I was being a little sarcastic but honestly don't think Lee is as great as we make him to be. As we tend to glorify our players, all fans do it, yet at the same time I just don't ever see Evans being a bonafide true #1 WR. He does remind me of Chambers and Glenn in that they were touted early in their careers as being #1s but as their careers finished they showed to be better suited as #2s.
-
I think the real wild card starts at pick 5. The Chiefs might be hesitant to take an OT having taken Albert last season. Also you never know what to expect from Al Davis at pick 8. That's why I have a firm belief that Bulaga or Williams might still be there for us at pick 9.

What about the sub-superstar talent that has flourished with a great QB. Look how good Manning, Brady, Brees, Warner, Marino, and others have made the people around them look like more than they are. In Brady's instance look at Patten, Branch, and Givens. In Manning's case look at Garcon and Collie this past season. In Brees' case looke at Lance Moore and Devery Henderson. In Warner's case look at Bryant Johnson, Steve Breaston, and every other WR that stepped in as Boldin was often injured. In Marino's case look at all of them. Bryant is of no help to us at all without a QB who can get the ball to him downfield when he's open. Did Gailey win a SB or a NC with any of those 2nd rate QB's? No. You need a top notch QB to win in this league and a timely defense. Like I said before, I'm sure that Nix and Gailey have a list of OT's they believe in if we don't go that way in the 1st and either trade back into the first or select a guy in the 2nd. I don't see how you pass up one of the top two QB's, a potential franchise QB, for the 3rd or 4th best OT in the draft. Bulaga or Okung? Yes. Trent Williams, Anthony Davis, Bruce Campbell? No.
and of those QBs you mentioned only two were drafted in the 1st Round. Again you comment how Clausen couldn't win at Notre Dame because a lack of surrounding talent, is the talent here in Buffalo that much better? I guess what I'm saying I'm more anti-Clausen because I don't see us having the talent around him that will allow him to flourish. Also let's look at Manning, his LT for the longest time was Tarik Glenn (1st Rounder who was there before him), BRady, I"ll admit I don't know off top of my head, Brees LT is Jamaal Brown and pretty sure was before him. Warner had Orlando Pace in St Louis, Marino had Richmond Webb in the 90s. In other words all of them except Brady had 1st Round LTs to play with.

No he's got to be better than Barry Sanders as last I checked Sanders didn't get too far once his team's made the playoffs.
