  1. Cannot complain, especially considering about 5 weeks ago, Saban was still the HC of the Miami Dolphins. Bama is ranked #10 @ Rivals, #10 @ Emfinger, #17 @ ESPN, and #19 @ Scout. I expect an improvement on these rankings next year. I also noted Rivals and Emfinger's top 10 had 7 teams from the SEC. Looks like the intensity of the SEC will only continue.
  2. A close second would have to be Monster.com from a few years back
  3. Then you would probably like to see some Tennessee Bird Dogs UT Bird Dogs
  4. Whisenhunt or maybe Martz. Capers? How many times does this guy have to be a HC before people realize he sucks as a HC Shula? As a Bills fan, he would have been my second choice for a Dolphins HC, right after Meat Head Mora? Saban dumps the Dolphins to go back to college, and the Phins interviewed the guy who publicly stated he would jump at the chance to coach his college alma mater, even if it meant leaving the pro team in the middle of a playoff hunt. Wayne must be a masochist But it will not matter who the HC is. The Dolphins are in chaos. The play makers on defense are old, and the young starters scare nobody. Other than Ronnie Brown and maybe Chambers, everybody else on the offensive side can be easily replaced. That includes Culpepper, who, for lack a of tackful phrase, is stupid. Then on top of that, Cam is not even allowed to pick his own assistants? (Capers contract was extended before Cam signed) The Dolphins are so screwed.
  5. You can try these: This is the link to the file itself. Open up your media player, and use the link below as your file source. mms://helix.americaneagle.com/buffalobills/thankyou.wmv (I tried it with Windows Media player and Real player, and it works in both) or you can download the play list here: Right click on the link below, and choose "Save Link As ..." or Save Target As ..." video playlist Once downloaded, double clicking on it should automatically open up your default media player
  6. That would be priceless! Not one, but two coaches bail out on them in one off season. Miami fans will be in complete meltdown mode.
  7. Too bad for the Jests, football is played for 4 (FOUR) quarters. That would be the Jests "defense", and not Chad. Chad was damn determined to throw that pick, wasn't he? Again, that would be the Jests "defense". You seem to have a real problem separating Offense and Defense contributions. As long as Chad leads the team, the Jests will not scare me. Chad reminds me of Jay Fielder.
  8. Speaking of "jackass football", here is an interesting scenario: Petrino and the Falcons trade Vick to Miami for a 1st round pick, two hours before the Dolphins announce Jim Mora, Jr. as their new HC. I can already see the national press when that happens: "Dolphins Super Bowl XLII Bound"
  9. Found this *profound* statement on a Phin fan baord: (Nick, good luck looking a recruit and/or his parents in the eye and persuading them that: (1) you'll be the coach at Alabama for their son's full career there; (2) their son will be a starter; and/or (3) their son will be better prepared to play in the NFL if he plays for Alabama.) Saban has not even begun recruiting, and already is having an impact: this propspect was leaning towards Florida: http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=14&p=8&am...amp;nid=2363670 but now: "He (Sidell) was thinking about not even visiting Alabama, but now you have to look at Alabama hard again," says the father of McGill-Toolen defensive end Sidell Corley. "If you're a recruit in this state or in the southeast, or if you want to play in the SEC, you need to give Alabama a very serious look. Saban changes everything." this prospect is undecided between Auburn, Miami, or Bama: http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=8&am...amp;nid=2482143 and now: "Auburn has a good program and Miami will land on their feet with Coach [Randy] Shannon," says Hoover blue-chip defensive tackle Kerry Murphy. "But Nick Saban at Alabama kind of blows it out of the water." It sure looks like Saban is going to have a hard time recruiting. Link for quotes As for their sons being "better prepared to play in the NFL", may I suggest DT - Kyle Williams I had some pity for Dolphin fans considering what had happened, but now, the best thing that this country could do is cut off South Florida and boot the damn thing towards Havana. They would not notice the difference anyways.
  10. Complete and utter Bull****. Scholarship restrictions were removed two years ago.
  11. The chance of them getting Cowher are slim. Cowher is still under contract for the Steelers for the next year. Miami would have to compensate Pittsburgh to gain Cowher's service, and I do not think Pittsburgh will let Cowher go cheap. If I remeber correctly, Oakland got at least 1 if not 2 first round picks from Tampa Bay for Gruden. Talent wise, Tampa Bay was in far better shape than Miami is now. The Dolphins cannot afford to lose any draft picks.
  12. I saw the one where the poster wanted Mike Shula as HC, and listed the reasons why: "+ Good offensive mind + Tight with the Shula tradition + Knows the game " Yeah, go ahead hire Mikey, feel the Shula "experience" . It feels like this
  13. I was thinking a new staff position called "Head Fluffer"
  14. Christ, how could I forget the guy that was caught shagging his secretary. (Maybe subconsciously I do want to forget him) Franchione - He just flat left. Bama was about to get slapped with NCAA sanctions, and Texas A & M had just built or was finishing building new facilities that came equipped with a fatter contract for the new HC. Plus, Paul Bryant, Jr. (a member of the Board of Trustees for the University of Alabama) told Fran that if he got on a plane for College Station, Texas, he better never step foot in Tuscaloosa again. That sounds like they wanted Dennis to stay. Stallings - I doubt he was forced. He was the second coming of Bear Bryant. Curry - Pfft. Brick, shmick. What's a little rough house among friends. So some people got upset he lost three straight to Aw-Barn. Bama was still offering a new contract to stay.
  15. Needs more time to think about it. Be a man, buck up, make a decision. Why in the world does anybody want to live in Cuba north?
  16. In February 2007 if recall correctly. As side note, Bama has had full scholarships for the past three years.
  17. Not! Ray Perkins went back to NFL (Tampa Bay) Bill Curry resigned and signed with Kentucky because he didn't like the new contract being offered Gene Stallings could have stayed as long as he wanted, but chose to retire Dennis Franchione left to go coach Texas A & M (he's still there) Mike Price was fired because he was an imbecile with a drinking problem, and had a thing for strippers (he just did not know what to do with them) Mike Shula was fired because he sucked. Am I missing anybody?
  18. *Ahem* My desire would be for Saban to take the Bama job, and for Wayne to promote Mularkey as HC. Now, many think thatwould never happen, but we are talking about an owner that gave the HC job to Wanny after JJ left. But, if does turn down the Bama, I hope he stays in Miami for a very lo-o-o-o-o-o-ng time. Saban is a great college coach, but one suck ass NFL coach.
  19. The Bama program? It would be a lot easier than most people think.
  20. Sure, any law or regulation can be changed. But I really do not think the university is willing to wait on the state legislature to modify the law just so they can sign a HC. When I replied, everything I read had the contract as a "guaranteed" 10 yr contract. Obviously, that cannot happen.
  21. College and the NFL are different animals, as Saban is finding out, just as Spurrier did, and Pete Carroll should now realize. Good coaches tend to have big egos, which causes them to believe they can coach anything, anywhere, at any level. Great coaches that can keep their egos in check, allowing them to focus on what they do best, are few in numbers. (i.e Bear Bryant and Papa Joe from Penn State)
  22. The HC of Bama would be a state employee. By law, no contract can be longer than 7 years.
  23. I don't think I have ever read or heard anything bad about DJ as a coach from a past player. Not even "read between the lines" kind of things. Come to think of it, the only player that I can think of that complained about Levy as a coach was Smerlas. And he bitched because he got cut. And that's good. A straight up honest front office and coach, plus a team that looks to be on the rise, should attract the attention of the free agents hitting the market.
